Abstract: Energy efficient Ethernet with asymmetric low power idle. Low power idle mode is typically leveraged when both direction of a link do not have data traffic to transmit. Such a requirement reduces the application of low power idle due to the frequent existence of data traffic in only one direction. An asymmetric low power idle mode enables reduction in power consumption and signal emissions even when one direction has data traffic to transmit.

  • Publication number: 20120321015
Abstract: A method for generating a preamble of a frame for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless communication begins by, for each transmit antenna, generating a carrier detect field. The method continues by, for a first grouping of the transmit antennas, generating a first guard interval, and at least one channel sounding field. Continuing, the method applies cyclical shift prior to transmission via the first grouping of the transmit antennas. When the MIMO wireless communication includes more than the first grouping of the transmit antennas, for another grouping of the transmit antennas. For the another grouping of the transmit antennas, generating at least one other channel sounding field. The method proceeds by generating the first guard interval prior to the at least one other channel sounding field, and applying another cyclical shift prior to transmission via the another grouping of the transmit antennas.

Abstract: Systems and methods according to embodiments of the invention enable flip chip packaging using high density routing while minimizing the thickness and layer count of the flip chip package. By using a photoresist layer to create very fine traces on a metallic base layer, embodiments of the present invention combine advantages of leadframe substrates and laminate substrates by supporting high-density routing while minimizing layer count and manufacturing cost. Additionally, the use of raised metallic pads in a routing layer enables embodiments of the present invention to include highly compact traces that pass over IC die bond pad connection sites without directly coupling to these bond IC die bond pad connection sites. Further, embodiments of the present invention can support multiple thin routing layers without the need for organic (e.g., laminate) material separating these routing layers.

  • Patent number: 8335811
Abstract: In a data processing system, a method and system employing high fidelity inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT) and discrete cosine transform (DCT) algorithms are provided. The values of the coefficients in a two-dimensional (2D) transform utilized in the IDCT and DCT algorithms may approximate the ideal integer output with sufficient visual quality. The transform coefficients may match a portion of the most significant bits (MSBs) or properly rounded bits of the coefficients of a reference transform matrix within an upper bound. The IDCT and DCT algorithms may specify constraints based on separating the 2D transform operation into two 1D transform operations in order to determine a minimum-bit width for each of the transform coefficients. The minimum-bit width may also be based on integer-bit precision of the data to be processed by the IDCT and DCT algorithms.

  • Patent number: 8333317
Abstract: Access to secured services may be controlled based on the proximity of a wireless token to a computing device through which access to the secured services is obtained. An authorized user may be provided access to a service only when a wireless token assigned to the user is in the proximity of the computing device. A user's credential may be stored on an RFID token and an RFID reader may be implemented within a security boundary on the computing device. Thus, the credential may be passed to the security boundary without passing through the computing device via software messages or applications. The security boundary may be provided, in part, by incorporating the RFID reader onto the same chip as a cryptographic processing component. Once the information is received by the RFID reader it may be encrypted within the chip. As a result, the information may never be presented in the clear outside of the chip.
