  • Patent number: 8225189
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products that can be used concurrently or alternatively to detect errors in data as well as to protect access to data are provided. Embodiments enable a coherent data set (CDS) which is a data set guaranteed to be genuine and error-free at run-time. Embodiments provide systems, methods, and computer program programs to create a CDS, identify a CDS, and verify the coherency of a data set purported to be a CDS. Embodiments further enable privileged functions which are functions that can only be accessed by a restricted set of other privileged functions. • Patent number: 8223826
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a wireless receiver system that utilizes a special structure of pilot symbols used for synchronization and channel estimation in transmission packets to measure noise power at the receiver. The periodicity of the pilot signal sequences is used to extract the noise power from the received signal. Such extraction is achieved by subtracting the received signals from two pilot slots which are separated by the known periodicity of the training sequence. This method relies on the fact that desired signal and system interference signals will cancel out after the subtraction process. Measuring the power of the residual signal after subtraction represents the estimate of the noise power. Several consecutive such residual signals can be first summed up before measuring the power to improve the estimate of the noise power at the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20120177100
Abstract: Data puncturing ensuring orthogonality within communication systems. Puncturing is employed within communication systems to ensure orthogonality (or substantial orthogonality) of various transmissions between communication devices within communication systems. Any of a variety of types of signals can be employed herein including uncoded signals, turbo encoded signals, turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM) encoded signals, LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) encoded signals, and RS (Reed-Solomon) encoded signals, among just some types of signals. A first transmission can be made from a first communication device to a second communication device, and the second communication device can sometimes request a subsequent transmission (e.g., a re-transmission) from the first communication device to the second communication device. Oftentimes, different information is sent from the first communication device to the second communication device within the subsequent transmission.

  • Patent number: 8218684
Abstract: In a method and system for an adaptive automatic gain control (AGC) reference for HSDPA and WCDMA, A RF receiver, comprising a RF front-end, may receive a signal comprising a pilot signal via WCDMA or HSDPA. The operation mode of the RF front-end of the RF receiver may be determined based on the received signal components such as a HS-PDCH, a HS-SCCH, and/or a CPICH. The received signal strength information (RSSI) of the received signal may be determined from the output of a matched filter within the RF receiver. A true RSSI, which may be indicated by the received signal code power (RSCP), may be determined based on the pilot symbols over the CPICH. The operation mode determined for the receiver's RF front-end, the determined RSSI, and the determined CPICH_RSCP, may be provided as inputs to an automatic-gain-control (AGC) loop or circuit within the receiver front-end.
