  • Patent number: 6828361
Abstract: A method for making a silicic acid containing rubber base composition includes providing composition ingredients of rubber, silicic acid, silane and additional additives except for vulcanization ingredients. First and second mixers separate from each other are provided wherein the ingredients except for the vulcanization ingredients can be mixed. All of the composition ingredients are introduced into the first mixer except for the vulcanization ingredients simultaneously or at time intervals. The composition ingredients introduced into the first mixer are mixed to a composition. The composition formed in the first mixer is transferred directly into the second mixer without an intermediate storage thereof. The transferred composition formed in the first mixer is mixed at least almost to completion in the second mixer with the temperature lying in the temperature range of 130° C. to 180° C.

  • Patent number: 6824145
Abstract: The invention relates to a level adjusting system for motor vehicles, with a compressed air reservoir (26) and a tire inflation connector (28), in which a spare wheel can be connected. The spare wheel can be inflated from the compressed air reservoir (26) with the aid of the controllable distribution valve (36), the pneumatically controllable distribution valve (18), which bridges the non-return valve (10), the air dryer (6) and the pneumatically controllable valve (20) which also connects the compressed air line (22). The spare wheel may also be inflated with the aid of the compressor (2) and the pneumatically controllable distribution valve (20). During the inflation process the compressed air line (22) is closed with the aid of the controllable distribution valve (24) so that no compressed air escapes into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 6822561
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting a drop in pressure of a motor vehicle tire by evaluating wheel speeds determined by sensors. The method for detecting the drop in pressure is based on the detection of a large drop in pressure or a complete drop in pressure using a reduction of the angular velocity or an increase (8) in the dynamic read radius rd of one or more wheels. The invention also relates to a device for controlling the braking power and/or driving dynamics and for measuring the pressure of vehicle tires wherein a microcomputer, which is connected to wheel rotational speed sensors and optionally to driving dynamic sensors, is used to perform the aforementioned method and a known method for regulating the braking power and/or driving dynamics.

  • Patent number: 6814115
Abstract: A spike for the running surface of a motor vehicle tire, especially a snow tire, with, as seen from above, an out-of-round, elongated, plate-like spike root (2, 2a), the greatest extension of which defines a longitudinal axis (7a), and an out-of-round, elongated upper part (4, 5) of the spike, the greatest extension of which defines a longitudinal axis (6a). In order to be enabled to accept even greater forces from below, the spike root (2, 2a) and the upper part (4, 5) of the spike are twisted in relation to each other, so that the longitudinal axis (6a) of the upper part (4, 5) of the spike encloses an angle (15, 15a) varying from zero with the longitudinal axis (7a) of the spike root (2,2a).

  • Patent number: 6802112
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for making a pressure-tight attachment of an elastomeric tubular piece to an attachment part. For making the pressure-tight attachment, an open end of a tubular piece made of elastomeric material is pushed onto a connecting part and a metal clamping ring is positioned thereon. While radially pressing the jaws of the clamping device together, the diameter of the clamping ring is reduced and the tubular piece is thereby tightly clamped to the connecting part. The clamping operation is ended before damage occurs but only when an adequate strength is ensured. During clamping, the force/displacement curve is observed and a characteristic feature of the measured curve is used as a basis of computation for a switchoff criterion. Preferably, the clamping operation is only ended when the clamping force begins to drop for the first time after the maximum force is exceeded in a defined manner in a predetermined localized or bounded curve segment.

  • Patent number: 6752402
Abstract: A level control system for a motor vehicle having a vehicle body includes a plurality of air springs which can be filled or discharged with pressurized air to control the level of the vehicle body. A first control apparatus controls the functions of filling and discharging the air springs in dependence upon the level of the vehicle body. A communications channel interconnects the first control apparatus to a second control apparatus. A switch triggers an additional function in the level control system and this switch is movable between a first switching state and a second switching state. The switch is connected to the second control apparatus and the second control apparatus functions to transmit a signal sequence via the communications channel to the first control apparatus when the switch is transferred from the first switching state into the second switching state. The first control apparatus operates to carry out the additional function when the first control apparatus receives the signal sequence.
