Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for a reference signal (RS) timing loop for OFDM symbol synchronization and tracking may include tracking symbol timing in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal based on at least a reference symbol set. A receiver timing may be adjusted based on at least the symbol timing. The symbol timing may be tracked by generating an output signal as a function of a guard time ?tg in a phase discrimination feedback loop. The reference symbol (RS) set may be generated in an RS extraction module or circuit, from at least a fast Fourier transform of the received OFDM signal. The receiver timing may be coarsely adjusted and then finely adjusted. The coarse receiver timing adjustment may be based on processing at least a primary synchronization signal and a secondary synchronization signal.
Abstract: Data puncturing ensuring orthogonality within communication systems. Puncturing is employed within communication systems to ensure orthogonality (or substantial orthogonality) of various transmissions between communication devices within communication systems. Any of a variety of types of signals can be employed herein including uncoded signals, turbo encoded signals, turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM) encoded signals, LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) encoded signals, and RS (Reed-Solomon) encoded signals, among just some types of signals. A first transmission can be made from a first communication device to a second communication device, and the second communication device can sometimes request a subsequent transmission (e.g., a re-transmission) from the first communication device to the second communication device. Oftentimes, different information is sent from the first communication device to the second communication device within the subsequent transmission.
Abstract: There is provided a method for use in a wireless communication to avoid detection of a false modulated signal in a paged device. In one embodiment, a modulated signal is received by the paged device. Then, the modulated signal is identified by the paged device as a preliminary false modulated signal. Thereafter, the gain of at least one paged device amplifier and/or a matching threshold of the paged device is reduced by the paged device to decrease a sensitivity of the paged device to avoid detection of a future false modulated signal. In one embodiment, the wireless communication is a Bluetooth wireless communication and the paged device is a Bluetooth enabled device. An exemplary system for implementing one embodiment of the disclosed method is described.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for redundancy-based decoding of video content are provided. A bit sequence comprising video content may be decoded in a multilayer process based on a decoding algorithm and at least one physical constraint. The decoding algorithm may be based on the Viterbi algorithm. Whether the bit sequence comprises video content may be determined based on information provided by a portion of a packet header or by packet priority information necessary for enabling quality of service applications. The physical constraint may be based on border, DC component, and/or low frequency continuity between neighboring discrete cosine transform (DCT) blocks. The physical constraint may also be based on the consistency of video data coded by a variable length coding (VLC) operation. At least one physical constraint test may be performed on selected estimated video bit sequences to select a decoded output video bit sequence.
Abstract: A multi-rate sigma delta digital-to-analog converter may include a signal input and a signal output, and multiple modulators. A first of the modulator may convert a digital input signal on the signal input to an analog output signal on the signal output. Subsequent of the multiple modulators may shape and cancel quantization noise received from a proceeding modulator. One of the modulators may operate at a higher frequency than does another of the multiple modulation loops.

Abstract: An encoder may implement an indexed color history that stores color values for previously encoded pixels. The encoder may obtain a current pixel or current group of pixels for encoding and determine whether to encode the current pixel using the indexed color history. In doing so, the encoder may compare a color value of the current pixel with color values of the previously coded pixels to determine whether the current pixel is sufficiently similar to a previously coded pixel color value, e.g., by satisfying one or more similarity criteria. When the similarity criteria are satisfied, the encoder may encode the current pixel as an index value referencing the entry in the indexed color history storing a color value that satisfies the similarity criteria. When the similarity criteria are not satisfied, the encoder may encode the current pixel using another encoding method or technique.

