The processing circuitry further processes the touch pad input to determine user finger characteristics.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for printing under bump metallization (UBM) features on chips/wafers are provided. A wafer is received that has a surface defined by a plurality of integrated circuit regions. Each integrated circuit region has a passivation layer and a plurality of terminals on the surface of the wafer accessible through openings in the passivation layer. A plurality of UBM features are formed on the surface of the wafer in the form of an ink such that each UBM feature is formed electrically coupled with a corresponding terminal of the plurality of terminals. An ink jet printer may be used to print the ink in the form of the UBM feature. A UBM feature may be formed directly on a corresponding terminal, or on routing that is coupled to the corresponding terminal. A bump interconnect may be formed on the UBM feature.

    Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for reducing a power consumed by a physical layer device (PHY). A length of a cable connecting the PHY to a link partner is determined. Based on the length, power provided to one or more components of the PHY, or any portion thereof, is reduced. The power provided is reduced while maintaining a level of reliability specified by a protocol governing operation of the PHY. The length can be determined using time-domain reflectometry (TDR) techniques. Any portion of an echo cancellation filter, a crosstalk filter, an equalizer, a precoder, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a forward error correction (FEC) decoder and/or an FEC coder can be powered-down or power-optimized to reduce the overall power consumed by the PHY. The protocol governing operation of the PHY can be IEEE 802.3.

    Abstract: A transmit signal generated by the baseband processor in a translational loop type RF transmitter is “pre-distorted” so as to counter act magnitude distortion and group delay variation imposed by a narrow PLL signal filter. The pre-distortion occurs in two steps: a magnitude equalizer in the baseband processor pre-distorts the amplitude of the transmit signal according to the inverse of the PLL signal filter magnitude response, and a group delay equalizer linearizes the phase response of the entire transmitter chain, i.e., pre-distorts the transmit signal such that the combined phase response of magnitude equalizer, group delay equalizer, and PLL signal filter is linear. With such pre-distortion, a loop filter is provided for with component values that define a relatively small bandwidth for the loop filter to filter spurious tones that result from an IF reference feedthrough to a voltage controlled oscillator of the translational loop.

A critical factor for a PoE system is the total resistance of the power FET. Typical PoE systems consist of a single power FET that may be integrated with the controller or external to the controller. In a hybrid architecture the PoE system consists of both an internal power FET and an external power FET. The external power FET can be used to customize a design to meet a particular application or need. The total resistance in the hybrid architecture can be automatically determined using voltage and current measurements of the internal and external power FETs.

    Abstract: A method to adapt channel quality indicator (CQI) reports from user equipment (UE) is provided. This involves first determining the presence of a high-speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) signal. An estimated signal to noise ratio (SNR) is also determined. Next an SNR correction based on the presence or lack thereof of the HS-SCCH signal and the CRC checks for HS-SCCH and HS-DSCH signals are determined and applied to the estimated SNR. The CQI report is then generated based on the corrected estimated SNR. This CQI report which takes into account a corrected estimated SNR may then be used to adjust the HS-SCCH signal in an HSDPA telephony system.

A valid initial position may be used to fix the pseudorange integers.
