Patent number: 12177809Abstract: According to one configuration, a wireless network environment includes a first wireless network and a second wireless network. A mobile communication device in the wireless network environment receives first paging notifications directed to the mobile communication device from a first wireless base station such as operated by a first wireless network service provider. The mobile communication device receives second paging notifications directed to the mobile communication device from a second wireless base station such as operated by a second wireless network service provider. The wireless network environment provides improved paging over conventional techniques.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2020Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Amitav Mukherjee, Maulik V. Patent number: 12177658Abstract: A first dual SIM user equipment (UE) has a first wireless connection to first Citizens Broadband radio Services Devices (CBSD) of a first network and a second wireless connection to a second CBSD of a second network. Different encryption and different frequency hopping patterns are used with regard to communicating the same voice packet information over the first and second wireless connections. The same voice information is attempted to be redundantly communicated over the two connections, e.g. concurrently or with a slight delay with regard to the two connections. The CBRS communications are typically less reliable than cellular licensed spectrum communications, and a particular encrypted voice packet may, and sometimes is lost; however, the redundancy is used to compensate for expected losses. Successfully recovered encrypted voice packets are sent from the CBSDs to a packet synchronizer which performs decryption and combines the recovered packets into a single packet stream.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2023Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Volkan Sevindik, Haider Syed

Patent number: 12177508Abstract: A system includes a primary playback system and a secondary playback system. The primary playback system plays back selected content. The secondary playback system plays back supplemental media associated with the content played back on the primary playback system. A media playback function (such as associated with the secondary playback system) monitors playback of the content on the primary playback system. For example, a first processing thread of the media playback function initially synchronizes playback of supplemental media on the secondary playback system with respect to playback of the content on the primary playback system. Based on further monitoring of playing back the content on the secondary playback system, a second processing thread of the media playback function verifies synchronization (and, when needed, initiates re-synchronization) of playback of the supplemental media on the secondary playback system with respect to playback of the content on the primary playback system.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2022Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventors: Cristian G. Patent number: 12170986Abstract: Methods and apparatus for managing frequency reassignment within wireless access nodes so as to minimize data session disruption. In one embodiment, the frequency reassignments occur within a quasi-licensed system utilizing 3.5 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) spectrum, and a reassignment of wireless spectrum that mitigates disruption or loss of continuity to existing data sessions of users of devices associated with a CBSD/xNB is provided via notification of the associated devices (e.g., Category B Consumer Premises Equipment or CPE, such as an FWA) of the reassignment by the CBSD/xNB. In one variant, the associated devices are instructed by the CBSD/xNB to invoke a “wait and re-establish” protocol that obviates a full frequency band rescan in favor of a designated target frequency provided to the CBSD/xNB by the cognizant SAS or DP.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2021Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Assignee: CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS OPERATING, LLCInventors: Hossam Hmimy, Mohamed Daoud, Matthew Hubbard

Publication number: 20240397494Abstract: In a CBRS system, a spectrum access system (SAS) ensures access by incumbents to specified CBRS channels by establishing temporary whisper zones as needed based on information about incumbent locations and channel usage received from an incumbent tracking system. The SAS relies on environmental sensing capability (ESC) sensors located within the whisper zones to detect actual incumbent use of the specified channels. Upon such detection, the SAS controls the allocation of CBRS channels to non-whisper-zone base stations to ensure incumbent access within dynamic protection zones (DPZs). Establishing temporary whisper zone only when needed and ensuring incumbent access within DPZs based on detection of actual incumbent use result in efficient allocation of the CBRS spectrum for commercial use.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 26, 2023Publication date: November 28, 2024Applicant: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Abdulrauf Hafeez

Publication number: 20240397140Abstract: A content delivery network (CDN) includes UE gateways, a service switch (SS) mesh network, and server gateways. The CDN nodes maintain cache lists of mappings identifying corresponding upstream system nodes for content items available at content servers connected to the server gateways. When a CDN node receives an upstream service instance request for a specific content item by a corresponding UE connected to a UE gateway, upon determining that a mapping for the specific content item is in its cache list, the CDN node forwards the upstream service instance request to the corresponding upstream system node as part of a process of defining a downstream data path for the specific content item from the corresponding content server to the corresponding UE. The CDN enables service-level content delivery at lower levels of latency than conventional DNS-based systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2023Publication date: November 28, 2024Applicant: Charter Communications Operating, LLCInventor: Deh-Min Richard Wu
