Abstract: Among others, techniques, systems and apparatus are described for estimating a channel in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system. A method of estimating a channel in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system includes sequentially receiving symbols. Each symbol includes pilots and data. The pilots included in each of first n symbols of the sequentially received symbols are placed in first areas of a memory component used for channel estimation. Data in second areas disposed between the first areas of the memory component are estimated. The pilots of at least one symbol after the nth symbol of the sequentially received symbols are placed in the first areas and the estimated data is updated in the second areas.

Abstract: Techniques, systems and apparatus are described for estimating a frequency shift. An apparatus for estimating a frequency shift includes a fast Fourier transform unit to transform a signal of a time domain into a frequency domain and output fast Fourier transform symbols. A complex conjugate multiplier is in communication with the fast Fourier transform unit and output a continual pilot correlation between every two of the fast Fourier transform symbols output from the fast Fourier transform unit. A correlation memory unit is in communication with the complex conjugate multiplier to store the continual pilot correlation output from the complex conjugate multiplier. An adder is in communication with the correlation memory unit to add the continual pilot correlations stored in the correlation memory unit and generate an output signal comprising estimated values of the frequency shift.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for joining a number of sections (7) of a thermoplastic continuous web material in order to form an expandable section block (2). Said block is built up by repeatedly carrying out sequences of steps of the method. The invention also relates to a device for forming said blocks at high speeds.
Abstract: A backlight module is used to supply a light beam to a liquid crystal panel. The backlight module includes an optical film set. The optical film set includes a diffusion film for diffusing the light beam; a prism sheet for receiving the light beam from the diffusion film and propagating the light beam to the liquid crystal panel. The prism sheet is close to the liquid crystal panel, and has a plurality of projections, whose cross section is in cone-shape, disposed on a surface thereof adjacent to the liquid crystal panel. Some of the projections have a plurality of defects.
Abstract: A method for protecting software is provided, where source code for the software has a first directive marking an encryption beginning point and a second directive marking an encryption end point. The method contains the steps of: processing the source code to identify a block of code between the first and second directives; compiling the source code to produce a binary file; generating a valid key and a random string; encrypting the random string with the key to obtain a first encrypted value; encrypting a portion of the binary file corresponding to the block of code with the valid key to obtain a second encrypted value; and replacing the portion of the binary file corresponding to the block of code with the second encrypted value and code that can decrypt the second encrypted value during execution of the software.

Abstract: A unified messaging interface and associated methods that enables mobile communication device users to initiate the creation of a message for a recipient without being required to explicitly specify the type of message that is to be created. The mobile communication device supports multiple message types, such as voice, text, and picture messages. The user begins providing message content to the communication device by, for example, speaking, entering text, or clicking a shutter of a camera. The unified messaging interface detects the nature of the content and creates a corresponding type of message. The user can indicate a desire to create and send a message by performing “one-click” action. The one-click action is an operation performed on the device that can be instantiated as a single button-press on the keypad; selection of a single soft key by depressing a button on the keypad or touching the screen of the device; or issuance of a single voice command.
Abstract: A system for determining a parameter of interest of at least one particle in a sample of a fluid obtained from a formation, comprises a view cell containing at least a portion of the sample and at least one window for viewing the sample. A light source illuminates the sample. An imaging system captures at least one image of the illuminated sample. A program executing a set of instructions on a computer analyzes the at least one image and generates an output related to at least one parameter of interest of the at least one particle in said sample.
Abstract: Tickers are populated with location-based information that is selected according to the geographic location of communication devices. The location of a communication device is identified based on a GPS system, proximity to transmitters in a wireless network, user input, or using other techniques. Location-appropriate content is obtained either in real-time from the network or from a local data store at the communication device. In general location-based, context-aware content can be displayed on tickers associated with a variety of communication devices, including mobile communication devices and “immobile” or stationary personal computers.
Abstract: A processor for performing floating-point operations includes an array of processing elements arranged to enable a floating-point operation. Each processing element includes an arithmetic logic unit to receive two input values and perform integer arithmetic on the received input values. The processing elements in the array are connected together in groups of two or more processing elements to enable floating-point operation.
