Abstract: The present invention relates to hydrophilic, swellable graft copolymers composed, in random distribution, of 0.5 to 20% by weight of radicals of the general formula I ##STR1## of 79 to 99% by weight of radicals containing an acidic group, of the general formula II ##STR2## and of 0.1 to 2% by weight of radicals of a crosslinking agent which are derived from monomers having at least two olefinically unsaturated double bonds, and the radicals X, Z, m, n, z and also R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 are defined as given in the description, a process for the preparation of these graft copolymers and also their use as absorbents for water and aqueous solutions.

Abstract: In the process for the preparation of 2-substituted 1-(acylaminoalkyl)-2-imidazolines of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R denotes an alkylene radical and R.sup.1 denotes a fatty acid radical, for example, a fatty acid and a dialkylenetriamine are reacted in a molar ratio of (1.9 to 2.0): 1 in such a way that the dialkylenetriamine is initially introduced hot under an inert gas atmosphere and the fatty acid is metered in hot and the amido amine formation is subsequently completed by heating to temperatures from 140.degree. to 190.degree. C. and the cyclization to the compound of the formula I is subsequently carried out at an under-pressure of at least 50 mbar.

Abstract: The .beta.-modification, which is stable under dyeing conditions, of the dyestuff of the formula ##STR1## is prepared by heating the .alpha.-modification, which is unstable under dyeing conditions, at temperatures of 60.degree. to 180.degree.
