The first compound and the carboxylic acid anhydride form an intermediate compound having a carboxylic acid group and the carbamate group. A second compound has an epoxy group that is reactive with the carboxylic acid group of the intermediate compound for preparing the carbamate-functional polymer. The present invention is also directed to a curable coating composition including the polymer and a method of preparing the polymer.
