Abstract: Methods and systems for providing multiple techniques to a customer premises equipment to acquire network connectivity. A method for acquiring an Internet Protocol (IP) lease includes sending, by a network device at a customer premises to a service provider system, a request for a preferred acquisition posture, where the network device is provisioned with multiple acquisition postures including the preferred acquisition posture, receiving, by the network device from the service provider system, a selected acquisition posture, attempting, by the network device, to acquire the IP lease using the selected acquisition posture, and operating, by the network device, using the acquired IP lease.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to characterization of digital content, such as in a content delivery and/or service provider network. In one embodiment, a method is provided for identifying characteristics of digital content by a first-pass analysis of the content data, and subsequent adjustment of results of the first-pass data analysis based on a heuristic analysis. In one variant, the first-pass analysis is based on an extant (COTS) or off-the-shelf analytics framework which generates a result; artificial intelligence and/or machine learning techniques are utilized for analyzing the result based on a multi-source or multivariate analytical framework to enable convergence of a final result having suitable level of accuracy, yet with optimized temporal and processing overhead characteristics. In one implementation, the methods and apparatus are adapted for use in a content distribution network advertisement ingestion processing system.

Abstract: In wireless communications, an uplink imbalance can exist for a wireless device (e.g., a cell phone), where the uplink signal strength is insufficient for reliable uplink transmissions from the wireless device to the serving node (e.g., 4G/5G base station or Wi-Fi access point) even though the downlink signal strength is sufficient for reliable downlink transmissions from the serving node to the wireless device. In one implementation, the wireless device detects an uplink imbalance based on missing downlink ACK messages from the serving node in response to its periodic uplink measurement reports to the serving node. In another implementation, the network (e.g., the serving node) detects an uplink imbalance based on missing uplink measurement reports from the wireless device. In either case, the detection of an uplink imbalance triggers initiation of handover processing to a neighbor node having sufficient signal strength.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a clearinghouse AAA server receives, from a WiFi network AAA server of a WiFi network, a request for a priority UE to access an external data network via the WiFi network, accesses a Declared Emergency Location Registry (DELR) database to determine whether a current emergency situation has been declared for the WiFi network, determines whether the priority UE is authenticated and authorized to access the external data network via the WiFi network, and determines whether the priority UE should receive priority or non-priority access to the external data network via the WiFi network. Depending on the situation, the WiFi network may be the UE's home WiFi network or a visited WiFi network having a roaming agreement with the home WiFi network. In this way, priority UEs can receive priority access to external data networks via Wifi networks during declared emergency situations.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a clearinghouse AAA server receives, from a network AAA server of a network, a request for a priority UE to access an external data network via the network, accesses a Declared Emergency Location Registry (DELR) database to determine whether a current emergency situation has been declared for the network, determines whether the priority UE is permitted (e.g., authenticated and authorized) to access the external data network via the network, and determines whether the priority UE should receive priority or non-priority access to the external data network via the network. Depending on the situation, the network may be the UE's home network or a visited network having a roaming agreement with the home network. In this way, priority UEs can receive priority access to external data networks via networks during declared emergency situations.

Abstract: According to one configuration, a communication management resource such as a SIM provisioning platform receives input from a mobile communication device to activate use of the mobile communication device in a private wireless network. The communication management resource authenticates use of the mobile communication device in the private wireless network. Subsequent to authentication, the communication management resource populates an access file such as private SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) information for use by the mobile communication device to access the private wireless network. The access file is populated with information such as a unique cell identifier value, encryption information, identification of supported services, etc. The communication management resource communicates the newly generated access file (such as SIM information) to the mobile communication device, enabling the mobile communication device use of the private wireless network.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing and reconciling data traffic utilization information from a variety of sources including client devices and service provider networks are described. The methods take into consideration that wireless devices tracking usage data may not accurately reflect the amount of usage measured by network devices. This may be because of overhead the client devices are not aware of or because different measurement techniques or accounting metrics are used by the service provider network. The methods and apparatus may and sometimes do take into consideration that while some client devices, e.g., android devices, may trach and report usage aid/or location information through the use of an application which provides such information to the network service provider, such information may not be readily available from other devices such Apple iOS devices. The described data tracking and location assignment methods are used in some embodiments to determine base station placement.