Abstract: A communication device is configured to receive a message that indicates request opportunity parameter(s). Based on the request opportunity parameter(s), the communication device is configured to generate and transmit a transmission request within one of two or more request opportunities (e.g., 2, 3, 4, etc. or generally N request opportunities such that N is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2) indicated by the request opportunity parameter(s). The two or more request opportunities are included within mini-slot(s) that span OFDM sub-carrier(s) of OFDM or OFDMA framing. A given mini-slot spans an OFDM or OFDMA frame, and a mini-slot is divided into any desired number of portions (e.g., 2, 3, 4, etc. or generally N portions) such that each of the request opportunities within that mini-slot occupies a common fraction of the mini-slot (e.g., each occupies ½, ?, ¼, etc. or generally 1/N of the mini-slot).
Abstract: Devices implement encapsulation to support link layer preemption. The device may include a encapsulation logic that encapsulates data, such as an Ethernet frame, to produce an encapsulated frame. The encapsulated frame may include an encapsulation element that indicates whether the encapsulated data includes non-preemptible data, such as Distinguished Minimum Latency Traffic (DMLT), or preemptible data. The encapsulated frame may also indicate whether the encapsulated data comprises the last fragment of a preemptible frame.
Abstract: Techniques are provided for users to authenticate themselves to components in a system. The users may securely and efficiently enter credentials into the components. These credentials may be provided to a server in the system with strong authentication that the credentials originate from secure components. The server may then automatically build a network by securely distributing keys to each secure component to which a user presented credentials.
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) performs a transform domain (DFT) based method to detect the cyclic prefix (CP) length that is being used by a base station for cellular communications. The detected CP length is then used to reduce the amount of time required to complete the synchronization and cell search procedures. In particular, the UE uses the detected CP length information to obtain Cell Identification parameters (NID1, NID2) along with information including a Maximum energy Tap location and a reference signal receive power (RSRP) while completing the synchronization and cell search procedures.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments providing carrier separation to effectuate a dual carrier operation of a wireless communication device. Processing circuitry may acquire a single carrier signal based on a determined time slot boundary, the single carrier signal comprising primary carrier data. The processing circuitry may receive a dual carrier radio frequency signal based on the determined time slot boundary, the dual carrier radio frequency signal comprising the primary carrier data and secondary carrier data. The processing circuitry may then generate a baseband dual carrier signal by demodulating the dual carrier radio frequency signal. The processing circuitry may separate the primary carrier data from the baseband dual carrier signal by filtering the baseband dual carrier signal. The processing circuitry may also separate the secondary carrier data from the baseband dual carrier signal by filtering the baseband dual carrier signal.

In one embodiment of the present invention, a backplane training system includes a backplane device coupled to a first end of a backplane and at least one retimer device at a second end of the backplane. During a training process, a receiving device is configured to forward a training frame (e.g., DME frame) to a second device for use by a transmitter in the second device.
Abstract: A communication device and method for offloading one or more communications from a communication network to one or more other communication networks. The offloading can be controlled by one or more service providers that instruct the communication device to perform the handoff of communications. For example, the one or more service providers can generate one or more commands that instruct the communications device to scan for one or more networks, identify one or more networks, analyze one or more of the identified networks, generate one or more reports based on the analysis, and/or provide the generated reports to the service provider(s).
Abstract: A method of synchronizing a time division duplex (TDD) multi-line, multi-carrier data communication system is provided. Synchronization is established using unique pseudo-random bit sequences (PRBS) from a common generator polynomial having different seed values. Due to low correlation of PRBS generated with different seed values, a remote unit can only synchronize to its intended signal effectively mitigating far-end and near-end crosstalk impact of large bandwidth very high speed digital subscriber lines (VDSL).

Abstract: Methods and systems for processing signals in a receiver are disclosed herein and may comprise receiving spatially multiplexed signals via M receive antennas. A plurality of multiple data streams may be separated in the received spatially multiplexed signals to detect MIMO data streams. Each of the MIMO data streams may correspond to a spatially multiplexed input signal. Complex phase and/or amplitude may be estimated for each detected MIMO data streams utilizing (M-1) phase shifters. Complex waveforms, comprising in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components for the MIMO data streams within the received spatially multiplexed signals may be processed and the processed complex waveforms may be filtered to generate baseband bandwidth limited signals. Phase and/or amplitude for one or more received spatially multiplexed signals may be adjusted utilizing the estimated complex phase and amplitude. Phase and/or amplitude may be adjusted continuously and/or at discrete intervals.
