  • Patent number: 6178465
Abstract: An image processor which reads and outputs image data. Only by inputting a keyword which causes us to associate an image intuitively, the image processor produces and outputs an image based on a plurality of image data combined on the basis of the input keyword. To this end, an illustration part keyword table contains a plurality of keywords and a plurality of illustration part codes for each keyword. A part arrangement table contains a plurality of image pointer values and their arrangement information in correspondence to illustration part codes. A CPU searches the illustration part keyword table and part arrangement table for a match of the input keyword and reads a plurality of illustration image data corresponding to the keyword from an illustration part image file and arranges the respective illustration images in accordance with the corresponding arrangement information.

  • Patent number: 6175401
Abstract: A liquid crystal material which exhibits an antiferroelectric phase while the liquid crystal material is in a bulk state, is sealed between substrates. The liquid crystal layer sealed between the substrates exhibits a mixed phase wherein the liquid crystal layer contains liquid crystal molecules aligned in a plurality of alignment states which differ from each other in the alignment order of the liquid crystal molecules forming adjoining smectic layers. The direction of the director of the liquid crystal layer varies continuously in accordance with the polarity and magnitude of a voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer. Gradation display can be achieved by arranging polarization plates such that the substrates are sandwiched therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6169532
Abstract: A display apparatus comprises a liquid crystal display panel, gate driver circuit for scanning gate lines of the display panel, drain driver circuit for supplying the display data to drain lines of the display panel, level modulator circuit coupled to the display panel and control circuit. The control circuit determines that video data represents a still image data, stoped the operation of the drain driver circuit and activates the level modulator circuit. The level modulator circuit reads out from display signals from the display panel and re-writes display signals to the display panel in order to display the still image on the display panel. In this manner, the electric power consumed by the drain circuit can be conserved when the display apparatus displays the still image.

  • Patent number: 6167410
Abstract: In a document processing apparatus equipped with a computer program storage medium, a preselected decoration is made on document data. A CPU analyzes document structures of the overall document in unit of a document structural element, and extracts a predetermined structural element from these analyzed structural elements as a design element to be designed. Then, the CPU retrieves a table contained in a RAM based on an attribute of this design element. This table fixedly stores specific decoration information with respect to each of the attributes of the design elements. The CPU retrieves the decoration information corresponding to the attribute of the extracted design element, and then decorated the design element based on this decoration information. As a result, a predetermined decoration can be made on the document data.

  • Patent number: 6151090
Abstract: A liquid crystal cell is formed by bonding a first substrate on which a first electrode and a first aligning film are formed, and a second substrate on which a second electrode and a second aligning film are formed by a seal member. A liquid crystal is filled in the liquid crystal cell. The thicknesses of the aligning films are set to 10 nm to 35 nm. An aligning treatment is performed twice on each of the aligning films in the opposite directions. The first aligning treatment is performed to give a pretilt angle of 5 degrees to the liquid crystal, and the second aligning treatment is performed to give a pretilt angle of 6 degrees to the liquid crystal, with the result that a pretilt angle of 1 degree is actually given to the liquid crystal. The glass-transition temperatures of the aligning films are selected to be about 250.degree. C., so that the aligning films are not transformed at the time of baking the seal member.

  • Patent number: 6133518
Abstract: A keyboard, having a plurality of keys arranged so as to be pivotable upward and downward and a plurality of light emitters arranged under the keys in one-to-one correspondence therewith, selectively causes the light emitters to emit light, thereby teaching keys to be depressed. A base resin, which forms each of the plurality of keys, has transparency and contains a pigment which colors the base resin and a light scattering agent having a light diffusion property. By virtue of the use of the pigment and the light scattering agent, a surface color which confers a refined feature on the keys can be realized, and accordingly a product with an excellent appearance can be attained. Moreover, by virtue of the blending of the pigment and the light scattering agent, the keys can shine uniformly without a difference in brightness when their corresponding light emitters are lighted, and a keyboard instrument player can fully recognize by his/her eyes that the keys shine.

  • Patent number: 6130860
Abstract: A transmitter includes a time measuring unit. The transmitter also includes a time information storage unit for storing information on the time measured by the time measuring unit when a specified process was performed. The transmitter is responsive to an instruction of transmission to transmit to a receiver information on the time difference between the time measured by the time measuring unit and the time whose information is stored in the time information storage unit. The receiver calculates the time when the specified process was performed by the transmitter on the basis of the information on the received time difference and information on the current time obtained by a time measuring unit. Thus, although the transmitter has no current time measuring unit, the receiver is capable of specifying the time when the specified process was performed.

  • Patent number: 6129466
Abstract: When a desired plurality of document data are selected from a recorded plurality of document data and read into a text memory, the selected plurality of document data are combined into a document data string, and cut instruction data is added between any two adjacent document data. Printing lengths of a tape are calculated for the respective document data sectioned by the cut instruction data, so that positions where the tape is cut are calculated and then stored in a cut position memory. In connection with printing of the document string developed into a print data memory from the text memory, a cut instruction signal is output and the tape is cut each time the number of motor driving steps for tape carriage matches a respective one of the cut positions.
