Abstract: An antiperspirant active composition comprising an aluminum salt, the aluminum salt (i) having an aluminum to chloride molar ratio of 0.3:1 to 3:1; and (ii) exhibiting an 27Al NMR spectrum with a species distribution including at least 90% A130 polyhydroxyoxoaluminum cation as the predominant species detectable by 27Al NMR within the aluminum salt. The composition can optionally include zirconium. Also disclosed are a method of making an antiperspirant active composition and the use of a heating step at elevated temperature to convert Al13 polyhydroxyoxoaluminum cations in the species detectable by 27Al NMR within an aqueous aluminum salt solution into Al30 polyhydroxyoxoaluminum cations in the species detectable by 27Al NMR without increasing a SEC Peak 3 area in the SEC chromatogram of the aluminum salt.

Abstract: A dispensing pump including a pump mechanism and a pump bead is provided. The dispensing pump head includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion has a structure for attaching the dispensing pump to the container. The upper portion and the lower portion each has: (1) an internal area combining to form an enclosed space for containing a second product, and (2) a respective peripheral wall. The pump mechanism also includes a dispensing channel for the first product that extends between the upper and the lower portion. There is an aperture in either peripheral walls or a space between the respective peripheral walls. Upon the actuation of the dispensing pump, the upper portion passes into the lower portion to force air from the enclosed space and the second product is emitted through one of the apertures in either peripheral walls or the space therebetween.

Abstract: A fluid delivery system usable in an oral care implement and a reservoir containing a flowable substance. A capillary channel formed of one or more wicking or capillary members extends through at least a portion of the oral care implement to deliver flowable substance(s) through one or more outlets via capillary action. In one embodiment, the rate of fluid flow through the capillary channel is different in at least a first flow section than in a second flow section. In another embodiment, the rate of flow between flow sections of the wicking member is different than in at least one of the flow sections. A variety of flowable substances can be administered for therapeutic, hygienic, and/or other benefits, such as fresh breath, tooth whitening, tooth sensitivity, plaque and/or tartar control, or producing sensations of heat, cool, or tingling.

Abstract: An oral care implement with an oral care region having cleaning elements for engaging oral tissue and a body for gripping the implement including a handle with a front and a removable faceplate is described. The removable faceplate may be transparent or translucent and may also include design features. The faceplate may provide protection to a user inscription surface on one of the surfaces of the handle which is may be configured to receive user indicia that may later be removed and further indicia provided.
Abstract: The invention includes methods of cleaning an oral surface, maintaining oral health and/or increasing oral health. Such methods encompass contacting an oral surface with a primary oral care composition at least once daily, and contacting the oral surface with a periodic oral care composition at least once within a period of about 42 days. The periodic oral care compositions suitable for use in the method comprise a first abrasive having an Einlehner hardness of greater than about 5 mg loss per 100,000 revolutions and a second abrasive having an Einlehner hardness of less than about 5 mg loss per 100,000 revolutions. In the periodic oral care compositions, the ratio of the first abrasive to the second abrasive is about 1:1.6 to about 1.6:1. The periodic oral care compositions are characterized by a pellicle cleaning ratio of greater than about 100 and a radioactive dentin abrasion of less than about 200.

Abstract: Oral compositions comprising a first and a second abrasive are provided. The first abrasive preferably has an Einlehner hardness of greater than about 5 mg loss per 100,000 revolutions, and the second abrasive preferably has an Einlehner hardness of less than about 5 mg loss per 100,000 revolutions. A ratio of the first abrasive to the second abrasive ranges from about 1:1.6 to about 1.6:1, and the first and second abrasives are preferably present in the oral composition at an amount of about 13% to about 21% by weight, respectively. The pellicle cleaning ratio of the oral composition is greater than 100 and the radioactive dentin abrasiveness is preferably less than 200, and in certain embodiments, preferably less than about 175. Methods of using the oral compositions are also provided.
Abstract: An oral care system and method wherein a dispenser is mounted to the handle of an oral care implement. The dispenser holds an oral care material and is alterable between a storage state wherein a dispensing end of the dispenser nests within the handle and an application state wherein the dispensing end of the dispenser is un-nested and exposed for oral care use. In one aspect, the invention is an oral care system comprising: an oral care implement comprising a head, a handle having a longitudinal axis, and one or more oral surface engaging elements; a dispenser having a reservoir containing an oral care material and an applicator for dispensing the oral care material; the dispenser alterable between: (i) a storage state wherein the applicator is nested within the handle; and (ii) an application state wherein the applicator is un-nested from the handle and exposed for oral care use.

Abstract: A dental tray with a hydrophobic tooth whitening formulation where the tooth whitening formulation is substantially non-water soluble, and a method of using this dental tray to whiten the teeth. The tooth whitening formulation is primarily comprised of a hydrophobic polymer and a peroxide or a peroxide yielding compound. Preferably the hydrophobic polymer is the condensation product of a silicone resin and an organosiloxane. The dental tray is formed to encompass the front and the rear surfaces of the teeth. The dental tray is comprised of a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer. The teeth whitening formulation is placed into the dental tray and the tray placed against the teeth to be whitened. This is for a sufficient period of time to at least partially whiten teeth. This can be a period of time from about 0.5 hour to 2 hours or more.
