Abstract: Home pages displayed at terminals are each defined by a combination of multiple parts. The terminal stores home page configuration data and a plurality of items of image data for each part. In creating his or her own home page, the user of the terminal operates an input unit to select an image of each part. Also, the user enters personal information to be made public on the home page. The parts information and personal information thus entered are sent to a server and then stored therein. In order for the user of the terminal to watch another person's home page, the server sends part information of another person's home page as opposed to image data to the user's terminal. The user's terminal combines parts of image data it stores in accordance with the parts information recieved from the server to create and display the another person's home page.

Abstract: An image display control device includes a storage section storing section storing sequential behavior of living thing images, a display section for displaying the living thing images stored in the storage section, a discrimination data setting section for arbitrarily setting individual data so as to be associated with each of the living thing images stored in the storage section, and a display control section for varying behaviors of the living thing images displayed on the display means based on the sequential behavior images stored in the storage means in accordance with the individual discrimination data set by the discrimination setting means. When a user arbitrarily gives a name to a living thing image, a display pattern of the living thing image varies in accordance with the name. Thus, characteristics of living thing images differ from each other on the basis of its own given name.

Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, a plurality of images can be simply synthesized with each other without preparing a specific image such as an image extracting image. In this image processing apparatus, a distribution rate of the respective color data of each of pixels in first image data and second image data is calculated in the case that the first image data is synthesized with the second image data based on transmittance data of the first and second image data,and a value of color data of each pixel in a synthesized image is calculated, and then the first image data is synthesized with the second image data based upon this color data value.

Abstract: A protective film for protecting the channel region of a thin film transistor is formed by a dry etching treatment. Therefore, even if there is a defect in a semiconductor film, pin holes are not formed in a gate insulating film. It follows that the breakdown voltage of the gate insulating film is not lowered even if a scanning signal line, etc. including a gate electrode is formed of only an A-based metal film having an anodic oxide film not formed on the surface.

Abstract: A light beam emitted by a surface illuminant reaches the surface of a transparent base layer of a recess/projection detection optical element. A light beam emitted almost vertically is emitted to an air layer. A light beam incident on the transparent base layer at an angle larger than a total reflection angle returns to a two-dimensional photosensor at a portion contacting the air layer, but scatters in a transparent particle at a portion contacting the transparent particle. When a finger is brought into contact with a scattering reflection layer, the scattering reflection state does not change in an area corresponding to a valley of a fingertip. As indicated by an arrow, an amount of reflected light beam is large. In an area corresponding to a ridge of the fingertip, the light beam scattered by the transparent particle is absorbed. The amount of reflected light beam is small, as indicated by an arrow.

Abstract: In a liquid crystal display having a wide viewing angle range, first and second retardation films each having negative optical anisotropy in which the refractive index in the axial direction tilted in a predetermined direction with respect to the normal line to the film plane are inserted between a liquid crystal cell including a pair of substrates and a front polarizer and between the liquid crystal cell and a rear polarizer, respectively, such that the direction components along the film planes of the axial directions are set along the aligning treatment directions of the liquid crystal cell. A third retardation film having refractive index anisotropy in the film plane is arranged between the first retardation film and the adjacent front polarizer such that the maximum refractive index direction in the film plane becomes parallel or perpendicular to the absorption axis of the front polarizer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a position data/display control apparatus and method which uses received position data to display data on the present position. A user selects the nearest area to the user's present position, as determined from received position data, from a storage means which stores a plurality of area names and data for measurement of positions in areas corresponding to the area names. Upon selection, the present position data is converted to position data suitable for measurement of the user's present position based on the data for measurement of a position in an area corresponding to the selected area name. The converted position data is then displayed to the user. Advantageously, a user's present position is displayed relative to the geodetic system in the area corresponding to the selected area name.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate having at least one first electrode formed thereon, and a second substrate having a plurality of second electrodes formed thereon and opposed to the first electrode, a matrix display section being formed which has a plurality of pixel electrodes constituted of the first and second electrodes and arranged in a matrix of rows and columns. The second substrate is opposed to the first substrate with a predetermined gap therebetween. First and second alignment films respectively are formed on the opposed inner surfaces of the first and second substrates. A liquid crystal is sealed between the first and second substrates. An aligning treatment is executed on the first alignment film in a first direction that intersects, at an angle of 5° to 10°, one of a row direction and a column direction of the matrix display section.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel has a contact terminal arrangement region in a central portion of a projected portion of a segment substrate. Segment terminals are arranged in an upper central portion of the contact terminal arrangement region. Common terminals are arranged on the left and right sides of the upper central portion so as to cross the segment terminals. A film wiring board has contact terminal portions respectively connected to the terminals in the contact terminal arrangement region. Therefore, the width of the film wiring board along its entire length can be smaller than that of the display region. Consequently, the cost is reduced and the reliability of interconnection can be considerably improved.

Abstract: A color table stores a plurality of discriminating information so as to discriminate a predetermined data of a document data and a color information corresponding to each discriminating information. An area information indicative of a position on the document which is additionally outputted is stored. When the document is printed, a predetermined data of the document data is discriminated, and the color information corresponding to the discriminated predetermined data is retrieved from the color table. An image generated by an identified color according to the retrieved color information is drawn on the document at a predetermined position indicated by the area information. Accordingly, by an image color which is additionally outputted at the predetermined position, a user can simply identify a type of the document and inherent information of the document by its appearance at a glance.

Abstract: A transmitter includes a time measuring unit. The transmitter also includes a time information storage unit for storing information on the time measured by the time measuring unit when a specified process was performed. The transmitter is responsive to an instruction of transmission to transmit to a receiver information on the time difference between the time measured by the time measuring unit and the time whose information is stored in the time information storage unit. The receiver calculates the time when the specified process was performed by the transmitter on the basis of the information on the received time difference and information on the current time obtained by a time measuring unit. Thus, although the transmitter has no current time measuring unit, the receiver is capable of specifying the time when the specified process was performed.

Abstract: An yttrium film is formed on the surface of a substrate made of an Ni—Cr-based material by deposition or sputtering using resistance heating or an electron beam. The yttrium film is heated in an inert gas atmosphere containing a very small amount of hydrogen to hydrogenate yttrium. The resultant yttrium hydride is excellent as a cold emission material for a cold emission electrode and can be used for a cold emission discharge fluorescent tube.

Abstract: A band which can be changed easily and speedily comprises a first band member to which a case is attached detachably, a second band member disposed to overlap on the first band member, and a loop into which the second band member and a right end portion of the first band member are inserted to overlap each other to secure the right end portion of the first band member to the second band member detachably. By pulling out the right end portion of the first band member from the loop, the right end portion of the first band member can be detached from the second band member. By inserting the right end portion of the first band member and the second band member into the loop to overlap each other, the right end portion of the first band member can be attached to the second band member.

Abstract: An image processing device which displays an image of a letter string input on a display screen, and either the image of a frame which surrounds the letter string or an image of a letter string modifying figure which modifies the letter string. The attribute of the frame image is determined in accordance with the input letter string to thereby omit the operation of deciding the frame attribute. Letter string division information is provided to start a new line of a letter string at a position that the user desires and display position information is provided which determines the display position of each letter of the letter string. When a letter string is input, it is selected from a plurality of letter strings prepared beforehand. The selected letter string is edited to omit the operation of inputting the individual letters. A letter string to be selected is used as the title of a file which stores edited image data.