Abstract: A central computer system receives a first plurality of event records, each event record identifying one or more events that have occurred in a device of a plurality of different devices. The central computer system identifies, from the first plurality of event records, a first group of event records that identify a same first set of one or more events that occurred on a first subset of the devices. The central computer system determines that a total number of the event records in the first group of event records exceeds a first threshold criterion. In response to determining that the total number of the event records in the first group of event records exceeds the first threshold criterion, the central computer system sends to a destination, information about the first set of one or more events.

Abstract: A content distribution system as discussed herein includes one or more instances of communication management hardware. The communication management hardware tracks a status of multiple different groupings of edge nodes in a content delivery network. Each of the edge nodes is operative to distribute content (such as video content, video segments, digital assets, etc.) in a network environment. The communication device is redirected to the communication management hardware for selection of an appropriate edge node to deliver content to the communication device. To provide load balancing, the communication management hardware selects an appropriate edge node from the different available edge nodes in different edge node clusters. The communication management hardware then communicates an identity of the selected edge node to the communication device. The communication device then communicates with the selected edge node to retrieve the content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for prioritizing data traffic in small-cell wireless system. In one embodiment, the system utilizes “quasi-licensed” CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) wireless spectrum in conjunction with a wireless communication network (e.g., 3GPP 4G-LTE or 5G-NR-based). A “traffic profile” message is used to prioritize the data traffic. In one variant, the traffic profile message is generated by a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) such as a CBRS FWA, and includes data related to CPE identification, default bearer identification, number of client devices served by the CPE (e.g., via a wireless router connected to the CPE), traffic type and/or priority level associated with each client device and/or data traffic type, etc. In another variant, the base station provides data services to a plurality of fixed wireless access (FWA) apparatus installed at user or subscriber premises of a network based on prioritization according to the present disclosure.

Abstract: Methods and systems for reducing power consumption in a multi-channel passive optical network (PON). A processor in the PON may monitor the channels in the multi-channel PON to detect a currently inactive channel, determine whether the detected channel has been inactive for an extended period of time, and deactivate the detected channel (by deenergizing transmitter(s) and/or receiver(s) associated with the detected channel) in response to determining that the channel has remained inactive for an extended period of time. The processor may re-activate the channel in response to determining that an optical signal has been reliably present on the channel for a sufficient period of time.

Abstract: An aspect includes a method for use with a mobile communications device comprising a plurality of subscriber identification modules sharing a cache. The method includes a first subscriber identification module authenticating with and connecting to the network, followed by a second subscriber identification module authenticating with and connecting to the network. The method also includes, while the first subscriber identification module is requesting and receiving first data from the network and storing the first data in the cache, the second identification module requesting and receiving second data from the network and storing the second data in the cache. The method further includes an application executing on the device retrieving and processing at least a portion of the first and second data stored in the cache, while at least one of the first and second subscriber identification modules is storing additional data received from the network in the cache.

Abstract: A computing system receives at least one first image of a first device affixed to a structure above ground. The computing system determines that the at least one first image depicts a CATV tap comprising a plurality of coaxial connectors. The computing system determines, based in part on the at least one first image and a set of coaxial cables, each coaxial cable connected to a coaxial connector of the plurality of coaxial connectors, that a use status of the CATV tap is an authorized use status or an unauthorized use status. The computing system performs an action based on the use status.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a device connectivity services system. A method for using the device connectivity services includes receiving a request to connect with a device to perform one or more tasks at the device, processing the request with respect to connectivity factors related to the request and the device, scheduling the request based on the connectivity factors, instantiating a controller to execute the one or more tasks at the device, sending commands to the device over a connection to perform the one or more tasks, and receiving responses from the device over the connection after completing the one or more tasks.

