Patent number: 12245048Abstract: A wireless system is shared amongst a hierarchal tier of entities. A communication management resource receives notification that a second-tier priority entity has been allocated use of a second wireless spectrum as a replacement to first wireless spectrum. In one embodiment, the first wireless spectrum is revoked from the second-tier priority entity based on use of the first wireless spectrum by a first-tier priority entity (such as incumbent entity). The communication management resource controls a wireless transmit power level of a third-tier priority entity in the hierarchy to provide protected use of the second wireless spectrum by the second-tier priority entity. According to one configuration, the communication management resource controls a power level of wireless communications transmitted by a wireless base station operated by the third-tier priority entity.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2023Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Abdulrauf Hafeez, Maulik V. Publication number: 20250071833Abstract: When two dual-SIM, dual-subscription (DSDS) wireless devices are located outside of their own (first) network operator's coverage area, but inside the coverage area of a second network operator having a roaming agreement with the first operator, the two devices are instructed to transmit data directly to one another via a side-link that is instigated and approved by the first operator, thereby reducing fees owed by the first operator to the second operator for the inter-device communications. In one implementation, the first operator secures a channel grant for the side-link from a CBRS SAS, and synchronization information for the side-link is provided to the two devices by the second operator.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2023Publication date: February 27, 2025Applicant: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Saran Khalid

Patent number: 12238642Abstract: According to one configuration, a gateway establishes a wireless communication link with a first communication device. The first communication device has access to a remote network via a path including the wireless communication link and a communication link though the gateway. The communication management hardware receives a notification indicating attributes of a wireless interface of the first communication device. The gateway or other suitable entity monitors for presence of wireless communications from the wireless interface advertising availability of a wireless service provided by the first communication device. In response to detecting the availability of or actual use of the wireless service as advertised by a wireless communication transmitted from the first communication device, the gateway controls a bandwidth provided to the first communication device to access the first communication device.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2023Date of Patent: February 25, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Timothy Clark Bleidorn-Piper

Patent number: 12232080Abstract: A base station generates, e.g., based on current UE and current system information, a UE specific paging priority list for an idle or inactive mode UE identifying a set of (small cell base) stations which are to be used to subsequently page the UE. The base station communicates the paging priority list to the UE in a radio resource control release message. In some embodiments, the release message further conveys information indicating a maximum paging monitoring duration and/or a maximum number of paging cells to be monitored. The UE receives the release message and transitions into idle or inactive mode. The UE uses the communicated information to perform efficient paging, identifying which small cells are potential sources of a paging signal, and determine how long to monitor for a paging signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2020Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Maulik Vaidya, Curt Wong, Yildirim Sahin, Amitav Mukherjee

Patent number: 12225621Abstract: According to one configuration, multiple users in a tiered hierarchy share use of a wireless spectrum. For example, a spectrum access system receives a notification indicating that a first-priority tier 1 user in the hierarchy temporarily needs access to a first wireless spectrum assigned to a second-priority tier 2 user in the hierarchy. In response to the notification, the spectrum access system temporarily allocates the second-priority tier 2 user use of a second wireless spectrum. The spectrum access system protects use of the second wireless spectrum by the second-priority tier 2 user from a third-priority tier 3 user in the hierarchy. In certain instances, the one or more spectrum access systems receive the same notification of use of the first wireless spectrum by the first-priority tier 1 user. The multiple spectrum access systems not serving the second-priority tier 2 user protect the Tier 2 User from any Tier 3 Users in the hierarchy.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2023Date of Patent: February 11, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Abdulrauf Hafeez, Maulik V. Patent number: 12218792Abstract: A bridged gateway coupled to a local area network (LAN) receives a layer 2 frame from a device coupled to the LAN. The bridged gateway forwards, to a network gateway router that provides layer 3 routing services for the LAN, the layer 2 frame via a layer 2 tunnel. The bridged gateway determines that the layer 2 frame comprises a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) discover message, the DHCP discover message including an initial message in a four message sequence used by the network gateway router and the device to provide an internet protocol (IP) address to the device. The bridged gateway determines that the four message sequence between the device and the network gateway router did not complete. The bridged gateway, in response to determining the four message sequence did not complete, sends, to a destination, an alert that comprises information indicating a problem with the network gateway router.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2023Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Timothy Bleidorn

Patent number: 12212358Abstract: A network control device, e.g., a gNB, receives a message from a communications device, e.g. a UE, indicating that the communications device is experiencing an in-device coexistence (IDC) problem, e.g. in the 52.6 GHz-71 GHz frequency range with respect to NR-U and WiGig. The message is one of: i) an IDC assistance message indicating that the victim system is Wi-Gig or ii) an antenna panel switch message requesting that the network control device instruct the communications device to change the antenna panel that it uses for uplink NR signaling. The network control device generates and sends a response message to the communications device including: a selected new frequency to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling or a selected different antenna panel to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling. The communications device implements the change reducing or avoiding the IDC problem.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2023Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Amitav Mukherjee, Frank Azcuy, Maulik Vaidya

Patent number: 12213118Abstract: A communication management resource receives input indicating presence of a pair of wireless stations including a first wireless station and a second wireless station in a network environment. Based on a determined amount of adjacent channel interference between the first wireless station and the second wireless station, the communication management resource generates an adjacent channel interference value. The communication management resource assigns the adjacent channel interference value to the pair of wireless stations. The adjacent channel interference value indicates an estimate of adjacent channel interference between the first wireless station and the second wireless station. In a network of wireless stations, the adjacent channel interference value is used as a basis to identify pairs of wireless stations that are susceptible to adjacent channel interference.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2023Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Abdulrauf Hafeez
