Abstract: Call identification information regarding calls placed to or from a wireless device that subscribes to a Call Log service is recorded and stored in network-based incoming and outgoing call information logs, preferably at a Service Node. The network is prompted to capture call identification information by triggers provisioned on the subscribing line, wherein the triggers identify the subscribing directory number as a subscriber to the Call Log service. The call information logs can be retrieved by any requesting communication device that sends a presentation request and can be authenticated at the network via provision of an authentication code, or via referencing number in a network-based database permissions associated with the requesting communication device's directory.
Abstract: A base station for providing flexible data rate transmission in a telecommunications system. The base station comprises an interface coupled to a signal processor coupled to a transmitter. The interface receives an incoming data stream. The signal processor receives the incoming data stream from the receiver and selects an operating downlink chip rate from at least two chip rates. The signal processor selects a spreading factor and spreads the incoming data stream into a spread data stream with a channelization code. The transmitter, receives the spread data stream from the signal processor and transmits the spread data stream over an air interface.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a switch-based C/I matrix for a wireless network is provided. A cell-under-test (CUT) may broadcast system unique carrier and interference signals to mobile stations serviced by the CUT and mobile stations serviced by measurement sectors of other cells in the wireless network. The mobile stations make downlink signal strength measurements, and transmit the signal strength measurements to the corresponding sectors and CUT that service the mobile stations. The measurement sectors may be further configured to measure signal strength of the interference signals transmitted from the CUT on the uplink. The signal strengths are then processed to generate the switch-based C/I matrix.

Abstract: A service request is received and associated with a subscriber id. Profile information is accessed for the source of the service request. A copy of the profile information is stored in a network element employed by the source of the service request to access the network.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for adapting base station equipment at a sectorized cell site to relieve high call blocking rates in a first heavily utilized sector. The method includes selecting a TCB cabinet corresponding to a second more sparsely utilized sector and placing first sector transceivers in a first set of designated slots of the TCB cabinet and second sector. A split receive (uplink) signal path within the second sector TCB cabinet is achieved by substituting a four input port combiner card for a conventional two input port combiner card. First and second sector receive signals are respectively directed to first and second input port pairs of the combiner card and are separately routed by the TCB cabinet backplane circuitry to the first and second sector transceivers. The foregoing method allows the cell site owner to add needed transceivers to the heavily-utilized sector without purchasing and installing a new base station.
Abstract: Advice of charge information is provided utilizing the session initiation protocol (SIP) in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem without utilizing an application server. The advice of charge message is provided to a user via the serving call/session control function and the home subscription server. When a request for a service is received by the serving call/session control function, the state of a binary, Boolean flag associated with the originator of the request is analyzed. Depending upon the state of the flag, either the request is routed to its intended destination, or an advice of charge message is routed to originating user, advising the user of the charge for the requested service. If the user accepts the charge, the serving call/session control function transmits the request for routing to the intended destination, and the flag is toggled. If the user declines the charge, the call is ended.
Abstract: Personal address book data is revised and updated based on communication sources and destination. An address tabulator compares a number of communications directed to a selected destination and based on a subscriber profile, determines if address or contact information associated with the destination is to be added to a personal address book or other contact database. Contact information can be obtained using a reverse phone number lookup in a white pages or yellow pages directory, or using an Internet-based search engine or database. The tabulator can be configured to access the subscriber profile prior to initiating a communication, during a communication, or after completion of the communication. In one example, subscriber billing records are delivered to the tabulator for identification of destinations for which contact information is to be added to the personal address book.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to preventing unauthorized switching of mobile communications service providers in a system using portable phone numbers that follow the customer, even when the customer switches mobile communications service providers. A portable phone number as associated with a customer and with a first mobile communications service provider. A record of this association is stored in, for example, a data store that is accessible by multiple communications service providers within a mobile communications network. When a request for porting the portable phone number to a new service provider is received, the request is analyzed to determine whether the customer has authorized the requested port. If the customer has requested and authorized porting by providing, for example, a password or a response to an authorization request, a new association between the new mobile communications service provider and the portable phone number is stored in the data store.
Abstract: A subscriber to a remote call forwarding feature on a wire-line telephone line associated with a PBX (101) or central office (402), hereinafter, a “user”, can enable that feature by entering a feature code from an IP terminal (112, 412). The user enters a feature code from his/her IP terminal (112, 412), which feature code is received by a remote server (for example, server 110) having access to an IP user directory (113, 413), hereinafter, for example, an active user registry (AUR) database, and forwards necessary information for invoking the feature in a determined manner to a Service Control Point (SCP) (106, 406). The SCP recognizes the feature code as a request to invoke the remote call forwarding feature on the user's wire-line telephone so that calls directed to that wire-line telephone are forwarded to, for example, the user's cellular phone.

Abstract: A cellular telephone maintains a screening list of calling party numbers, and specifies call handling therefor. A mobile switching center is responsive to selected types of the specified call handling. The call handling can depend on whether the call is local or non-local, which is affected by the location of the cellular telephone. The call handling can also depend on the time at which the call is made. A subscriber updates his or her screening list via personal computer, and transmits via a communication network the updated screening list to a message center which sends the updated screening list to the cellular telephone via wireless communication. A calling party number can be specified as a wildcard.

Abstract: A system for authorizing services in wireless devices based on a type of service requested and a location of the wireless device. For example, in a wireless telephony system, when a session is set up via an Internet Protocol-based system, an application server queries a location service for the location of the handset requesting the service. If the handset or the receiving handset is in a location that is not authorized for the requested service based on the position of the handset, the connection is not enabled. A message may be transmitted to the sending handset to inform a user that the service is not authorized for the location.
