Abstract: Methods and systems for secure key generation are provided. In embodiments, during the manufacturing process, a device generates a primary seed for the device and stores the seed within the device. The device exports the device primary key to a secure manufacturer server. The secure manufacturer server generates a public/private root key for the device and requests a certificate for the public root key of the device from a certificate authority. The device, having the stored primary seed, is integrated into an end-user system. Upon occurrence of a condition, the device after integration into the end-user system generates the public/private root key in the field. The system also receives and installs the certificate for the public root key.
Abstract: A method and system is provided for sharing of bandwidth on intermediate frequency cabling connections between indoor and outdoor units of a MIMO microwave communications system. Phase locked loop design assists in creating synchronization signals to be transmitted over the cable connecting the indoor units and outdoor units.
Abstract: Methodologies and apparatus to support interworking operations between a cellular radio area network (RAN) and a wireless local area network (WLAN) utilizing broadcast RAN assistance information. In various embodiments, a RAN (such as a LTE/LTE-advanced RAN) transmits RAN assistance information to a multimode user equipment (UE) for use in network selection and traffic steering operations. Certain parameters, such as RAN load assistance information, may be transmitted in a first format or a second, less granular format that changes relatively infrequently over time as compared to the first format. A system information broadcast procedure utilizing a paging message is employed to transmit information in the second format. The paging message may include a change notification flag that triggers a UE to initiate a system information acquisition procedure to a retrieve system information message(s) including the relevant interworking parameters.
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for encrypting a data transmission from a base station at the physical layer, such that the data transmission can only be decoded successfully by an intended UE. In an embodiment, a desired signal component, including a data signal for an intended UE, is combined with an interference component to generate a signal for transmission. The interference component is designed such that it falls in a null space of the channel from the base station to the intended UE and is therefore not received by the intended UE. In contrast, for an unintended UE, the interference component is designed to interfere with the desired signal component at the unintended UE, preventing the unintended UE from successfully decoding the data transmission.
Abstract: A radio device receives a band-limited signal and estimates signal components beyond the band edges to extend the signal and eliminate the band-limited effects. The extended signal is transformed to the time domain to produce an estimate of the true time domain channel.

Abstract: A global navigation satellite system (GNSS) enabled device that is configured to distinguish reflected GNSS signals from direct GNSS signals utilizing three-dimensional models of the terrain in the proximity of the GNSS enabled device. By utilizing the identification of reflected GNSS signals, the reflected GNSS signals can be excluded and/or weighted to achieve a more accurate location determination.
Abstract: A high speed level shifter interfaces a high speed DAC to the digital information that the DAC processes. The level shifter may convert CMOS level digital representations to, for example, CML level digital representations for processing by the DAC. The level shifter conserves the voltage swing in the CMOS level representations (e.g., about 1V). The level shifter also avoids voltage overstress, using a feedback loop to constrain the voltage amplitude, and thereby facilitates the use of fast thin film transistors in its architecture.

Abstract: Embodiments of a hysteretic switching regulator with reduced switching frequency variation over changes in one or more of input voltage, output voltage, and temperature are provided herein. A frequency adjust controller is specifically used to adjust a parameter of an integrator within the hysteretic switching regulator to compensate for changes in one or more of input voltage, output voltage, and temperature to maintain the switching frequency of the regulator within a narrow frequency range. Limiting the potentially wide switching frequency variation makes filtering of electromagnetic interference (EMI) caused by the switching action of the hysteretic switching regulator more effective and simpler to implement.
Abstract: Each entry in a prioritized measurement list defines a unique combination of frequency layer and radio access technology (RAT) for cells. Based on signal strength and/or signal quality of the serving cell, a set of entries for measuring is selected from a neighbor list according to the prioritized measurement list and according to a selection rule. The selection rule provides: for the case the at least signal strength or quality of the serving cell is higher than a respective strength/quality threshold, the selected set is a first set; and for the case the at least signal strength or quality of the serving cell is lower than a respective strength/quality threshold, the selected set is a different second set of the prioritized measurement list that excludes all frequency layers of the prioritized measurement list belonging to the RAT having a highest (or alternatively a lowest) priority.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for redundancy-based decoding of video content in a wireless system are provided. A wireless receiver may determine whether a received multimedia data stream comprises video content and may select a redundancy-based decoder when video content is detected. The wireless receiver may be a wireless local area network (WLAN) receiver or a cellular receiver. Video content may be indicated by at least one flag in a preamble or a reserved field of the received multimedia data. The redundancy-based decoder may be a Viterbi decoder. The wireless receiver may enable a standard Viterbi decoder to decode portions of the multimedia data that do not comprise video content. The wireless receiver may generate at least one signal to select the redundancy-based decoder or the standard Viterbi decoder.

Abstract: There are disclosed herein various implementations of improved wafer level semiconductor packages. One exemplary implementation comprises forming a post-fabrication redistribution layer (post-Fab RDL) between first and second dielectric layers affixed over a surface of a wafer, and forming a window for receiving an electrical contact body in the second dielectric layer, the window exposing the post-Fab RDL. At least one of the first and second dielectric layers is a pre-formed dielectric layer, which may be affixed over the surface of the wafer using a lamination process. In one implementation, the window is formed using a direct laser ablation process.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a reference-less frequency detector that overcomes the “dead zone” problem of conventional circuits. In particular, the frequency detector is able to accurately resolve the polarity of the frequency difference between the VCO clock signal and the data signal, irrespective of the magnitude of the frequency difference and the presence of VCO clock jitter and/or ISI on the data signal.
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed to compensate for one or more offsets in a communications signal. A communications receiver may carry out an offset adjustment algorithm to compensate for the one or more offsets. An initial search procedure determines one or more signal metric maps for one or more selected offset adjustment corrections from the one or more offset adjustment corrections. The offset adjustment algorithm determines one or more optimal points for one or more selected offset adjustment correction based upon the one or more signal maps. The adaptive offset algorithm adjusts each of the one or more selected offset adjustment corrections to their respective optimal points and/or each of one or more non-selected offset adjustment corrections to a corresponding one of a plurality of possible offset corrections to provide one or more adjusted offset adjustment corrections. A tracking mode procedure optimizes the one or more adjusted offset adjustment corrections.
