Abstract: A process of dyeing a molded article is disclosed. The process entails immersing at least a portion of the article in a dyeing bath, retaining the portion in the bath for a period of time sufficient to allow an amount of dye to diffuse into the article, and removing said article from the bath. The molded article comprises a polymeric resin such as (co)polyester, (co)polycarbonates, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, polyamide, polyurethane, polyalkyl(meth)acrylate, allyldiglycol carbonate and styrene copolymers. The dyeing bath contains in addition to dye, water, a plasticizing agent and a leveling agent.
Abstract: A process for the separation a substantially adduct-free diaryl carbonate from reaction solution is disclosed. The process entails obtaining a solution that contains diaryl carbonate, catalyst system components and an aromatic solvent, lowering the temperature of the solution, optionally in the presence of a nucleating agent, to produce a crystallization product, and washing the crystallization product with an anhydrous wash solution to remove catalyst residues and impurities.

Abstract: Reagents that regulate human transmembrane serine protease activity and reagents that bind to human transmembrane serine protease gene products can be used to regulate extracellular matrix degradation. Such regulation is particularly useful for treating COPD, metastasis of malignant cells, tumor angiogenesis, inflammation, atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and pathogenic infections.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of a composition containing gold and/or silver particles, mixed oxides containing titanium and silicon which have been surface-modified, to the compositions producible in this process and to the use thereof in processes for the selective oxidation of hydrocarbons in the presence of oxygen and a reducing agent. The catalytically active compositions exhibit constantly high selectivities and productivities.

Abstract: Process for removing mercury from flue gases of high-temperature plants, in particular power stations and waste incineration plants in which a bromine compound is fed to the multistage furnace and/or the flue gas in a plant section downstream of the furnace, the temperature during contact of the bromine compound with the flue gas being at least 500° C., preferably at least 800° C. The combustion is carried out in the presence of a sulphur compound, in particular sulphur dioxide. Subsequently to the furnace, the flue gas is subjected to an optional multistage cleanup for removing mercury from the flue gas, which cleanup comprises a wet scrubber and/or a dry cleanup.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for generating light signals, in particular traffic lights. The device according to the invention contains a housing with at least one opening, which is closed by a plate, the absorption of which can be controlled electrically, there being located in the interior of the housing behind the opening a diffuser element, which reflects incident light through the plate. Preferred switched states of the plate are either black (absorption over the entire spectral region of visible light) and colored transparent (slight absorption in specific spectral regions) or transparent (no absorption over the entire spectral region of visible light). The device according to the invention is used to generate light signals by virtue of the fact that the ambient light strikes the plate and, depending on switched state, is absorbed entirely, partially or not at all by the plate.
