Abstract: A device for irrigating the intestines that can be employed during surgery with an irrigating cannula for introducing a rinse and with a drain. To ensure irrigation during surgery of a section of intestine of any diameter upstream of the stenosis while avoiding any contamination of the operating field, the drain consists of an adapter connected germ-proof to a hose and of a plastic fastener securing the intestine to the adapter.

Abstract: New substituted phenoxyalkanolamines and phenoxyalkanol-cycloalkylamines of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which can be identical or different, denote alkyl groups with in each case 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together denote the group --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --, wherein n is the number 4 or 5, R.sup.3 denotes hydrogen, or an alkyl group or an acyl group with in each case 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R.sub.4 denotes an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or the cyclopropylmethyl group and R.sup.5 denotes hydrogen halogen or alkyl, and acid addition salts thereof, have a cardioselective .beta..sub.1 -adrenolytic and hypotensive action. They can be used as medicaments for the treatment of angina pectoris, hypertension and arrhythmias.

Abstract: Substituted 5-phenylthio-6-aminopyrimidinones of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R denotes an amino or hydroxyl group, and their tautomeric forms and acid addition salts thereof, have diuretic, saluretic and uricosuric actions. They can be used as medicaments for the treatment of hypertension, hyperuricemia and edemas.

Abstract: A heart valve prosthesis with a valve housing in the form of a ring and a curved valve which is mounted within the housing and which is hinged to the valve ring by means of a flat flexible small lug which, if appropriate, is drawn in one region through a slot in the valve ring, is characterized in that the valve and the ring each consist of two rigidly joined halves fitting respectively onto or into each other, and the end portions of the small lug in the form of a short strip are embedded "sandwich"-like between the valve halves on one side and between the ring halves on the other side.

Abstract: Substituted phenylpiperazinyl-propanols of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 denotes hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, which can be identical or different, each denote hydrogen, halogen, cyano, a trifluoromethyl group, a nitro group, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group or an alkyl group with in each case 1 to 4 carbon atoms, it being possible for the alkyl parts in each case to be straight-chain or branched, and their tautomeric forms and their salts as well as acid addition salts and N-oxides, have useful pharmacological properties, in particular a positively inotropic, vasodilating, broncholytic and platelet aggregation-inhibiting action and are therefore suitable for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency, hypertension, asthma and thrombosis.

Abstract: New substituted phenyl-2-(1H)-pyrimidinones of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, which can be identical or different, each denote hydrogen, halogen, cyano, a trifluoromethyl group, a hydroxyl group or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, it being possible for each alkyl moiety to be straight-chain or branched, and their tautomeric forms and their acid addition salts and N-oxides have a positive inotropic effect and can thus be used as medicaments for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency.

Abstract: New substituted tetrahydro-1H-pyrazolo[5,1-a]isoindoles of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, which can be identical or different, denote a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together denote the ethylene group, and X denotes a nitrogen atom or a methine group, and their acid addition salts have a long-lasting hypertensive effect and can be used as anti-hypotensives.

Abstract: An emulsifier for oil-in-water emulsions consisting essentially of a substantially steroid-free wool-wax alcohol free of .alpha.,.omega.-diols prepared by subjecting(a) wool-wax esters of mono- or multi-valent alcohols of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or(b) wool-wax alcohols optionally containing monovalent aliphatic alcohols of 1 to 6 carbon atoms to catalytic hydrogenation at a pressure of 170 to 300 bars and a temperature of 200.degree. to 300.degree. C. in the presence of a high pressure hydrogenation catalyst to obtain substantially steroid-free wool wax alcohols and removing therefrom .alpha.,.omega.-diols useful as emulsifiers.
