Abstract: Concentrated, stable solutions of alkali metal alkoxides ROM, which consist of an alkali metal cation and a secondary or tertiary alcohol residue, in aprotic solvents are described, wherein, relative to alkoxide content, the solutions contain at least 1.0 and at most 15 mol % of alkali metal hydroxide M′OH and at most 1.0 mol % of free alcohol R—OH, wherein R is a secondary or tertiary alkyl residue and wherein M and M′ are mutually independently Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs. A process for the production of the solution and the use thereof are also described.
Abstract: In a method for the pretreatment of work pieces having a surface made of aluminium or aluminium alloys, for non-cutting shaping and/or the connection by welding or gluing to work pieces as well as for a subsequent permanent corrosion-preventing treatment, the work pieces are subjected to a three-stage treatment by
a) rinsing with an aqueous, acidic solution containing a mineral acid,
b) rinsing with water,
c) bringing them into contact with an aqueous, acidic solution which is chromium-free and polymer-free and contains Ti and Zr as complex fluorides in a weight ratio of Ti:Zr of 2:1 to 1:2, in such a way that, after the subsequent drying off, a layer weight of 2 to 15 mg/m2 (calculated as Ti/Zr metal) results, wherein depending on the type of application, solutions having different concentrations and different pH values are used.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing workpieces suitable for phosphatizing for chipless cold forming by acid pickling, rinsing, drying and treatment with acid reaction lubricants containing phosphate ions. According to said method the workpieces are rinsed before drying with a solution which contains lactic acid, has a pH below 3 and preferably a temperature of between 60 and 80° C. Preferred embodiments of the invention consist of rinsing the workpieces with a solution which in addition contains phosphoric acid, has a lactic acid concentration of between 1 and 50 g/l and a weight ratio of lactic acid to phosphoric acid of between 1:9 and 9:1.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a plastic film on metal surfaces, and a treatment liquid for producing this film. The treatment liquid, prior to wetting the metal, contains 0.1 to 50% (by weight) of a non-volatile film-forming mixture of resins, and 99.9 to 50% of a water-miscible, water-soluble or water solvent, and forms a film on the metal. The treatment liquid, just prior to wetting the metal, has a temperature of 10-100° C., and the metal surface has a temperature higher than the treatment liquid by at least 20° C. and a temperature in the region of 30 to 700° C. The treatment liquid is adjusted in such a way that its constituents do not substantially coagulate, settle or decompose, and such that the molecular weight distribution and the viscosity of the treatment liquid does not substantially change during use.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating metallic surfaces consisting of zinc, magnesium or aluminium or of the alloys of zinc, magnesium or aluminium, to which lacquer, coatings of plastic material, paint, sealants or adhesives are applied after treatment. The treatment of the metallic surfaces takes place at between 10° C. and 100° C. by immersion, spraying or rolling with an aqueous solution. The solution has a pH of between 2 and 13 and contains one or more compounds of the type XYZ at a concentration of between 10−5 and 1 mol/l. Y is an organic group containing between 2 and 50 C atoms and has a straight-chain structure. X is a COOH, HSO3, HSO4, (OH)2PO, (OH)2PO2, (OH)(OR′)PO or (OH)(OR′)PO2 group. Z is a OH, SH, NH2, NHR′, CN, CH═CH2, OCN, epoxy, CH2═CR″—COO, acrylamide, COOH, (OH)2PO, (OH)2PO2, (OH)(OR′)PO or (OH)(OR′)PO2 group. R′ is an alkyl group with between 1 and 4 C atoms.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing alkali metal alcoholates by reacting alcohol with alkali metal in an aprotic, organic solvent in the presence of an H acceptor such as e.g. isoprene, butadiene, styrene or methyl styrene.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a gel material which is not free-flowing, is reversibly transparent as a function of temperature and comprises nonionic and/or nonionically acting surfactants as clouding components. The preparation of the gel material can be integrated into the customary production process for laminated glazing in a simple manner and produces frost-stable glazing which can be employed universally indoors and outdoors. When applied, the strength of the system is so high that it is no longer free-flowing at all and bulging of the laminated pane and running-out are therefore no longer possible.
