  • Patent number: 4566515
Abstract: A wheel and tire assembly for a vehicle, including a solid rubber tire, and a wheel body, one or both edges of which are provided with a circumferential groove for receiving a retaining ring for the solid tire. In order to be able to repeatedly mount the solid tire with a sufficiently reliable seating, there is inventively proposed to provided the solid tire with a base having a width such that when the retaining ring is omitted, the tire extends slightly into the region which would otherwise be occupied by the retaining ring. Accordingly, when the retaining ring is inserted, the base of the tire must be slightly elastically deformed, thus assuring a secure seating of the tire on a wheel rim therewith.

  • Patent number: 4566514
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire which has fine slits in the tread. These slits are inclined relative to the circumferential direction of the tire. In order to increase the frictional connection to the roadway, to make the wear of the tread more uniform, and in addition to be able to use mechanically stiff plates for the associated vulcanization molds, the fine slits are twisted about an at least approximately radially extending twist axis. The fine slits preferably extend continuously from their roots into the tread surface region proper.

  • Patent number: 4563042
Abstract: A covering ring for a vehicle wheel. The bead seating surfaces of a tire are mounted on the radially inner periphery of the rim. In order to prevent dirt and/or water from entering the space between the tire bead and the rim well, the covering ring has a width which covers the space between the tire bead, that portion of the rim which extends axially outwardly from the rim well, and the rim well. Also, provision is made that the radially inner surface of the covering ring, when viewed in the transverse direction, extends horizontally or is laterally inclined toward the outside. Also, provision is made that the radially inner diameter of the covering ring at no point of the space, which is to be covered, be greater than the radially inner diameter of the mounted tire in the bead region.

  • Patent number: 4550833
Abstract: A variable-volume receptacle, especially for use as a compensating receptacle in heating systems. The receptacle includes two membrane-like sheets of rubber or synthetic material; the sheets have the same surface areas, and are placed against one another. The edges of the sheets are bound together by a peripheral U-shaped strip which is attached to both sides. The novel edge connection is considerably more durable than the conventional overlap connection, and as a result of not being susceptible to the otherwise constant danger of tearing due to having been folded, the connection also has a much longer life than do the heretofore known overlap connections.

  • Patent number: 4542778
Abstract: A pneumatic tire, the tread of which is provided with zigzagged grooves. In order to keep rocks or similar solid foreign objects from getting stuck in the tread recesses, and in order to have these rocks drop out of the tread when the associated tire axis pivots, the side faces or the zigzagged grooves are stepped. Furthermore, the step faces, which extend approximately transverse to the circumferential direction of the tire, are disposed at an incline to a plane which extends through the main axis of the tire. Side faces which merge into one another via a given step face are parallel to one another, yet are staggered relative to one another by the width of this step face. The step faces are upwardly inclined at approximately 15.degree. to 25.degree..

  • Patent number: 4516617
Abstract: A method of mounting a tire on a rim. Contemplated are vehicle wheels having rims where the seats for the tire beads are disposed along the inner periphery of the rim respectively next to a radially inwardly extending rim flange. The rims also have circumferential recessed portions which are disposed next to the seats and which have a base with a diameter which is greater than the diameter of the seats. The following method steps are involved. The rim and the tire are moved toward one another, with their axes of rotation being disposed at an angle to one another. The rim is introduced into the tire, at least one bead portion of which has assumed an oval shape. The rim is rotated. A portion of one of the beads, the seat of which extends parallel to the rim seat, is intorduced into the recessed portion of the rim. Subsequently, the rest of that bead is inserted. After the same procedure is repeated for the other bead, the tire is inflated with air, so that the beads are brought onto the rim seats.

  • Patent number: 4509575
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire having a belt and a radial carcass. Located laterally outwardly in the bead region are end portions of the carcass ply or plies which are guided upwardly, i.e. radially outwardly. Bead reinforcers are also provided. In order to achieve a great dynamic resilience along with sufficient stiffness of the bead regions, it is proposed pursuant to the present invention that the filaments of the bead reinforcers, and the strength carriers of the end portions of the carcass, be disposed at opposite inclines relative to the radial direction. Furthermore, in the vicinity of their outer ends, these filaments and strength carriers form a smaller angle with the circumferential direction of the tire than do those portions thereof in the bead core region, so that these reinforcing inserts are thus disposed in such a way that they extend in a curved manner.

  • Patent number: 4504150
Abstract: An extruder which serves for kneading and extruding rubber and synthetic material mixtures. The extruder is equipped with a rotatably mounted screw, and pin bodies which project into the interior of the housing. These pin bodies can be damaged, and in particular can be bent or even broken. In order to quickly determine these failures, and possibly to even determine deformed pin bodies, the latter are incorporated into an electrical monitoring circuit. The pin bodies are provided with electrical inserts which influence the monitoring circuit when deformations or breakage of the pin bodies occur, in order in this way to transmit a signal or even electrically switch off the extruder. In place of the electrical inserts, photo conductors can be used, the optical conductivity of which can be utilized for determining the aforementioned damages.
