Abstract: A semiconductor device has a connection electrode and protective film formed of organic material and covering the connection electrode. An opening is formed in the protective film to expose the connection electrode. A natural oxide layer is etched by argon-based dry etching. The surface layer of the protective film is altered to reduce the insulativity in the dry etching process. After a projection electrode is formed on the connection electrode later, the altered surface layer of the protective film is removed by oxygen-based dry etching. As no altered surface layer remain on the protective film, an adverse affect such as inadequate insulation does not occur.
Abstract: A display data memory which is provided in a segment driver for driving a liquid crystal display panel comprises a plurality of memories. Since the common Y address is provided to all the memories, one predetermined memory is selected when a predetermined X address is decoded. At the time of writing data, a predetermined area in one memory is addressed according to X and Y addresses, and then data is written in the predetermined area. In case data is read out to be displayed, the memories are prohibited from being selected according to outputs from decoders. Data addressed by the common Y address are read out from the memories. Therefore, display data of one line are output as segment signals at a time.
Abstract: Whether or not the reception condition of a received broadcast is good is detected by a reception condition detection unit. If it is detected that the reception condition is good, the broadcast content in the good reception condition is displayed on a display unit. However, if it is detected that the reception condition is not good, another broadcast content in a good reception condition is automatically received, and the broadcast content in the good reception condition is displayed on the display unit. The reception condition is evaluated in a plurality of stages depending on the reception condition of the received broadcast, and the evaluation result is displayed. If it is detected that the reception condition is not good, power supply to an apparatus main body is stopped after an elapse of a predetermined period of time. After an elapse of another predetermined period of time, the reception condition detection unit detects again whether or not a good reception condition is attained.
Abstract: A service center has a plurality of controlled areas. When the service center provides service information through a radio communication network, the service center first broadcasts toward all the areas with outline items of the information with corresponding key codes attached thereto. Users each receive the outline items of the information with a user's terminal and determine as required whether a detail item of the information should be had immediately (an urgent one) or can be had later (a regular one). The results of the determination are reported to the service center, which immediately provides the urgent detail items of the information for the respective users who made requests for having those detail items. The service center broadcasts regular detail items of the information with attached corresponding key codes other than the requested urgent ones of the information toward the terminals which requested the regular detail items of the information at a predetermined time.
Abstract: A semiconductor device having at least first and second MIS transistors of a same P or N conductive type. The first MIS transistor has a first data terminal which receives a high potential Vdd, and the second MIS transistor has a first data terminal which receives a low potential GND lower than the high potential Vdd. An output terminal is coupled to second data terminals of the first and second MIS transistors. A first input terminal is connected to a gate of the first MIS transistor for supplying a non-inverted signal. A second input terminal is directly connected to a gate of one of the first and second MIS transistors for supplying an inverted signal having a reverse polarity to the non-inverted signal and which is synchronized with the non-inverted signal. An output voltage compensating circuit is connected between one of (i) the output terminal and the first input terminal and (ii) the output terminal and the second input terminal.
