Abstract: The invention relates to an adhesive tape having a base material which is stretched more highly at right angles to the web direction than in the web direction, contains polypropylene as the main component, and is provided with at least one pressure-sensitive or heat-sealable adhesive layer, characterized in that the base material is foamed and that the stretch ratio in the web direction is 1:1 to 1:4 and at right angles to the web direction is 1:3 to 1:8, the stretch ratio at right angles to the web direction being greater than the stretch ratio in the web direction.

Abstract: New isoindolin-2-yl-guanidines and isoindolin-2-yl-aminoimidazolines of the general formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 can be identical or different and either hydrogen or a halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy, each with 1 to 4 carbon atoms,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 can be identical or different and either a hydrogen or an alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, andR.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, and R.sup.8 can be identical or different and either hydrogen or an alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or in whichR.sup.5 and R.sup.6 together represent the ethylene group,and their salts have an .alpha.-sympathomimetic and vasoconstrictive action that makes them appropriate as drugs for the treatment of hypotonic and rhinological states.

Abstract: The invention relates to a self-adhesive elastic diaper-pants fastening with an intermediate elastic piece and non-elastic adhesion ends. The fastening is so effected that the adhesion ends will not stretch and will adhere to the material out of which the pants are made tightly enough that the tensions produced by the wearer's movements will not cause them to become loose of their own accord.

Abstract: Pharmaceutical composition containing 1 part by weight of xipamide and 3-4 parts by weight of triamterene, for diuretic and antihypertensive treatment.

Abstract: A composition which is particularly useful in semi-rigid medical supporting bandages comprising10 to 35% zinc oxide2 to 15% cellulose ether10 to 35% glycerin30 to 75% water.The composition is coated onto at least one side of a suitable substrate to form the bandage and is irradiated in order to preserve sterility. Preferably, the radiation would take place after the bandages have been packaged.

Abstract: A powder mixture for surgical use, containing a methyl methacrylate homopolymer and/or copolymer powder, an X-ray contrast medium powder and a polymerization initiator, wherein the polymerization initiator is present as a combination product with the polymer powder or the X-ray contrast medium. This powder mixture is suitable for the preparation of surgical compositions which harden and are based on polymethyl methacrylate or its copolymers.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, halogen, or alkyl, R.sup.2 is halogen or alkyl, R.sup.3 is hydrogen, acyl, or saturated or unsaturated alkyl, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are individually hydrogen, or alkyl, wherein all alkyl and acyl groups are branched or straight-chain and each contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is oxygen, nitrogen, or sulfur, Y is oxygen or nitrogen, and --X--Y-- is --O--N--, --N--O--, or --S--N--, or salts of the above, with certain exceptions. Methods of preparation of the compounds, as well as their use as anti-hypertensives are also disclosed.

Abstract: Pyrimidyl thioureas of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 individually represent hydrogen, halogen, a linear or branched alkoxy group, or a linear or branched alkyl group, said groups having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. These compounds are useful for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and hypertension.Compositions containing these compounds as well as methods of use and preparation thereof are also disclosed.

Abstract: Breast prosthesis of an elastic plastic, in particular of silicone rubber composition, having a breast molding corresponding to the female breast and having a contact area adapted to the human body form, which carries an adhesive composition for attachment of the breast prosthesis to the body, which is characterized in that the breast molding comprises on the body-contact side, approximately centered, a recess and an adapter type molding retained therein and rotatable about its vertical median axis, the external wall area of which, turned toward the body, is provided with a coating of an adhesive composition tolerated by the skin. Optionally the breast molding comprises in its upper region a soft core which is highly flexible relative to the cup material.

