Patent number: 6124852Abstract: Two kinds of alternation signals, that is, an alternation signal for odd-numbered electrodes and an alternation signal for even-numbered electrodes, are input to an SEG driver. In accordance with those signals, the SEG driver reverses, at different timings, the polarity of SEG drive signals which are output to odd-numbered signal electrodes and the polarity of SEG drive signals which are output to even-numbered signal electrodes. As a result, spikes are generated before and after the timing of a polarity reversal of an alternation control signal which is input to a COM driver. Further, the SEG driver reverses, at the same timing and in different directions, the polarity of the SEG drive signals which are output to the odd-numbered signal electrodes and the polarity of the SEG drive signals which are output to the even-numbered signal electrodes. By so doing, the crosstalk due to the spikes is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1997Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Yamagishi, Tatsuhiko Yonekawa, Masanori Sakamoto, Takahiro Nakada

Patent number: 6115014Abstract: One frame of a video signal is separated to a plurality of display frames. To display a color specified by the video signal by mixing display colors of a plurality of display frames, the video signal is converted to data indicative of a voltage to be applied to each pixel over the display frames by using a conversion table. A voltage corresponding to the converted data is applied to a birifringence control type liquid crystal display device to drive the liquid crystal display device multiple times in one frame period of the video signal. When the response speed of the liquid crystal is fast, a color obtained by mixing the display colors of a plurality of display frames is recognized by an observer. When the response speed of the liquid crystal is slow, a color corresponding to an average value of the voltages applied to a plurality of display frames is recognized by the observer.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1995Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hisashi Aoki, Soichi Sato, Tetsushi Yoshida, Jiro Takei

Patent number: 6111658Abstract: A ROM in the control circuit of a color printer stores a threshold matrix. The individual elements of the threshold matrix correspond to print dots, the number of which is X.times.Y and which form 1 pixel in the original image. Values t (x, y) which are integral numbers not less than 0 are assigned one to each of the individual elements in a predetermined order. Using the threshold matrix, the CPU of the control circuit creates mask patterns for representing halftones. A value of 1 is subtracted from the tone number allotted to the tone of color of a pixel in an image to be printed, and the resultant value is substituted for a variable G. When a gradation for image data representing the pixel is given as "g", the condition required for setting ON (transferring toner to print) the dot specified by the coordinates (x, y) in the pixel in the case of the gradation "g" is expressed by the following formula (6):t (x, y).ltoreq.g.times.X.times.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1997Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignees: Casio Computer Co., Ltd., Casio Electronics Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yuji Tabata

Patent number: 6108012Abstract: In an image display device, a ROM contains a plurality of image data indicative of the actions of an animal character. A RAM includes a plurality of action level registers each of which stores for each image data the state of inputs given to select and display the image data. The user gives a command corresponding to a respective image of an animal character to select and display the action of the animal character optionally. When a random-number corresponding to the command is generated, image data which does not correspond to the input command can be displayed. If the generated random number has a particular value, the value of an action level register for the image data corresponding to the command is updated. Such operation is iterated and thus the value of the action level register is updated.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1999Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yukio Naruki, Hiromi Okabe
