Patents Assigned to Batts, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4600132
Abstract: A garment hanger having flexibly hinged support arms to which an upper pair of lever arms are secured. The lever arms and support arms both include a medial hinge that provide for the upward pivoting of the support arms when the lever arms are converged. An elongated, resilient biasing rod is secured between the support arms in order to bias the support arms to a generally planar configuration and thereby tension the support arm outer ends against the garment. The lever arms include gripping segments that are oriented and spaced in order to permit the gripping segments to be grasped and squeezed in one hand in order to converge the support arm outer ends.

  • Patent number: 4565309
Abstract: A garment hanger has upper and lower bars joined at one end by a hinge of a construction which biases the lower jaw into an open position but resists a significant further opening movement even under the weight of a garment draped over it. The two bars are vertically superimposed with the lower bar being longer than the upper bar. A garment clamp is supported on the end of the upper bar distal from the hinge. The clamp has a pair of jaws forming a pocket between them centered over the lower bar. The jaws, when closed, embrace the lower bar and any garment draped over it for holding the garment against displacement from or along the lower bar.

  • Patent number: 4556158
Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic garment hanger has upper and lower bars connected at one end by a hinge. The hanger has a support hook generally centered between the ends of the hanger and integral with the lower bar. The hinge is designed with inner and outer spaced spring members separated by a gap with the inner spring member serving as the pivot and the outer one having a rigid web in its apex serving as a stiffener. The entire hinge in open position being inclined downwardly at an acute angle to the axis of the lower bar. When the hanger is closed and the bars generally parallel, the hinge is pivoted upwardly into substantial alignment with the lower bar axis.

  • Patent number: 4450639
Abstract: The garment hanger is of the one-piece molded plastic type and has a supporting hook with a straight intermediate portion between its base and support engaging end. The intermediate portion has a laterally extending vertical panel for mounting an indicia displaying tally. The panel is inclined at an angle to the plane of the lateral or lengthwise axis of the hanger whereby the indicia on the tally is simultaneously visible from both the front and one end of the hanger.

  • Patent number: 4446996
Abstract: An article clamp for a hanger is described which has a molded one-piece body of generally H-shape. A spring on one side of the central web pivots the legs about the web to provide a clamping action. A channel extends laterally across the outer face of one of the legs in general alignment with the web joining the legs. The channel opens through the outer face of the leg with the opening being substantially narrower than the cross-sectional width of the channel. The clamp is mounted on a rod-like support by insertion of the rod through the channel with the rod-like support serving as a rigid fulcrum when the clamp grips an article.

  • Patent number: 4395799
Abstract: The disclosed garment hanger has an elongated, molded plastic body with clamps at each end. Each clamp has a pair of spaced legs interconnected by an integral web between its ends which holds the legs substantially spaced from each other. The web has a relatively thin central section which functions as a hinge. The legs are biased into clamping position by a spring which is suspended in a pocket between the handle portions of the clamps. The lower end of the spring has a substantially circular head which becomes distorted in shape and presses against the bottom of the handle portions of the legs and against the web as the clamp is opening for effecting a change in the operating characteristic of the clamp.

  • Patent number: 4381599
Abstract: A machine is disclosed for securing clamping garment hangers to individual garments and includes a hanger holding magazine with fixed and movable stops to release the hangers one-by-one to an attaching station where the hanger is automatically positioned to receive a garment. The station also includes reciprocable cantilevered arms for closing and locking the hanger on the garment. Also disclosed is a special package for bulk shipment of the hangers, collated into groups suitable for charging the magazine.

  • Patent number: 4198773
Abstract: A tally system of article identification to be mounted on an article support such as a garment hanger is disclosed. In one form, tubular tallies are initially manufactured as an extruded tube and then severed into individual units of suitable length. In another form, they are individually manufactured. The article support may be provided with an upstanding boss or other projection over which the tallies are seated. The tallies and boss or other projection may be equipped with means for circumferentially indexing the tally to assure proper display. The tallies, as used, preferably have suitable information indicia applied to their exterior surface.

  • Patent number: 4194274
Abstract: A clamp type garment hanger including a garment grip construction is disclosed. The hanger includes at least one clamp having a pair of hinged clamp members, each of which includes an inner surface. A spring clip biases the inner surfaces of the clamp members towards each other to clamp a garment therebetween. The opposed inner surfaces of the clamp members define a serpentine or generally S-shaped passage within which the article to be suspended is clamped. A plurality of opposed, elongated projections extend outwardly from the inner surfaces of each of said clamp members into the S-shaped passage.

  • Patent number: 4192441
Abstract: An article clamping and supporting device suitable for displaying merchandise or for use with and incorporation into a garment hanger is disclosed. The device has inner and outer jaws designed to be joined by integral hinges and folded together to form a "clothes-pin" type of garment hanger. The jaws of the device are formed by inner and outer panels integrally joined by hinges which permit the outer panels to be folded to seat against the inner panels and detachably locked thereto. A spring biases the clamp into closed position. The spring seats over the folded inner panels and between these and the outer panels and is, thus, totally concealed from both front and back and largely concealed from the sides.
