  • Publication number: 20080100140
Abstract: A power management and monitoring system for controlling an electrical device powered by a power supply is disclosed. The system may include a circuit breaker enclosure box structured to monitor and manage power to the electrical device via a centralized data bus and centralized power bus. The circuit breaker enclosure box may include at least a remotely actuated solid state electronic circuit breaker (ECB) that monitors and manages power to the electrical device and a switch connected to the ECB and capable or remotely bypassing the ECB. The system may also include a display and controller that can remotely monitor and control the electrical device by remotely actuating the ECB.

  • Patent number: 7170021
Abstract: A rocker switch assembly has several rocker shells that define cavities to receive inserts of several varieties that allow the user to provide several rockers in a side-by-side assembly of rocker switches with a wave pattern that allows each switch to be easily identified as to function and/or indicates switch condition. Reversing the orientation of every other rocker shell provides the wave pattern, and the use of different inserts allows variation in the illumination level of individual rocker switches, yet each rocker shell shares a common geometry.

  • Patent number: 7012795
Abstract: An electromagnetic circuit breaker assembly, comprising at least one circuit breaker, is provided with a reverse polarity circuit that reduces the voltage presented to the terminals of the circuit breaker to which it is electrically connected when the terminals are further connected to a source of voltage in reverse polarity. The circuit breaker assembly is tripped due to the reverse polarity set-up, and remains tripped until the polarity is corrected. The electromagnetic coil is continuous provided with sufficient voltage so that the breaker may not be manually reset until the polarity is corrected. Preferably, the breaker is mechanically connected with another circuit breaker to create an assembly that will protect circuitry and devices against both a reverse polarity condition and an overload condition under normal operation. To this end, the reverse polarity circuit does not affect operation of the circuit breaker assembly if the polarity is in accordance with the normal set-up.

  • Patent number: 6826457
Abstract: A control system for electrical devices in a vehicle has solid state output/relay (12) modules with processing and memory capability. The output/relay module (12) is programmable to store configuration data corresponding to predetermined states for the various devices to be controlled. The output/relay (12) module has memory capability including a non-volatile component (EEROM, 47). A solid state input module also has processing capability, and includes memory capability. The input module has selector switches for preselecting a variety of device states. The input module further provides a visual indication of the states for these devices. A data bus (203) provides communication between said input and output modules, and a dongle (201) is selectively connected to said relay module data bus (203) for allowing changes to the configuration data (217) stored therein. The dongale (201) is programmable from a personal computer or work station.

  • Patent number: 6809282
Abstract: An electromagnetic circuit breaker is provided with a pair of magnets on opposing sides of the contacts in the open position. A magnetic field generated by the magnets combines with the magnetic field generated by the electrical arc created upon opening of the contacts during an overcurrent condition sensed by the breaker. The combined magnetic fields deflect the arc current, shifting the arc current away from the contact points and lengthening the path of the arc, thereby increasing the voltage rating of the breaker, by decreasing the intensity of an associated arc current.
