Patent number: 6468928Abstract: A translucent sheet is made of a textile net middle layer that is between two cover layers made of translucent films. In the middle layer, areas of the mesh run at an angle to the main direction of stress. In addition, there are stabilizing threads that run in the main direction of stress and are bonded to the knots of the textile net middle layer and give the structure of the middle layer particular strength in the main direction of stress.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1999Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Benecke-Kaliko AGInventors: Konrad Eysel, Lothar Bargiel, Walter Rother, Günther Vogt

Publication number: 20020125740Abstract: A process for manufacturing a road-bound, horizontally fitted vehicle body with a roof unit having an outer skin and an inward facing ceiling, or an outer skin and an inward facing ceiling with a ceiling frame, whereby the roof unit is a unit ready for installation, and a basic structure having longitudinal frames, the ceiling and the outer skin along with the basic structure having joining configurations that mate with each other at mutual places for joining. The process includes the steps of introducing the roof unit containing the outer skin with joining configurations, the ceiling or the ceiling and the ceiling frame, in each case with fittings already mounted in place, through an opening between the longitudinal frames, bringing the roof unit into contact with corresponding, matching configuration points of the longitudinal frames by an upward movement and permanently jointing the roof unit there.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2002Publication date: September 12, 2002Applicant: Alusuisse Tech. & Management AG, Johnson Controls Headliner GmbH(formerly Benecke Kaliko AG)Inventors: Jochen Wieschermann, Duri Deflorin, Wolfgang Muller

Patent number: 6352646Abstract: The invention concerns a method for processing a metal surface. To form an embossing surface, the metal surface is first provided with a coarsely cratered structure. After that, the surface is provided in a first blasting stage by blasting with particles or by etching or the like with a finely cratered structure of a first depth of roughness. Then the surface provided with the finely cratered structure of the first depth of roughness is coated within the vicinity of the troughs of the coarsely cratered structure with a protective coating and thereafter the peaks of the coarsely cratered structure projecting above the protective coating are provided by blasting with particle or etching or the like with a finely cratered structure of a second depth of roughness and lastly the protective layer is removed. With an embossing surface processed by the method of the invention, various appearances can be achieved in an embossed foil.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1999Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Benecke-Kaliko AGInventor: Gerd-Henning Kiesel

Patent number: 6337749Abstract: A method for generating an electric control signal driving apparatus to produce a topological structure on a workpiece, in particular to produce a leather structure. Initially, at least, two different signal components are generated and the control signal is then formed by their addition. One signal component may correspond to a fine structure and another for instance to a coarse structure or to a line structure. In this manner, the portions of the structure can be determined and processed one at a time to imitate a natural leather surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1997Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Benecke-Kaliko AGInventors: Volker Härtel, Dieter Blind, Rudolf Werner, Uwe Müssigmann

Patent number: 6312633Abstract: A method of producing dashboards, door or side trim panels for motor vehicles with a predetermined breaking line for an airbag flap is described. To accomplish this, slush material is introduced into a mold which can be heated to a molding temperature and determines the shape of the slush membrane, where the slush material is distributed and deposited on the heated mold surface by rotating the mold and is then sintered and gelled. After cooling the mold, the slush membrane is removed from the mold by unmolding. To create a predetermined breaking line, a mold having a divider on its mold surface at the location of the predetermined breaking line to be created is used. By controlled rotation and/or positioning of the mold while applying the powder and/or gelling the slush material, a reduction in the layer thickness of the slush material to an extent that establishes a predetermined breaking line is achieved.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1998Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Benecke Kaliko AGInventors: Gerd Henning Kiesel, Walter André

Patent number: 5886317Abstract: For the engraving of a pattern into the surface of a work piece by a laser beam which is directed onto the surface and controlled in its intensity in a location-dependent manner in dependence on the pattern, one surface area of a design pattern is, first of all, scanned optically or mechanically, and the surface information which is thus obtained is converted into electrical control signals. The laser beam is, by these control signals, controlled in a surface area which corresponds to the surface area of the design pattern. Different patterns can be engraved rapidly and easily by changing the design pattern. The scanning of the design pattern can be carried out finely and with high resolution, so that the engraving also has a correspondingly high resolution. The pattern of the design patterns can be as irregular as desired, so that complicated and irregular patterns can be engraved.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1996Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Benecke-Kaliko AGInventors: Hans-Helmut Hinrichs, Jurgen Minke, Gunter Lange, Jens Mommsen, Ludger Overmeyer, Markus Obert

Patent number: 5688156Abstract: This invention concerns a sheet for producing plastic films with a tear-resistant layer and a plastic layer that is applied to the former and has a surface that faces away from the tear-resistant layer and is suitable for applying liquid or pasty plastics for the plastic film to be produced. The surface of the layer of plastic which is preferably a negative of a relief pattern consists of polypropylene. The sheet permits a high fidelity in reproduction of the relief pattern plus a long lifetime as well. The sheet may be relatively thin, so a great length can be wound up on a roll. Therefore, great lengths of a plastic film can be produced in one piece by casting or spreading liquid plastic on the sheet. Therefore, the conversion time required for the manufacturing installation is short, which has a positive effect on the price of the product.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1995Date of Patent: November 18, 1997Assignee: Benecke-Kaliko AGInventors: Gustav Hildebrandt, Horst Buscher, Dirk Leiss, Reiner Taczkowski, Hans-Hinrich Kruse

Patent number: 5607755Abstract: A method for producing imitation leather which can be injection molded from the back as well as such imitation leather which can be injection molded from the back are disclosed. The imitation leather comprises a web layer with a decorative layer. In a first operational cycle, an open plastic framework is inserted into the web layer over the side of the web layer facing away from the decorative layer and subsequently, in one or a plurality of further operational cycles, one or a plurality of further open plastic frameworks are inserted. The surface of the web layer forms an adhesion layer for and at the same time a barrier against the injection molding compound.
