  • Patent number: 11627544
Abstract: Devices including a wireless receiver, e.g., indoor CBSDs, in a local network, e.g. a campus network, monitor for wireless signals conveying synchronization information. Different devices in the local area network may detect wireless signals conveying synchronization information from one or more different sources. A device detecting a source of synchronization information generates and sends a timing signal accuracy report to a switch, e.g. an intelligent IDF switch, included in the local network. The switch receives multiple timing signal accuracy reports, selects a “best” sync source and designates the particular device, e.g., particular CBSD, which reported the best sync source, to be the current master timing device for the local network. The switch communicates the address, e.g., IP address, of the selected master to the devices within the local network.

  • Patent number: 11627121
Abstract: According to one configuration, a wireless access service provider selects and assigns a particular authentication option amongst multiple different authentication options to an entity such as a wireless access point or a sub-network supported by the wireless access point. When a communication device attempts to use the corresponding wireless access point provided by the wireless access service provider, a wireless access gateway receives information from the wireless access point indicating the particular authentication option assigned to authenticate the communication device. The wireless access gateway communicates the notification of the particular authentication option to an authentication manager, which provides the wireless access gateway with network address information indicating a captive portal in which to authenticate the communication device.

  • Patent number: 11627619
Abstract: A first communications device may use one or a plurality of communications connections in parallel for a communications session between the first communications device and the second communications device. The first device makes decisions as to the number of connections to use, the level of error correcting code to use, and/or the level of packet redundancy to use based on test scores corresponding to one or more communications session connections. The first communications device generates a first test score corresponding to a first communications session connection based on a test performed over a first test path between the first communications device and a test server, said first communications session connection and the first test path sharing a common link, e.g., a common wireless link between the first device and an access point. The first device may generate and use an overall connection score corresponding to a plurality of session connections.

  • Publication number: 20230098387
Abstract: A wireless system is shared amongst a hierarchal tier of entities. A communication management resource receives notification that a second-tier priority entity has been allocated use of a second wireless spectrum as a replacement to first wireless spectrum. In one embodiment, the first wireless spectrum is revoked from the second-tier priority entity based on use of the first wireless spectrum by a first-tier priority entity (such as incumbent entity). The communication management resource controls a wireless transmit power level of a third-tier priority entity in the hierarchy to provide protected use of the second wireless spectrum by the second-tier priority entity. According to one configuration, the communication management resource controls a power level of wireless communications transmitted by a wireless base station operated by the third-tier priority entity.

  • Patent number: 11616699
Abstract: Obtaining location metadata for network devices using augmented reality (AR) is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an AR computing device receives first user inputs indicating boundary points of a device region, and determines first spatial coordinates for each boundary point. The AR computing device next receives a second user input that indicates a network device within the device region, and determines second spatial coordinates for the network device. The AR computing device may also correlate the network device with a known connected network device. The AR computing device then transmits, to a server computing device, first metadata that includes the first spatial coordinates and an identifier of the device region, and second metadata that includes the second spatial coordinates and an identifier of the indicated network device. In some embodiments, the metadata may be employed, e.g., to generate a floorplan visualization and/or a signal strength map of the device region.

  • Patent number: 11617182
Abstract: In a (e.g., 5G CBRS) radio system, a processor (e.g., a SAS) receives, from (e.g., CBSD) base stations, beam-level information about beams used by the base stations to communicate with UEs, uses the information to assess interference associated with the beams, and instructs the base stations to modify one or more specified beams in order to reduce the interference. In addition to powering down one or more specified beams, a base station may create new beams to attempt to satisfy UE bandwidth needs without creating unacceptable levels of interference.

  • Patent number: 11606743
Abstract: A radio access network (RAN) for a wireless communication network transmits, to user equipment (UE), information about NPN services provided by a non-public network (NPN) supported by the wireless network, where the UE is not subscribed to the NPN. In some embodiments, the NPN service information is periodically broadcasted to the UE; in other embodiments, the information is transmitted in response to receiving a request from the UE. In response to receiving the NPN service information, the UE transmits and the RAN receives an on-boarding request from the UE to on-board the UE to the NPN, which the RAN forwards to an on-boarding network (OBN) of the wireless network. In response, the RAN receives NPN credentials for the UE from the OBN, which the RAN forwards to the UE, which uses the NPN credentials to register to the NPN, thereby enabling the non-subscribing UE to subscribe to the NPN.
