Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the selective hydrogenation of alkynes and dienes in C2-C5+-olefin mixtures,—in C2- or C3-streams of the olefin preparation by cracking. The method comprises conducting the hydrogenation in the presence of a catalyst particle comprising (a) a metal of the tenth group of the Periodic Table, (b) a metal of the eleventh group of the Periodic Table and (c) optionally a compound of a metal of the first or second group of the Periodic Table. Components (a) and (b), and optionally (c), are applied to a support selected from the group consisting of silica, titanium dioxide, zirconium oxides, spinels, zinc aluminates, zinc titanate, aluminosilicates and mixtures thereof. The metal of the eleventh group is distributed homogeneously over the cross-section of the catalyst particle, and the metal of the tenth group is present in an edge layer close to the surface of the catalyst particle.

Abstract: Described herein are inventions in the field of genetic engineering of plants, including combinations of nucleic acid molecules encoding LMPs to improve agronomic, horticultural, and quality traits. This invention relates generally to the combination of nucleic acid sequences encoding proteins that are related to the presence of seed storage compounds in plants. More specifically, the present invention relates to LMP nucleic acid sequences encoding lipid metabolism proteins (LMP) and the use of these combinations of these sequences, their order and direction in the combination, and the regulatory elements used to control expression and transcript termination in these combinations in transgenic plants. In particular, the invention is directed to methods for manipulating fatty acid-related compounds and for increasing oil level and altering the fatty acid composition in plants and seeds.

Abstract: A process for the recovery of carbon dioxide, which includes: (a) an absorption step of bringing a carbon dioxide-containing gaseous feed stream into gas-liquid contact with an absorbing fluid, whereby at least a portion of the carbon dioxide present in the gaseous stream is absorbed into the absorbing fluid to produce (i) a refined gaseous stream having a reduced carbon dioxide content and (ii) an carbon dioxide-rich absorbing fluid; and (b) a regeneration step of treating the carbon dioxide-rich absorbing fluid at a pressure of greater than 3 bar (absolute pressure) so as to liberate carbon dioxide and regenerate a carbon dioxide-lean absorbing fluid which is recycled for use in the absorption step, in which the absorbing fluid is an aqueous amine solution containing a tertiary aliphatic alkanol amine and an effective amount of a carbon dioxide absorption promoter, the tertiary aliphatic alkanol amine showing little decomposition under specified conditions of temperature and pressure under co-existence with
