  • Patent number: 8430750
Abstract: A video gaming device includes a processing module, a graphics processing module, and a video gaming object interface module. The processing module interprets a digital image(s) of a player to determine an identity of the player. When the identity of the player is determined, the processing module retrieves a user profile and generates video gaming menu data in accordance with at least one data element of the user profile. The graphics processing module renders a display image based on the video gaming menu. The video gaming object interface module receives a wireless menu selection signal and converts it into a menu selection signal.

  • Patent number: 8433971
Abstract: Communication device architecture for in-place constructed LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) code. Intelligent design of LDPC codes having similar characteristics there between allows for a very efficient hardware implementation of a communication device that is operative to perform encoding of respective information bit groups using more than one type of LDPC codes. A switching module can select any one of the LDPC codes within an in-place LDPC code for use by an LDPC encoder circuitry to generate an LDPC coded signal. Depending on which sub-matrices of a superimposed LDPC matrix are enabled or disabled, one of the LDPC matrices from within an in-place LDPC code matrix set may be selected. A corresponding, respective generator matrix may be generated from each respective LDPC matrix. Selection among the various LDPC codes may be in accordance with a predetermined sequence, of based operating conditions of the communication device or communication system.

  • Patent number: 8433810
Abstract: A method for selecting a mode of operation for at least two modems is described. First, a handshake procedure is performed in order to determine a set of possible modes of operation supported by said modems. From said set of possible modes of operation, a set of favorable modes of operation is derived. In case there exist two or more favorable modes of operation, a probing-based selection is performed that comprises evaluating respective performances of said favorable modes of operation. The favorable mode of operation with the best performance is selected as a resultant mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 8433956
Abstract: Intended for an information security application, particularly in networked information systems, the present invention includes two methods and systems for verifying a current performance of a command by a controller. A first cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the command is prestored in memory. A second CRC for the command is calculated after instructions of the command have been performed by the controller. The first CRC is compared with the second CRC. Preferably, the controller is reset if the first CRC does not match the second CRC. Also, an address of a first instruction of the command is compared with an address of a second instruction of the command to determine if there may be a discontinuity between the first and the second instructions. It is determined if the first instruction is a valid instruction from/to which an instruction sequence of the command can be redirected.

  • Patent number: 8432809
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for communication between processors. Rather than provide an external network connection solely for providing a communication link between CPUs, the present invention utilizes the network devices to transfer information between CPUs. A transmitting network device marks a control packet, which is intended as a communication between CPUs, as control traffic. The receiving network device will determine whether the received control packet is intended for its own CPU and provide the control packet to its CPU if that is the case.

  • Patent number: 8433857
Abstract: A disclosed embodiment is an interruptible write block comprising a primary register having an input coupled to an input of the interruptible write block, a secondary register having an input selectably coupled to an output of the primary register and to an output of the secondary register through an interrupt circuit. The interrupt circuit is utilized to interrupt flow of new data from the primary register to the secondary register during an interrupt of a write operation, such that upon resumption of the write operation the secondary register contains valid data. A method of utilizing an interruptible write block during a write operation comprises loading data into a primary register, interrupting the write operation to perform one or more other operations, loading the data into a secondary register while loading new data into the primary register, and resuming the write operation using valid data from the secondary register.

  • Publication number: 20130100334
Abstract: A method and system for auto-focusing is presented that receives an image at an image capture device, determines a focus measure of the image, and adjusts a focus of the image by moving a lens in the image capture device in a first direction until a maximum focus measure position is reached. The method and system then evaluates a noise level of the focus measure and continues to adjust the focus of the image by further moving the lens in the first direction until the focus measure is decreased by an adaptive threshold amount, wherein the adaptive threshold amount is based on the noise level of the focus measure. The method and system then adjusts the focus of the image by moving the lens in a second direction to the maximum focus measure position.
