  • Patent number: 6499679
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for dispensing chemical material, and in particular, granular, agricultural material, from a moving device driven over terrain to be treated with the material. A metering system for dispersing the material includes on apertured metering disk positioned above a rotatable impeller. The apertured disk meters material from a product container, by gravity feed, onto the impeller below at a rate proportional to the linear speed at which the apparatus is driven to dispense material at a uniform density over the terrain. The metering disk is a component of a product container which is removably mounted to the device. The impeller rotates at a constant speed to disperse the deposited material at a uniform distance from the apparatus, and the position on which the material is deposited on the impeller is adjustable.

  • Publication number: 20020194686
Abstract: Polyamide-6 articles exhibit dramatically improved dye bleed and perspiration performance characteristics, as well as reduced color change of fluorescent dyed polyamide-6. These improvements are achieved according to the present invention by modifying conventional dyeing and aftertreatment conditions. That is, conventional temperatures used for dyeing and the aftertreatment of polyamide-6 yarns are typically about 100° C. and 77° C., respectively. In contrast, the dyeing and aftertreatment procedures of this invention are carried out at about 80° C. or lower, and about 50° C. or lower, respectively. Bath ratios of between about 15:1 to about 20:1 are employed with the polyamide-6 article being retained in the bath sufficient to achieve about 75% dye uptake.

  • Patent number: 6498232
Abstract: Shear forces are used for essentially salt-free coagulation of plastics dispersions or rubber dispersions. For this, method of use is made of an apparatus with at least one shearing module which has a stator and a rotor arranged within the stator, where the surfaces facing toward one another in the stator and in the rotor are in each case smooth, or at least the rotor exhibits a structure formed on its surface and facing from this in the direction of the stator, and between the stator and the rotor there is a gap of predetermined gap width. The process is carried out by passing the dispersion to be coagulated through the gap between stator and rotor and precipitating the dispersion by rotation of the rotor with predetermined shear rate and shear deformation.

  • Patent number: 6498219
Abstract: A method of on-line monitoring and control of monomer conversion in emulsion polymerization includes continuously balancing, as from an initialization time, the heat QIN, introduced into the reactor, the reaction enthalpy QRE introduced via the monomer feed, and the heat which has been removed from the reactor QOUT, and calculating an amount of heat which has not been removed QAD which would lead to an increase in the internal temperature and the internal pressure of the reactor in the event of a spontaneous adiabatic reaction. A check is carried out as to whether the potential adiabatic temperatures and pressures always lie below prescribed upper limits. If the upper limits are exceeded, the monomer feed to the reactor is throttled back or interrupted.
