Patents Assigned to Building Products, Inc.
  • Patent number: 9045369
Abstract: The invention is directed to a plastic fiber article of manufacture having composite-like high strength characteristics. The article of manufacture can be in the form of a panel or board. The panel or board is constructed from low cost fiber materials, industrial grade or high thermoplastic, and other additives to protect the board or panel from ultraviolet light, fugii growth, excessive heat, fire, insect infestation, and/or weathering. The plastic fiber panel or board may be textured and colored to resemble natural wood such as cedar, walnut, or oak. The plastic fiber panel or board is stronger more durable and may be cheaper than natural wood alternative panels or boards.

  • Patent number: 8984837
Abstract: A masonry wire reinforcement apparatus and system is disclosed for anchoring a veneer wall to a backup wall of Concrete Masonry Units using a masonry wire reinforcement product embedded into an inner support wall, along with clips and pintle ties, such that the clip is attached to the masonry wire reinforcement product and is configured to receive the pintle tie, which then is attached to the veneer wall. Also disclosed is a thermal attachment that can be attached to the clip and accept the pintle tie thereby reducing the transfer of energy from the outer veneer wall to the inner support wall.

  • Patent number: 8931218
Abstract: A modular brick or block outdoor structure includes an outdoor structure that is constructed in modular sections. Each modular section is fabricated from a plurality of paving bricks or retaining wall blocks that match the brick or block used to construct the patio. The bricks or blocks are preferably assembled to each other with adhesive. Each modular section includes means for transporting thereof with some type of equipment, if necessary. It is preferable that each modular section include channels to receive lifting forks of an end loader or other suitable transport device, if necessary. However, other methods of transporting the modular section may also be used.

  • Patent number: 8894901
Abstract: A method of making a sheet of building material, useful for roofing or siding applications, and the sheet material made by such method. A mixture of a thermoplastic resin and mineral filler is prepared, the resin comprising about 10% to 40% by weight of the mixture and the filler comprising about 60% to 90% by weight. The mixture is mixed at a temperature above the melting point of the resin and is formed into a sheet at such temperature. The sheet is allowed to cool until the surface is at a temperature below the midpoint of the melting range of the thermoplastic resin, e.g. in the range of 210 to 220 degrees F. (99 to 104 degrees C.), for polyethylene, at which point it is strained by passing it through calendering rollers. The sheet material made by this process, having a high concentration of mineral filler, is fire resistant, durable, ductile, of moderate weight and resistant to weathering. It can be produced using relatively inexpensive manufacturing equipment.

  • Patent number: 8876966
Abstract: A premixed composition is formed from modified polyacrylate polymer, silicone emulsion, one or more amine compounds, and silane, that cures rapidly to form a composition that can be used as a grout or coating. The premixed composition includes a latex resin including an acrylic-based polymer, a silicone emulsion, one or more amine compounds, and a silane, and optionally various fillers, pigments, and adjuvants. These components in the proper proportions form a stable viscous suspension that can be floated into tile joints, and cleaned from an adjacent tile surface. The composition rapidly cures to form a hard mass that is resistant to abrasion, in both dry and wet conditions, is color consistent, and is resistant to staining.

  • Patent number: 8863469
Abstract: A thermal clip attachment apparatus and methods for using the thermal clip attachment with a masonry veneer anchor system are disclosed. The thermal clip attachment may be a composite piece that attaches to the part of a stud that protrudes from an inner structural supportive wall after the stud is advanced into the wall. The thermal clip attachment serves as a thermal break between the stud and an outer masonry veneer wall. Further, the thermal clip attachment also serves as an attachment point for a wire tie, which allows a positive lateral load connection to be established between the outer masonry veneer wall and the inner structural supportive wall.
