  • Patent number: 10246283
Abstract: A system and method of installation for installing a rolled sheet material on a vertical or near-vertical surface are described. Specifically the system and method of installation are useful in the construction industry where heavy rolls of sheet materials must be precisely installed on walls and other vertical surfaces that can be several stories high. The system includes a rolled material spool holder with mounting hardware to allow mounting of the spool holder to a piece of construction equipment along with a spool director, which is also mounted to the piece of movable construction equipment, such as a scissor lift. The method of installation involves positioning the scissor lift along the wall in the desired start location and the desired starting height.

  • Patent number: 10184254
Abstract: A covering panel securable to a bearing substrate and having a fastener strip with a plurality of fastener apertures spaced apart along a longitudinal axis of the covering panel. The covering panel comprises a plurality of hammer stops extending forwardly from a section of the fastener strip including the fastener apertures. Each one of the hammer stops is associated to a corresponding one of the fastener apertures and comprises at least one elevated hammer head stop surface protruding from the fastener strip and elevated therefrom and a hammer head alignment guide abutable with a section of a hammer head to position the hammer head in a predetermined configuration with respect to the corresponding one of the fastener apertures. The at least one elevated hammer head stop surface is configured to abut with the hammer head at a distance from the section of the fastener strip including the fastener apertures.

  • Patent number: 10174499
Abstract: A laminated structure for use in retrofit building construction (partition, wall, ceiling, floor or door) that exhibits improved acoustical sound proofing characteristics while being optimized for efficient installation. The laminated structure includes a panel with at least one layer of viscoelastic glue, or fire-resistant, viscoelastic glue, which functions both as a glue and an energy dissipating layer. In one embodiment, the laminated structure to be attached to an existing wall in some embodiments includes standard paper-faced gypsum board. In another embodiment the to-be-applied laminated structure includes a cement-based board, and in yet another embodiment the to-be-applied laminated structure includes a cellulose-based board. Once the laminated structure is installed on an existing wall or other partition, the resulting structure greatly attenuates transmitted noise and minimizes the labor required for installation and finishing.

  • Patent number: 10113314
Abstract: An asphalt shingle having an asphalt-coated substrate sheet with a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein a liquid release layer is applied on the bottom surface of the asphalt shingle instead of conventional backing particulates. The liquid release layer may help the shingle proceed through the manufacturing machinery without sticking and may prevent the adhesion of the bottom surface of the asphalt shingle to an adjacent shingle in a stack of shingles upon experiencing a pressure up to around four pounds per square inch, a temperature of around eighty degrees Celsius or below. The liquid release agent may also prevent adhesion of adjacent shingles in a stack at various temperature and pressures for at least fourteen days.

  • Patent number: 10077565
Abstract: A heavy duty layered blanket having application in construction applications is disclosed. It includes an overlay around one or more edges of the blanket which resists tearing and wear. The overlay helps to assure that the layers of the blanket stay in place when placed in use, especially in heavy duty construction applications such as for curing concrete. Selective openings in the overlay facilitate attachment of multiple blankets to each other and related facilities, such as scaffolding.
