Patent number: 4826056Abstract: An article hanger particularly useful for clothing has an elongated, non-circular, beam-like body along which article gripping clamps are slidably mounted for adjustment in spacing. The beam-like body passes through the article receiving chamber formed between the jaws of the clamps. The clamps have spaced strap-like members which extend around and embrace the beam-like body. The face of the body directed into the chamber is exposed between the straps and has an irregular or unsmooth surface against which the article is pressed by the clamps to create a frictional grip resisting creep of the clamp lengthwise of the body. Also the spring clip holding the clamp closed engages the back face of the body to further resist creep.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1988Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Everett Duester, Russell O. Patent number: 4807334Abstract: A molded plastic article clamp designed to be supported from a rod has a pair of jaws pivotally joined at the top. One jaw has a pair of integral latch members extending toward the other jaw. The latch members are spaced apart lengthwise of the jaws and are designed to engage spaced keepers on the other jaw. The length and spacing of the latch members is such that when the latch member and keeper furthest from the top are engaged the jaws are held in article clamping position. When the other latch and keeper combination are engaged, the jaws are held in an open position sufficient to release an article but the clamp is still retained on the rod.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1988Date of Patent: February 28, 1989Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventor: Russell O. Patent number: 4793531Abstract: A hanger for garments of the type having a waistband has a rigid body resistant to compression loads applied lengthwise thereof. The ends of the hanger are so designed that the waistband of a garment can be wrapped around them and then resiliently pulled with sufficient force that the garment seats firmly against the end faces of the hanger body. The hanger has one or more hooks to engage the waistband and a resilient stretchable member to apply tension to the waistband by means of the hook. The end faces of the hanger are so designed that the garment, once tensioned along its waistband, will have no tendency to slide either upwardly or downwardly with respect to the hanger body.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts

Patent number: 4759480Abstract: A plastic hanger for articles including garments has article gripping clamps and is provided with an auxiliary bar over with portions of the articles or garments can be draped. The auxiliary bar depends below the hanger and is wider than the spacing between the outer ends of the clamps. The bar can be a separate component pivotally supported by the hanger body or it can be molded as an integral part of the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1987Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Everett L. Duester, John H. Batts

Patent number: 4746039Abstract: An article hanger, particularly useful for clothes such as skirts and slacks has an elongated body. Except in the general area of the hook by which the hanger is suspended, the body consists of a pair of elongate arms. A pair of article clamps are supported on the body. For this purpose the arms pass through the clamps and an anchor device on the clamps embraces and grips the said arms preclude pivoting of the clamps and with enough force to prevent sliding movement of the clamps under normal conditions when supporting a garment but permitting an operator to intentionally reposition the clamps lengthwise of the body.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1986Date of Patent: May 24, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: John H. Patent number: 4744496Abstract: A hanger for garments with a waistband having at least a limited degree of stretchability has a compression resistant body with dependent end members having garment gripping end faces. Between the end members, the hanger body has a plurality of dependent fingers arranged in two groups, one on each side of the center of the hanger body. The fingers are arranged at spacings to accommodate a variety of garment sizes, the waistbands of which are wrapped around both ends of the hanger and anchored to a selected pair of the fingers. In a modified construction, the fingers are hinged so they can be pivoted out of the plane of the hanger body to facilitate mounting and removal of the garments.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1987Date of Patent: May 17, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts

Patent number: 4739912Abstract: A hanger is made with a molded plastic body and a metal hook. The body has a vertical hole to receive the shank of the hook. The lower end of the hole communicates with an opening or pocket in the hanger body. The shank of the hook is provided with a diametrically enlarged head, the end of which is tapered. The cylindrical diameter of the shank is less than that of the hole and the diameter of the head is more than that of the hole. The hook is assembled by forcing or plunging the head and shank through the hole until the head seats in the opening. The resilience of the plastic of the hanger body restores the hole to its original diameter and a substantially radial shoulder formed by the top of the head seats against the top of the opening about the end of the hole supporting the body on and for free rotation about the hook.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1986Date of Patent: April 26, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Robert A. Patent number: 4729498Abstract: A garment hanger for suspending garments from their waistband is provided with a hollow tubular beam-like body suspended from a hook at its center. A pair of end members are telescopically slidably seated, one in each end of the body. Each end member is individually urged into extended position by an elastic tension member which is anchored at the outer end of the body and operatively engages the inner of the end member. Preferably, the tension members are endless loops, the closed ends of each of which are hooked to the end of the body and at their centers are wrapped around the inner ends of the end members. The body and end members have interfitting flanges for guiding and stabilizing the end members.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1987Date of Patent: March 8, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventor: Russell O.
