  • Publication number: 20110241880
Abstract: A CPU 11, in the condition where the limited mode is not set, outputs the data arbitrarily selected by a user operation from a display unit 18 and a sound speaker 23, and in the condition where the limited mode is set, predetermined data is output instead of data specified by the user. As a result, in the case in which data is output according to the operation of a function included in an electronic device, even if no limitation is imposed to that function, the output of data or information, which the third party should not know about, can be prevented merely by setting the limited mode, in which limitations are imposed on the operation.

  • Patent number: 8024008
Abstract: When an instruction to change the display size of the content of a 1-segment broadcast received by a television broadcast communication unit is given while the content is being displayed on a display screen, and if it is possible to receive the content of a 12-segment broadcast continuously to the content of the 1-segment broadcast, a CPU switches to receiving the 12-segment broadcast and displays the broadcast content in the standard display size (second display size) of the 12-segment broadcast. If it is not possible to receive the 12-segment broadcast continuously to the 1-segment broadcast, the CPU displays the content of the 1-segment broadcast by changing it to the second display size.

  • Patent number: 8010145
Abstract: When moving from a public wireless area to a local wireless area, a mobile communication terminal transmits its telephone number to a local wireless service authentication server to inquire whether the mobile communication terminal can receive a local wireless service. The local wireless service authentication server, in response to the inquiry, determines whether the telephone number of the mobile communication terminal itself is registered in a local telephone number storage unit. When the number is registered therein, a transmission power level reduction instruction signal is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal. The mobile communication terminal, in response to the reception of the signal, controls the wireless unit to reduce output level of the transmission power in a wireless unit to a level that it can be received by a local base station while it cannot be received by a public base station. This enables restricting communication that uses public wireless network.

  • Patent number: 7992783
Abstract: In a mobile terminal, a control section monitors a battery residual amount at a power supply section, if the battery residual amount is less than a preset threshold, it refers to the states of various flags stored in a flag table at a memory section. Subsequently, if the control section judges it is before exit after entry for a service for the object of a lock temporary release and an entry and exit usage service, it changes a noncontact IC card function section to a lock temporary release state. This allows the noncontact IC card function to be in a lock temporary release state, just before the power supply is turned off, even if the battery residual amount is low. Therefore, when the commuter gets off a train and passes through a station ticket gate, the commuter may use the noncontact IC card function.

  • Patent number: 7979050
Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus is enabled to notify its position depending on whether user authentication by its authenticating function is unsuccessful or not, when an instruction for controlling the power of the apparatus is given. A controlling unit determines by a condition determining function whether or not the user authentication by the authenticating function when the user gives a long pressing operation on a power key is unsuccessful or not. In a case where the authentication result coincides with a predetermined function, the controlling unit continues power supply to each element that constitutes a position notifying function. Even after the power is switched off, the position notifying function, which is kept operating, sends position information.

  • Patent number: 7974572
Abstract: When reservation information is inputted, a mobile terminal apparatus (broadcast receiver) 1 stores a mode ID for which the set flag is set at “1” and stored in a mode information memory section 1-3-1 and the inputted reservation information in the reservation information memory section 1-3-3. Subsequently, the apparatus 1 receives a television broadcast or a radio broadcast based on the reservation information. Then, the apparatus 1 judges whether or not the mode ID for which the set flag is set at “1” matches the mode ID that is stored in the reservation information memory section 1-3-3 in the manner so as to be associated with the reservation information. When both match each other, the apparatus 1 outputs the broadcast content to a speaker SP and a display section 1-7, and when both do not match each other, it outputs the broadcast content to a record data memory section 1-3-4.

  • Patent number: 7965873
Abstract: Changing of setting of a predetermined function or file that is selected is controlled only be performing fingerprint authentication while data regarding the predetermined function or file is displayed on a display unit. While data regarding a function arbitrarily selected by an input unit from a plurality of functions is displayed on the display unit, a control unit authenticates a user based on fingerprint information representing a fingerprint pattern read by a fingerprint sensor and registered fingerprint information pre-stored in a fingerprint information area. If the authentication is successful, the control unit changes a “user restriction flag” associated with the function selected by the input unit in protection setting information stored in a user restriction flag storage area to an effective state or an ineffective state.

  • Patent number: 7877085
Abstract: Reception of a list including information on a content not receivable at a current location is avoided in acquiring a multicast content list. A portable terminal searches a wireless base station which can communicate with the portable terminal at a current location thereof, and transmits available sector identification information for identifying the searched wireless base station to a content information server. Based on the available sector identification information and multicast detailed information on a content distributed by the wireless base station, the content information server transmits a list of contents receivable at the current location of the portable terminal to the portable terminal. The portable terminal selects a content from the content list in accordance with user's manipulation, and makes transition to a channel where the selected content is distributed based on the multicast detailed information.

  • Patent number: 7877125
Abstract: A portable terminal device can extrapolate the position of a sound source in the thicknesswise direction regardless of the use style. A slide type portable terminal has an upper casing, a lower casing, and a coupling part that couples the casings in such a way that their positional relation is changeable. The upper casing has a plurality of first microphones, and the lower casing has a second microphone. In a handhold style, one of the first microphones and the second microphone are lined in the thicknesswise direction of the cellular phone. As the upper casing is slid, the other one of the first microphones and the second microphone are lined in the thicknesswise direction of the cellular phone. The position of a sound source in the thicknesswise direction can be extrapolated from output signals of a formed microphone array in the thicknesswise direction.

  • Patent number: 7865195
Abstract: Location positioning setting information is read from a setting storage section when the user depressed a power key. The location positioning setting information comprises setting information, such as the maximum duration time of the location positioning operation and the operation timing when a power-off event has been generated. A control section turns off the power of a display section, a speaker, a microphone, etc., excluding a communication function for transmitting location positioning and positioning results. In this state, a location positioning section acquires the positional information of the mobile communication terminal. Then, a wireless communication section transmits the location positioning information of the positioned mobile communication terminal to a predetermined monitoring server which manages the positional information of the mobile communication terminal.

  • Patent number: 7859480
Abstract: A portable electronic device having an RFID function has an RFID antenna having a planar coil formed by winding a conductor. The RFID antenna is a loop antenna having a loop diameter corresponding to RFID with a strong electromagnetic field characteristic, and has an antenna pattern where a part of its coil turn which is other than an innermost coil turn is placed inward of the innermost coil turn. The antenna pattern can be provided by bending or branching a part of a coil turn of the conductor which is other than the innermost coil turn in such a way that the part of the coil turn is laced inward of the innermost coil turn, thereby ensuring compensation for the magnetic field strength at the center portion of the antenna and achieving excellent communications without a non-communicatable area even with the RFID having a slight electromagnetic field characteristic.
