Abstract: Apparatus and method for measuring coated test panels, the test panels (2) being taken from a feed magazine (1) by a gripping and moving device, e.g. a laboratory robot, placed on a measuring station (9) and, finally, transferred to a delivery station (5). In the measuring station (9) measurement of the various properties of the coating is carried out by the laboratory robot (3) using various measuring devices (4). This process can in particular involve spatial resolution and electronic recording. The test panels can furthermore be distinguished by a bar code system which is recorded and evaluated electronically.

Abstract: Compounds having alcoholic hydroxyl groups are esterified with acrylic or methacrylic acid in the presence of copper(II) salts or mixtures thereof as polymerization inhibitors and in the presence of a hydrocarbon as a water-entraining agent with removal of the water of reaction at from 90 to 150° C. After the esterification, the copper salt is precipitated as copper sulfide and is separated off from the ester. The light-color (meth)acrylates resulting in the high yields are particularly suitable for coatings containing colored pigment on substrates such as wood, paper, mineral building materials, plastics or metal.

Abstract: A process for preparing recyclable fiber composites, comprising bonding fibers with a polymeric bonding agent applied as an aqueous polymer dispersion to said fibers, the polymeric bonding agent comprising at least one addition polymer which, in the state of an aqueous dispersion, has a film forming capability at the temperature at which the addition polymer is combined with said fibers, and said aqueous polymer dispersion, when subjected to a change in pH, is converted into an aqueous solution of the addition polymer.
The aqueous addition polymer of the addition polymer dispersion can contain protic acid groups, and the state of the dispersion can be converted to an aqueous addition polymer solution by raising the pH of the aqueous medium. Alternatively, the addition polymer may contain basic groups, in particular, amino groups, and its state as a dispersion can be converted into an aqueous addition polymer resolution by lowering the pH of the aqueous medium.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing compression molded or pressed lignocellulosic articles. The method involves forming a binder resin by combining a polyisocyanate component with a synergist component of a C1 to C4 N-alkyl pyrrolidone, gamma-butyrolactone, or mixtures thereof. A resinated lignocellulosic mixture is formed by combining the binder resin with lignocellulosic particles having a moisture content of from 2 to 15 weight percent. The compression molded or pressed lignocellulosic article is formed by compressing the resinated lignocellulosic mixture.
