Abstract: A process for the production of high molecular weight unsaturated ketones by alkylation of low molecular weight .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated ketones with an allyl alcohol at elevated temperature in the presence of an acid catalyst. The products are intermediates for the production of various natural substances and perfumes such as the damascenones, damascones or natural dyes such as zeaxanthin, rhodoxanthin or xanthophyll.
Abstract: Continuous production of lactams by rearrangement of cycloalkanone oximes at from 210.degree. to 450.degree.C in contact with a supported catalyst in a fluidized bed wherein from 0.01 to 1 kg of steam is introduced above the fluidized bed for each kg of cycloalkanone oxime supplied. Lactams are starting materials for the production of synthetic polyamides suitable for fibers.
Abstract: A continuous process for the polymerisation of olefinically unsaturated monomers in bulk or in solution in which at least a portion of the low-viscosity materials to be fed to the polymerization zone is thoroughly mixed with a portion of the high-viscosity contents of the polymerization zone in a mixing zone disposed upstream of the polymerization zone, which mixture is then continuously fed to the polymerization zone. The resulting polymers have a uniform composition and a narrow molecular weight distribution. They may be converted to shaped articles by thermoplastic methods.

Abstract: Alkali stable surfactants are prepared by the sequential reaction of polyoxyalkylene compounds with high molecular weight alkyl vinyl ether followed by low molecular weight alkyl vinyl ether.
Abstract: A process for the production of cyanuric acid in which urea and an inert solvent are passed into a reaction zone in which pyrolysis of the urea with the formation of cyanuric acid takes place at 200.degree. to 300.degree.C, from 50 to 760 mm and a space-time yield of from 0.1 to 2 kg of cyanuric acid per liter of reaction volume per hour, and the cyanuric acid is separated in a crystal separation zone and freed from solvent in a falling film evaporator.

Abstract: Graft copolymer dispersions of improved viscosity and superior particle size distribution are prepared by the in situ polymerization of vinyl monomers in unsaturation-containing polyols in the presence of a free-radical catalyst and certain chain transferring agents at temperatures below 100.degree. C. The dispersions are low viscous liquids which may be advantageously employed in the preparation of polyurethanes.

Abstract: Apparatus for crimping filaments using turbulent heated fluids to which the filaments are exposed in two treatment chambers connected to one another. The first treatment chamber is constructed in two parts, the parting plane between the two parts is stepped and the filament guide means are intersected by the parting plane. The filaments are easy to introduce and the operating temperature need not be reduced in the event of any filament breaking.

Abstract: The invention relates to a dropout compensator for a trisequential color video playback system which compensates for dropouts in color video signals with a high degree of accuracy. Only the color information including the Y low portion of the luminance signal is delayed for a period of substantially one line of video information after separation of the color information from the Y high portion of the luminance signal and after FM demodulation of the color information signals. In addition to the two conventional delay means, connected in series, present in a trisequential system and necessary for converting time-sequential occuring color signals into signals occurring at the same time, there is provided a third delay means for the compensation of dropouts.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a modified titanium component for catalysts of the Ziegler/Natta type by milling a mixture of a titanium compound of the formula TiCl.sub.3 .13AlCl.sub.3 and an organic electron donor containing phosphorus and/or nitrogen atoms. The characterizing feature is that the mixture is first milled wet in a liquid inert hydrocarbon medium under specific conditions, then separated from the hydrocarbon medium and finally milled dry under specific conditions. Such modified titanium components give catalysts which provide particularly well reproducible results in the polymerization of .alpha.-olefins.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of polymeric compounds which have any desired number of functional end groups. In this process, polyfunctional organoalkali metal compounds which have been manufactured by reaction of divinylbenzene with low molecular weight organoalkali metal compounds, are reacted direct, or after prior reaction with anionically polymerizable monomers, with reactive low molecular weight compounds. The polymeric compounds which have functional end groups can be employed, for example, as emulsifiers, secondary dispersions, secondary dispersing agents or polymeric carrier substances.
Abstract: A process for decreasing the amount of dichloroacetyl chloride contained in monochloroacetyl chloride by treating monochloroacetyl chloride containing dichloroacetyl chloride with water, an alcohol or a carboxylic acid followed by separation of monochloroacetyl chloride by distillation from the mixture thus obtained. Monochloroacetyl chloride is used for the production of plant protection agents.
Abstract: Disperse azo dyes of the 2,6-diaminopyridine series in which one of the amine groups in the 2-position or 6-position is acylated. The dyes give brilliant yellow to blue colorations of generally high fastness properties particularly on polyesters.
Abstract: A two-stage process for the manufacture of methane from hydrocarbons is described. In the first stage, the hydrocarbons are converted into methane-rich gases, using the nickel catalyst described below. The cracked gases thus obtained are cooled and converted into methane-rich gases in a further catalytic process stage, using a methanization catalyst or the nickel catalyst mentioned below. To produce the nickel catalyst, the compound Ni.sub.6 Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.16.CO.sub.3.4H.sub.2 O is prepared in aqueous solution. The catalyst is obtained from this compound by drying, calcination and subsequent reduction in a stream of hydrogen whilst maintaining very specific temperature gradients between the drying stage and the calcination stage.
