  • Patent number: 8884417
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for wirelessly communicating among integrated circuits and/or functional modules within the integrated circuits. A semiconductor device fabrication operation uses a predetermined sequence of photographic and/or chemical processing steps to form one or more functional modules onto a semiconductor substrate. The functional modules are coupled to an integrated waveguide that is formed onto the semiconductor substrate and/or attached thereto to form an integrated circuit. The functional modules communicate with each other as well as to other integrated circuits using a multiple access transmission scheme via the integrated waveguide. One or more integrated circuits may be coupled to an integrated circuit carrier to form Multichip Module. The Multichip Module may be coupled to a semiconductor package to form a packaged integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 8885506
Abstract: Energy efficient Ethernet with asymmetric low power idle. Low power idle mode is typically leveraged when both direction of a link do not have data traffic to transmit. Such a requirement reduces the application of low power idle due to the frequent existence of data traffic in only one direction. An asymmetric low power idle mode enables reduction in power consumption and signal emissions even when one direction has data traffic to transmit.

  • Patent number: 8887307
Abstract: Secure functions may be accessed via an authentication process utilizing a password that may be generated within a chip integrated on a device. The password may be unique per chip location, per challenge and/or per chip. The location of the chip may be determined based on GPS information and securely stored and securely communicated to an external entity. Two or more of the chip location, a generated random number sample and a key from a table of keys may be passed to a hash function that may generate a password. An external entity attempting access may be challenged to respond with a password that matches the password generated by the hash function. The response may be compared with the password generated by the hash function and access to one or more secure functions may be granted based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8885814
Abstract: A system for driving a first signal onto a wireline includes a driver and feedback circuitry. The driver drives a deterministic signal onto the wireline with an unknown impedance load. The feedback circuitry measures a quality of the output signal from the wireline and modifies a signal strength of the first signal based on the quality of the output signal. The driver then drives the first signal onto the wireline with the modified signal strength.

  • Patent number: 8885535
Abstract: Management frame map directed operational parameters within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. A management frame map may be generated within and transmitted from a first wireless communication device to a number of other wireless communication devices. Thereafter, certain subsequently transmitted packets may be analyzed and processed by the receiving wireless communication devices based on that earlier received management frame map. One or more operational parameters are determined for a subsequently transmitted packet based on the previously received management frame map; such operational parameters then govern the manner in which at least a portion of the subsequently transmitted packet is processed.

  • Patent number: 8886130
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for frequency control in a frequency shifting repeater are provided. In this regard, a reference frequency may be divided to generate a first pair of local oscillator (LO) signals, the first pair of LO signals may be divided to generate a second pair of LO signals. The two pairs of LO signals may be utilized to frequency shift a received signal for repeating the signal on a different frequency. The frequency shifted signal may be generated by down-converting the received signal utilizing the first pair of LO signals, up-converting the down-converted signal utilizing the second pair of LO signals, and combining the resulting up-converted signals. The reference frequency may be divided by a first scaling factor to generate the first pair of LO signal which, in turn, may be divided by a second scaling factor to generate the second pair of LO signals.

  • Patent number: 8884592
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for reducing switching frequency variation in a hysteretic switching regulator. Embodiments of the present invention provide a new duty cycle controller for a switching regulator incorporating a new Frequency Lock Loop (FLL) for controlling the hysteresis of a comparator, and this hysteresis variation directly controls the switching frequency. The FLL of the present invention advantageously maintains a fixed frequency operation for a switching regulator while not affecting the transient response or stability of the main loop because it only changes the hysteresis of the fast comparator and does not introduce delays in the main loop of the switching regulator. Thus, the FLL of the present invention advantageously maintains a fixed switching frequency while causing a minimal impact to the switching regulator.
