Publication number: 20110044262Abstract: In various embodiments, a method, computer-readable storage medium, and apparatus for scheduling prioritized best effort (BE) service flows through a wireless network base station includes a controller coupled to a memory. If any one of a plurality of BE service flows are congested, a minimum reserved traffic rate (MRTR) algorithm is used by the controller to ensure that at least a highest priority BE service flow is maintained at least at an associated MRTR. If none of the plurality of BE service flows are congested, a maximum sustained traffic rate (MSTR) algorithm is used by the controller to enable the highest priority BE service flow to be set to at least at an associated MSTR before lower priority service flows are increased. If none of the plurality of BE service flows are congested and each service flow is at their associated MSTR, the controller is configured to distribute any excess bandwidth to each service flow in accordance with an initial set of priority BE traffic flow ratios.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2009Publication date: February 24, 2011Applicant: CLEAR WIRELESS, LLCInventors: Durga Prasad SATAPATHY, Sungki PARK

Publication number: 20110021198Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for selectively pre-registering a data path for a mobile station. In an embodiment, a serving base station receives a mobile-originated handoff-request message from a mobile station, wherein the mobile-originated handoff-request message identifies one or more target base stations. The serving base station then responsively determines whether to instruct each respective target base station to pre-register a data path for the mobile station. The serving base station then sends a respective serving-to-target handoff-request message to each identified target base station, indicating whether the serving base station is instructing that target base station to pre-register a data path for the mobile station.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2009Publication date: January 27, 2011Applicant: Clear Wireless LLCInventors: Jeremy R. Publication number: 20110022504Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for establishing a data-path between a mobile station and a home access service network gateway (“ASN-GW”). During the authentication process, a visited ASN-GW receives a first message that identifies a home ASN-GW associated with the mobile station. After the mobile station has been authenticated, the visited ASN-GW receives a first data-path request message from a base station serving the mobile station, requesting a path for data-packet communication for the mobile station that extends between base station and the visited ASN-GW. The visited ASN-GW responsively uses the received identification to send a second data-path request message to the home ASN-GW which requests a path for data-packet communication that extends between the base station and the home ASN-GW. Once the data-path has been established, the home ASN-GW may monitor and/or place restrictions on the data being transmitted to and from the mobile stations.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2009Publication date: January 27, 2011Applicant: CLEAR WIRELESS LLCInventors: Jeremy R. Publication number: 20100329181Abstract: A system, computer-readable medium, and method of operating a dual-mode WiMAX and CDMA communications device capable of operating in a CDMA mode or a WiMAX mode includes receiving a first base station (BS) location message from the BS and storing the received location as a current BS location. The BS location is compared to stored region coordinates for the different regions, and the comparison is used to determine a particular region in which the dual-mode device is currently located. Analysis determines whether a WiMAX market is located within the particular region. If no WiMAX markets are located, the dual-mode device is operated in the CDMA mode. If one or more WiMAX markets are located within the particular region, a determination is made as to whether the BS location is within a WiMAX market and, if so, the dual-mode device is placed in a WiMAX mode of operation. Battery power is conserved by avoiding WiMAX transmission when WiMAX service is not available at the current BS location.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2009Publication date: December 30, 2010Applicant: CLEAR WIRELESS, LLCInventor: Wei-Ming LAN
