Patent number: 11663840Abstract: A method and system are provided for removing noise from document images using a neural network-based machine learning model. A dataset of original document images is used as an input source of images. Random noise is added to the original document images to generate noisy images, which are provided to a neural network-based denoising system that generates denoised images. Denoised images and original document images are evaluated by a neural network-based discriminator system, which generates a predictive output relating to authenticity of evaluated denoised images. Feedback is provided backpropagation updates to train both the denoising and discriminator systems. Training sequences are iteratively performed to provide the backpropagation updates, such that the denoising system is trained to generate denoised images that can pass as original document images while the discriminator system is trained to improve the accuracy in predicting the authenticity of the images presented.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2020Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: Bloomberg Finance L.P.Inventors: Kevin Ramesh Kabaria, Hitesh Jain

Patent number: 11378226Abstract: A monitor stand comprises a first arm for coupling to a first monitor and a second arm for coupling to a second monitor. The first and second arms are coupled to an upper column of the monitor stand. A lower column of the monitor stand supports the upper column. The first arm, the second arm, and the upper column are configured to rotate around a rotation axis offset from a longitudinal center axis of the lower column to fold or unfold the monitor stand between an open and closed position.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2019Date of Patent: July 5, 2022Assignee: Bloomberg Finance L.P.Inventors: Sean Roarty, Chris Brown, Vito Illuzzi, John Harmen, Al Castagna

Publication number: 20210335346Abstract: Systems and methods for classifying a dialogue act in a chat log are provided. Each word of the dialogue act is mapped to a word vector representation. An utterance vector representation of the dialogue act is computed based on the word vector representations. An additional utterance vector representation of the dialogue act is computed based on the utterance vector representation. The additional utterance vector representation is mapped to a classification of the dialogue act.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2021Publication date: October 28, 2021Applicant: Bloomberg Finance L.P.Inventors: Ozan IRSOY, Rakesh GOSANGI, Haimin ZHANG, Mu-Hsin WEI, Peter John LUND, Duccio PAPPADOPULO, Brendan Michael FAHY, Neophytos NEPHYTOU, Camilo Ortiz DIAZ

Patent number: 11042841Abstract: The invention provides systems, methods, and computer programs to improve the accuracy and efficiency with which data analysts can use news stories, press releases, and other sources of information to maintain databases that contain information about individuals and businesses and other organizations. Documents containing material information are acquired in computer-readable form and optionally may then be reduced to raw text. One or more computerized systems process the text and tag important terms such as proper nouns, job titles, awards, and other terms indicating professional, educational, corporate, or other developments. The invention provides a user interface with which a data analyst can review, confirm, remove, modify, introduce, and link the tags, ultimately adding the information and links to a database and storing the source document in an electronic warehouse for future retrieval.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2010Date of Patent: June 22, 2021Assignee: Bloomberg Finance L.P.Inventors: Michael A. Patent number: 11038957Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system and method for efficient, coordinated, distributed execution. Processes are registered into a process registry which includes a table or list of processes. Processes which are determined to be no longer running are removed from the registry. Each process is configured to send a broadcast when it starts or stops. Each process periodically reads the registry, sorts the list, and uses it to determine the current master process based on an algorithm.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2020Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Bloomberg Finance L.P.Inventor: Hendrik Brower