Abstract: A plurality of signal quality values that characterize signal qualities of the corresponding OFDM channel's subcarriers of a channel used by a first cable modem to communicate with an aggregation device are received. Due to in-band interference it is determined that a first subcarrier has a first signal quality value outside of a desirable signal quality threshold range for a pre-determined period of time. The aggregation device that provides data to the first cable modem is identified. To mitigate the interference impact, a signal analyzer sends an instruction to the aggregation device that identifies the first subcarrier and the first cable modem and that instructs the aggregation device to reduce a first transmission data rate used to transmit data on the first subcarrier.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for coordinating operation of two or more wireless networks operating within a common area or venue. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide mechanisms for scheduling access node(s) of one or more of the wireless networks relative to others of the networks so as to minimize interference or contention for common frequency resources (e.g., unlicensed spectrum such as that used by WLAN, NR-U or LTE-U technologies). In one variant, a network coordinator process generates schedule data that is pushed to one or more of the wireless networks that specifies temporal and spatial aspects wherein access nodes of the recipient one or more networks can operate (e.g., transmit) with suitable levels of interference from other wireless network(s) operating within the area or venue. The schedule data is separate from underlying protocol scheduling by the access nodes, thereby preserving all operational aspects of the underlying ireless protocols.

Abstract: Collect a full band capture spectral reading from a plurality of cable/fiber broadband network customer units (e.g., cable modems or equivalent optical units); for each of the cable/fiber broadband network customer units, construct an ideal spectral reading. For each of the cable/fiber broadband network customer units, subtract the ideal spectral reading from the full band capture spectral reading to obtain a resultant spectrum. For at least one of the cable/fiber broadband network customer units, identify a persistent deviation from zero in the resultant spectrum that does not match a known impairment type. Identify at least one new impairment type corresponding to the persistent deviation from zero. Remediation of the new impairment type can be carried out as appropriate, and/or a detection pattern can be deployed to identify future occurrences of the new impairment type.

Abstract: A communication management resource receives first input indicating a first time-division communication configuration associated with first wireless stations operated by a first wireless network service provider. The communication management resource receives second input indicating a second time-division communication configuration associated with second wireless stations such as operated by a second wireless network service provider. Based on spectral analysis of implementing the first time-division communication configuration and the second time-division communication configuration, the communication management resource controls implementation of time-division communication configurations by the first wireless stations and the second wireless stations.

Abstract: A single piece of content, e.g., a creative, is delivered to multiple devices through a QAM or multicast communications technique, with each receiving device corresponding to an impression opportunity in some cases. Bidders are provided the opportunity to bid on an individual single impression opportunity basis even when the impression corresponds to a multicast or QAM content delivery method and thus multiple impressions. Because impression opportunity offers and bids are for single impressions the bidder systems need not deal with the technical complexities of multipliers when receiving, considering and placing bids. DSPs are normally used to place bids on single Internet delivered impressions can bid on impression opportunities corresponding to QAM or multicast delivered program content with the system being used to determine the winner of bids handling the complexity of tracking of multiple individual bid wins and eventually determining the winner of an N opportunity deal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for managing uplink resource grants in wireless networks. An exemplary method embodiment includes a mobile terminal: receiving from a base station a first uplink resource grant schedule including a first uplink resource grant and a second uplink resource grant, the first uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal an exclusive right to use a first set of resource blocks on a recurring basis and the second uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal a non-exclusive right to use a second set of resource blocks on a recurring basis; and using, by the mobile terminal, the second set of resource blocks to transmit data to the base station during at least a first time interval of the first period of time, said first period of time including multiple time intervals during which the mobile terminal has been granted the right to transmit data.
