Publication number: 20110310907Abstract: Systems and methods for emulating the bridging of control packets of a first network through a second network. Control packets may be Ethernet control packets instantiating a stream through the emulated bridge. One such protocol is the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.1Q protocol. One second network may be a MoCA 2.0 network or a Power Line Communication (PLC) network or any other suitable network. Control packets may be encapsulated as unicast packets according the second network and sent to a control plane node. The encapsulated unicast packets may be indentified and decapsulated by the control plane node. Publication number: 20110314506Abstract: Point to multi-point wireless video delivery. Among a group of receiver wireless communication devices (RXs), one is designated (e.g., as acknowledgment (ACK) leader). Media delivery operational parameters are selected based on the designated RX or based on all or a subset of the RXs. For simultaneous media delivery to multiple RXs, characteristics associated with the designated RX [or all, or a subset or RXs] govern the manner by which communications are made. Different respective RXs may be designated to serve in this role at different times. Wireless delivery of media (e.g., video signaling, audio signaling, etc.) to a group of RXs is effectuated in accordance with modified multicast signaling with a designated leader (e.g., ACK leader). Among a group of devices, a least successful receiving device that still receives media at an acceptable level may be chosen as the designated leader (e.g., ACK leader).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2011Publication date: December 22, 2011Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventors: Peyush Agarwal, Yasantha N. Patent number: 8081940Abstract: Methods and systems for dynamically tuning and calibrating an antenna using on-chip digitally controlled array of capacitors are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include dynamically tuning a mobile terminal antenna (MTA) using on-chip arrays of capacitive devices. The tuning may be, for example, to compensate for center frequency drift during operation of the mobile terminal. The tuning may be accomplished by selecting capacitive devices in the on-chip arrays of capacitive devices to use in conjunction with an inductive circuit coupled to the MTA, where the inductive circuit may be either off the chip or on the chip. Accordingly, an impedance of the circuit formed by the capacitive devices in the on-chip arrays of capacitive devices and the inductive circuit may be adjusted with respect to the MTA. A valid circuit configuration may include a configuration where no capacitive device may be selected for use with the inductive circuit.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2006Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Ahmadreza Rofougaran

Patent number: 8081104Abstract: A single chip radio transceiver includes circuitry that enables detection of radar signals to enable the radio transceiver to halt communications in overlapping communication bands to avoid interference with the radar transmitting the radar pulses. The radio transceiver is operable to evaluate a number of most and second most common pulse interval values to determine whether a traditional radar signal is present. The radio transceiver also is operable to FM demodulate an incoming signal to determine whether a non-traditional radar signal, such as a bin-5 radar signal, is present. After FM demodulation, the signal is averaged wherein a substantially large value is produced for non-traditional radar signals and a value approximately equal to zero is produced for a communication signal that is not FM modulated with a continuously increasing frequency signal. Gain control is used to limit incoming signal magnitude to a specified range of magnitudes.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2010Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Christopher J.
