Patent number: 8573245Abstract: A fuel manifold for turbine engines, such as the large turbines used for generating electrical power, has a housing with straight internal porting for routing fuel and purge media streams to the combustion area of the turbine. A pressure balanced fuel valve regulates fuel using a poppet actuator. A piston section of the actuator dynamically seals off actuation pressure from the fuel. A valve section of the actuator dynamically seals off a vented area from the fuel and regulates fuel flow through the valve. The piston section has internal porting to a collector tube within the vented area for directing media leaked past the piston seal(s) to a vent port, and thereby prevent mixing of the fuel and actuation media.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2011Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Jansen's Aircraft Systems Controls, Inc.Inventor: Harvey B. Patent number: 8549809Abstract: A vibration isolating mounting clip which is used to mount a furring channel to a mounting surface, which is then further loaded with a finishing substrate via the furring channel consists of a resilient bent metal strip. The resilient bent metal strip has a first end and an opposing second end, and a transition portion shaped to fit the furring channel. Through different aspects of the invention either the first end, or the first and second end is mounted to the mounting surface. The resilient bent metal strip has a stiffness and shape such that when the furring channel is positioned in the resilient bent metal strip, and the resilient bent metal strip is mounted to the mounting surface, and a finishing substrate is loaded on the furring channel, the furring channel does not contact the mounting surface. Between the ends of the resilient bent metal strip, and the furring channel, are one to several bends, towards and away from the mounting surface to achieve the desired resiliency.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2009Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Kinetics Noise Control, Inc.Inventors: Matthew V. Publication number: 20130255969Abstract: A weight controlled slip interlock system provides increased safety for a snubbing unit. Slips for a snubbing unit is operable between an open position and a closed position, and valves actuates the slips between the open and closed positions. Weight sensors are coupled to the slips, wherein the weight sensors measures the loads on the slips to determine whether one or more of the slips are controlling the weight of a workstring. Interlocks are coupled to the valves to prevent the valves from actuating from the closed position into the open position when the corresponding slip controls the weight of the workstring.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2012Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Cudd Pressure Control, Inc.Inventors: Bernt Olsen, Randall D. Patent number: 8548584Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to techniques for using an external defibrillator to detect a presence of an implantable medical device (IMD) implanted within a patient, and providing therapy to the patient through communication between the external defibrillator and the IMD. An external defibrillator provides prompts to a user of the external defibrillator to determine the presence of an IMD implanted within the patient. For example, the external defibrillator may prompt the user to visually inspect the patient's chest for signs that an IMD was implanted, such as a scar or raised portion of skin near the patient's clavicles. As another example, the external defibrillator may prompt the user to place a detection device on the patient's chest. The detection device may be coupled to the external defibrillator, and may employ a magnet to initiate telemetry by the IMD to detect the presence of the IMD.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2008Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Physio-Control, Inc.Inventor: David J. Patent number: 8532766Abstract: The presence of a cardiac pulse in a patient is determined by evaluating physiological signals in the patient. In one embodiment, a medical device evaluates two or more different physiological signals, such as phonocardiogram (PCG) signals, electrocardiogram (ECG) signals, patient impedance signals, piezoelectric signals, and accelerometer signals for features indicative of the presence of a cardiac pulse. Using these features, the medical device determines whether a cardiac pulse is present in the patient.
