  • Publication number: 20140341136
Abstract: Aspects of a method and apparatus for user equipment (UE) channel acquisition in the presence of large frequency uncertainty in wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signals are provided. An efficient time-frequency domain search that may be utilized in cell communications may be performed by devising criteria that eliminates the unlikely frequencies hypotheses. An estimate for the frequency offset may be estimated in the remaining subset. For WCDMA applications, a UE may comprise a baseband processor that is enabled to detect a primary synchronization channel (P-SCH) code (PSC) for initial network synchronization. A portion of the baseband processor may generate a plurality of signal peak-to-noise-floor-average ratios associated with a plurality of test frequencies produced by a crystal oscillator. A highest of the signal peak-to-noise-floor-average ratios may be selected to determine the frequency offset of the crystal oscillator for use in power up operations.

  • Publication number: 20140341097
Abstract: Embodiments provide an area, cost, and power efficient multi-service transceiver architecture. The multi-service transceiver architecture simplifies receiver/transmitter front ends needed for a multi-service architecture, by replacing significant portions of multiple receiver and/or transmitter front ends with a single ADC and/or DAC, respectively. In embodiments, a plurality of received service contents are combined into one composite analog/RF signal and applied to an ADC. The ADC converts the composite signal into a composite multi-service digital signal. Digital techniques are then used to separate the plurality of service contents into a plurality of respective digital streams that each can be independently demodulated. Similarly, in the transmit direction, a plurality of digital streams, including a plurality of service contents, are combined into one composite digital signal.

  • Publication number: 20140341032
Abstract: A network device may implement a guard band for reducing latency of transmitting high priority data. The device may identify a scheduled communication time for high priority data, which may include a scheduled reception time of the high priority data by the network device or a scheduled communication time of the high priority data. The network device may initiate a guard band prior to the scheduled communication time, and even before the high priority data is received by the network device. When the guard band is active, the network device may prevent transmission of low priority data, which may include preempting an in-progress low priority packet when initiating the guard band. Upon receiving the high priority data, the network device may immediately transmit the high priority data without incurring additional latency for preempting a low priority packet.
