  • Patent number: 4325779
Abstract: The invention includes the process of shaping a workpiece and for producing a surface contour complementary to the surface contour of a model. The process comprises the steps of applying a masking material to at least a portion of the surface of the workpiece to be shaped, the masking material being adapted to protect the surface from the effects of etchant. A template is then pressed against the surface, the template having a surface contour comprising a negative image of the surface contour to be formed in the workpiece, the template surface being comprised of material adapted to remove the masking material when the template is pressed against the surface and removed from the surface. The template is then withdrawn from the surface to remove masking material from those portions of the surface contacted by the template surface. Etchant is then applied to the surface not covered by the masking material.

  • Patent number: 4315338
Abstract: A toilet has first and second hinges equidistantly spaced on opposite sides of a medial plane of the toilet with each hinge including a vertical hinge post having a horizontal pivot hole receiving a tubular pivot sleeve extending unitarily from a cover hinge body member with a pivot shaft of a seat hinge extending into the pivot sleeve for pivotal movement. The seat hinge and cover hinge each have outwardly extending spikes inserted in mounting bores in the seat and cover with the spikes having protrusions for retention in the mounting bores and being oriented at an acute angle to and flaring outwardly in reverse manner with respect to the medial plane with the post and hinge components being formed of fiberglass reinforced polypropylene.

  • Patent number: 4313963
Abstract: There is provided a method for tenderizing cut portions of meat, wherein the portions are slit by passing the portions into a plurality of rotating slitting blades having a plurality of discrete cutting surfaces on each slitting blade along the periphery thereof. A series of closely spaced first cut slits are produced from at least one surface into the said portions. The portions are then sprayed with a tenderizer solution containing a tenderizing phosphate, and the solution penetrates into and is retained in the said first slits. Further slitting of the portions is achieved by passing the portions into a further assembly of the rotating slitting blades and a series of closely spaced further cut slits are placed on the portions. The further slits are close to or in part overlap the first slits and the solution penetrates from or flows from the first slits into the said further slits during the further slitting and subsequent thereto. Immediately thereafter the portions are packaged and fast frozen.

  • Patent number: 4292018
Abstract: A double nozzle injector system includes a manifold block with an internal conical sealing surface which receives an external conical sealing surface of a spindle coupling connected to an extruder for receiving molten plastic into an axial passageway terminating at a main outflow passageway extending transversely through the coupling. An annular flushing groove encircles the coupling with a plurality of angularly spaced radial flush passageways of small diameter extending between the annular flush groove and the interior of the coupling at the main outflow passageway. Runners in the manifold block are provided with plugs having spherical surfaces for directing flow to a pair of nozzle members attached to the manifold block. Upper and lower portions of the manifold block are controlled by separate heaters and thermostats.

  • Patent number: 4277963
Abstract: A key loop for releasably supporting keys on the key head of a key case. The loop is of integral construction and formed of spring metal rod stock and includes an enlarged head for connecting the loop to the key head at the upper end of a shank portion which extends downwardly from the head. From the lower end of the shank, the key loop is reversably curved outwardly and upwardly with its free end terminating adjacent the inner surface of the shank at a substantial distance below the head. The free end of the key loop includes a retainer portion which extends inwardly and at least partially toward the lower end of the loop. The upper surface of said retainer portion and opposed portion of the shank provide an access opening for the apertured head of a key. The inner surface of said retainer portion serves to prevent inadvertent removal of a key from the loop.

  • Patent number: 4262028
Abstract: A puffable food composition is provided by extruding a mixture of ground animal parts and starch whereby the mixture is at least partially gelatinized during extrusion into a shape-sustaining form. The form is puffed either at the die of the extruder, or in subsequent hot oil frying, or both. With added flavoring, the puffed composition has the taste, texture and mouth feel of fried pork skins. The process accommodates a wide variety of animal parts without the necessity of substantial changes in the process parameters.