Abstract: A water-soluble, pressure-sensitive, self-adhesive composition comprising a limited class of copolymers and a specific plasticizer which is completely neutralized with potassium hydroxide. The composition comprises 30 to 80 parts of a copolymer of 70 to 88% by weight acrylic acid butyl ester and 12 to 30% by weight vinyl carboxylic acid. The ester may be substituted in an amount of 3 to 12% by weight by acrylic acid-2-ethylhexyl ester and/or 5 to 25% by weight by a mixture of vinyl acetate and fumaric acid dialkyl ester. The composition also includes 20 to 70 parts by weight of a water soluble plasticizer which is ethoxylated phenol (or alkylphenol), ethoxylated alkyl mono- or diamine, or an ethoxylated alkyl ammonium compound. The composition is particularly useful for the production of adhesive tapes and similar articles useful in the papermaking industry for maintaining paper webs in continuous form.

Abstract: A compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 1 to 17 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms; as well as the physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. A method of production of the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and methods of use are also disclosed.The compounds of the present invention are useful in the treatment of angina pectoris, hypertension, and certain forms of arrhythmia.

Abstract: Substituted aryloxyamino propanols and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof according to the following formula ##STR1## wherein X is selected from oxygen and NH, R.sup.1 is selected from hydrogen, amino and acylamino having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is selected from isopropyl, tertiarybutyl, and 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenethyl), are disclosed which are useful as anti-hypertensive and .beta.-adrenolytic agents. Also, substituted aryl azoles selected from 3-aryl pyrazoles and 5-aryl oxazoles having the formula ##STR2## wherein X and R.sup.1 are the same, and R.sup.3 is selected from hydrogen, the radical ##STR3## are disclosed which are useful in the preparation of the substituted aryloxyamino propanols of Formula I. Compositions containing the aryloxyamino propanols, and methods of preparation are also disclosed.

Abstract: A corticosteroid-containing cream comprising(a) 0.05-0.5 parts fluocortolone(b) 2.5-20 parts fatty acid sorbitan esters and/or a mixture of fatty acid mono- and diglycerides(c) 1-5 parts fatty acid monoglycerides(d) 1-10 parts beeswax(e) 5-25 parts liquid paraffin(f) 25-75 parts petroleum jelly and water ad 100 parts, all parts being by weight.The cream is particularly useful as an anti-inflammatory agent for topical application.

Abstract: A water-soluble, pressure sensitive, self-adhesive composition comprising a mixture of(a) a copolymer comprising 70 to 80 parts by weight of monomeric ethyl acrylate and 20 to 30 parts by weight of a monomeric, .alpha., .beta. unsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and(b) a tertiary, ethoxylated N-alkyl alkane diamine having 3 to 18 ethylene oxide units per molecule, said alkyl having 10 to 18 carbon atoms,from 50% to 90% of the acid groups of said acid being neutralized. A method of preparation of the composition and an adhesive tape made therewith are also disclosed.

Abstract: In an adhesive bandage comprising a support and an adhesive layer on the front thereof, the improvement which comprises a thermosetting, water-impermeable lacquer layer on the back of the support, the lacquer layer being less elastic in at least one direction than the support, whereby movement of the body, once the strip has been applied to the skin, will cause cracking of the lacquer layer.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to certain aminopyrimidines of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy, alkylthio, or alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or cycloalkyl having 3 to 5 carbon atoms and R.sup.4 is hydrogen or an aliphatic or aromatic acyl group, as well as physiologically compatible acid addition salts thereof. Compounds of the present invention are useful as blood pressure lowering agents and in the treatment of glaucoma.

Abstract: A compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is chlorine, bromine, or methoxy; and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are individually hydrogen or methyl, at least one of R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 being hydrogen; or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 together are an ethylene group and R.sup.4 is hydrogen, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof. Such compounds are useful as anti-hypertensive agents. Methods of preparation and certain novel intermediates are also disclosed.

Abstract: A visco-elastic gel comprising a high molecular weight polysaccharide, at least one polyol and, optionally, at least one non-volatile acid soluble in the polyol and at least one non-volatile base soluble in the polyol. The polyol has a water content of 5 to 20 percent by weight and the various components set forth are physiologically acceptable. The gel is particularly suitable as a means for releasably securing an electrode to the skin as, for example, when taking an EEG or EKG. Methods of making a suitable electrode and using it are also disclosed.
