Abstract: A split housing circuit breaker having an auxiliary switch for connection to remote indicators that reflect the condition of the breaker has an actuator moveable between ON, OFF, and TRIPPED. When the actuator is moved between the ON and OFF positions, an auxiliary switch lever holds an auxiliary switch plunger against its bias to a normally-open condition for the auxiliary switch. When the actuator is in the TRIPPED position or reset to the OFF position after a fault, the plunger is allowed to extend and the auxiliary switch moves to the dosed condition. A trip lever sub-assembly includes an auxiliary switch lever that selectively acts on the plunger, a trip lever that selectively holds the auxiliary lever against the plunger, and a pin and torsion spring to rotatably interconnect the two said levers.
Abstract: A dimmer switch assembly includes a housing for supporting and enclosing the assembly components. A dimmer adjusting element is mounted on the housing and has a movable portion for movement in first and second directions. An elongated flexible triggering member has a first longitudinal end coupled to the movable portion of the dimmer adjusting element and a second longitudinal end provided in a socket defined by the housing. First and second detectors are spaced from and arranged opposite to one another. The elongated member is interposed between the detectors such that movement of the dimmer adjusting element in the first direction flexes the elongated member toward to activate the first detector, and movement of the dimmer adjusting element in the second direction flexes the elongated member toward to activate the second detector. The detectors have signals associated respectively therewith which are generated by the detectors when the detectors are activated by the triggering device.

Abstract: An environmentally sealed switch includes a switch housing, and a stationary contact mounted within the switch housing. A moveable contact is mounted within the switch housing. The moveable contact has a first position electrically making with the stationary contact and a second position electrically breaking with the stationary contact. An actuator is moveably mounted within the switch housing for actuating the moveable contact between the first and second positions. An internal portion of the actuator has an external neck extending through an actuator opening defined by the switch housing. A membranous boot seal surrounds the neck of the internal actuator portion. The boot seal has a first and second opening. The first opening includes a first border engaged against a periphery of the neck, and the second opening includes a second border that is retained in the switch housing and surrounds the neck of the internal actuator portion.
Abstract: A brake pedal position circuit includes a brake pedal mechanism having a ferromagnetic portion, which is movably mounted in a motor vehicle. At least one permanent magnet for generating a magnetic field is provided, as well as at least one Hall effect device for generating output data states that are dictated by variations in the magnetic field. A housing for the permanent magnet and the Hall effect device is fixedly secured in the vehicle so as to provide a portion in proximate relation to the brake pedal ferromagnetic portion when the brake pedal is in an “at rest” position. Movement of the brake pedal mechanism in the vehicle changes the magnetic field and causes a resulting change in the Hall effect device data state.
Abstract: A circuit breaker which has an auxiliary coil fitted onto the primary bobbin adjacent the pole piece having a dielectric auxiliary bobbin and a dielectric bobbin housing encapsulating the auxiliary coil and forming an encapsulated auxiliary coil assembly. Both the dielectric auxiliary bobbin and the dielectric bobbin housing are comprised of a polymeric material, preferably a liquid-crystal polymer. Preferably, the liquid-crystal polymer is an aromatic liquid-crystal polyester which is reinforced with about 30% glass and has a nematic liquid-crystal structure. Furthermore, it is preferred for the dielectric strength of the liquid-crystal polymer to be about 32 KV/mm to about 35 KV/mm.
Abstract: An auxiliary switch for a circuit breaker of the split case type. The switch is capable of switching the rated interrupt current capacity of the breaker and is fitted in to the circuit breaker case so that the overall width is substantially equal to or less than the overall width of the circuit breaker. Several embodiments of the auxiliary switch disclose various features which contribute to increasing the interrupt current rating and/or down sizing the width of the auxiliary switch.
