Abstract: A stryrene/butadiene graft copolymer latex has a graft substrate component with a comparatively high content of repeating units obtained by polymerization of styrene. The graft copolymer exhibits correspondingly comparatively hard and soft regions with a high and a low Tg, respectively.Vulcanizable compositions based thereon can be used for production of latex foams distinguished by a low compression set in a temperature range from 20.degree. to 70.degree. C., a high tensile strength, and a high elongation at break, and by a high compression resistance.

Abstract: For the preparation of pure, anhydrous cyclic imido esters, nitriles are reacted with amino alcohols with splitting off of ammonia at temperatures of 90.degree.-230.degree. Abstract: A naphtha-soluble, hydrogenated C.sub.1-4 -alkyl C.sub.6-10 -aryl ketone/formaldehyde resin, having an oxygen content of at least 6% by weight and a softening point of at least 70.degree. C. can be produced by a process comprising the step of hydrogenating a C.sub.1-4 -alkyl C.sub.6-10 -aryl ketone/formaldehyde resin under a hydrogen pressure of at least 200 bar and a temperature of 140.degree.-300.degree. C., in the presence of a nickel, palladium, palladium/copper or palladium/nickel catalyst. These resins are useful, for example, as additives to improve the hardness of varnishes and other coatings.

Abstract: A process for producing vinyl chloride polymers and copolymers by suspension polymerization is carried out in the presence of small amounts of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers with a vinyl acetate content of 38% by weight to 55% by weight and with a viscosity number of 95-210 ml/g, the catalyst being added to the polymerization charge in dissolved form. Abstract: Vinyl chloride polymers and copolymers are produced by suspension polymerization in the presence of a small amount of specific ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. The catalysts, the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and the monomer or monomer mixture are added to the polymerization charge before the suspension agent. The resultant polyvinyl chloride is especially suitable for lowering the viscosity of polyvinyl chloride plastisols.
