In one embodiment, the invention includes a stack of printed wiring board assemblies that are connected via interconnection components. At least one of the printed wiring board assemblies includes an interposer substrate having a constraining layer that includes carbon.

Abstract: In connection with thermal recovery projects, a system determines temperature gradients for a heat affected zone associated with a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir. An exemplary system includes a plurality of temperature sensors distributed in the wellbore at least partially along the heat affected zone. A downhole processor positioned proximate and substantially outside of the heat affected zone receives and digitizes the temperature measurements. A data link such as a data cable coupled to the downhole processor conveys the temperature measurements to a surface interface.

Abstract: A sender can create and send an instant voice message that can be delivered to recipients with SMS-enabled wireless stations regardless of the other communication capabilities of the wireless stations and the network or network service providers of the recipients. The sender creates an instant voice message and sends the message to a message server, which stores the message in an interactive voice response (IVR) system. If the instant voice message is a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) message and the intended recipient's device does not support the MMS protocol, the voice content is extracted from the message and stored in the IVR system. An SMS notification is sent to the recipient and includes instructions for accessing the instant voice message from the IVR system. The SMS notification enables the recipient to access the instant voice message. The recipient can also create and reply to the voice message.

Abstract: The floor in a speakerphone communication session is managed such that a mobile device user can cause voice data to be transmitted to a remote party without the remote party giving consent to relinquishing the floor. As the remote party holds the floor, the speakerphone user presses a talk button on the speakerphone, which generates a floor request signal, resulting in the floor being transferred to the speakerphone. The speakerphone user, who now has the floor, can cause the voice data to be sent to the remote device. In this manner, the speakerphone device user can interrupt or spontaneously respond to the remote party without waiting for the remote party to relinquish the floor. This facilitates comfortable two-way communication in a speakerphone communication session.

Abstract: Tickers are populated with location-based information with interactive presentation attributes. The location-based information is selected according to the geographic location of communication devices. The location of a communication device is identified based on a GPS system, proximity to transmitters in a wireless network, user input, or using other techniques. Location-appropriate content is obtained either in real-time from the network or from a local data store at the communication device. In general location-based, context-aware content can be displayed on tickers associated with a variety of communication devices, including mobile communication devices and “immobile” or stationary personal computers.

Abstract: Advertisements and the timing of the display thereof on tickers of mobile devices are selected based on activity of the mobile devices and bids made by advertisers. Advertisers define conditions of the mobile devices that are to trigger the display of particular advertisements. The advertisers can also bid for priority placement of advertisements and can set spending limits to manage budgets. During use of a mobile device in a mobile communications network, parameter data defining conditions associated with the mobile device and the operation thereof is generated. The mobile device also generates event data defining events or activity of the mobile device or the associated mobile user. The parameter data and the event data are used by an advertising system of the mobile communications network to select an advertisement and the timing of the display of the advertisement, respectively. Any priority given to particular advertisements based on bids made by advertisers is also used to select the advertisement.

Abstract: An equipment and method for charging a secondary battery are provided to quickly and surely charge a secondary battery (secondary batteries) while preventing the secondary battery (batteries) from overcharging or insufficient charging. Special charging voltage Es is applied to a secondary battery for a predetermined time, and then the applied voltage is switched to equilibrium voltage Eeq for establishing equilibrium cell potential of the secondary battery in its fully charged condition, wherein the special charging value Es is larger than the equilibrium value Eeq. Electric current i is detected while application of the equilibrium voltage Eeq. If the detected electric current i is larger than standard electric current J for finishing charging, the above detection and charging are repeated; otherwise, charge of the secondary battery 1 is halted.

Abstract: A unified messaging interface and associated methods that enables mobile communication device users to initiate the creation of a message for a recipient without being required to explicitly specify the type of message that is to be created. The mobile communication device supports multiple message types, such as voice, text, and picture messages. The user begins providing message content to the communication device by, for example, speaking, entering text, or clicking a shutter of a camera. The unified messaging interface detects the nature of the content and creates a corresponding type of message. The user can indicate a desire to create and send a message by performing “one-click” action. The one-click action is an operation performed on the device that can be instantiated as a single button-press on the keypad; selection of a single soft key by depressing a button on the keypad or touching the screen of the device; or issuance of a single voice command.

A program executing a set of instructions on a computer analyzes the at least one image and generates an output related to at least one parameter of interest of the at least one particle in said sample.

Abstract: A method for determining the extent of recovery of materials injected or otherwise introduced into oil wells or subsurface formations is practiced using a portable device. The portable device can also be used to determiner the occurrence of a predetermined condition in an oil well such as water break through in a production zone, or the opening or closing of a sliding sleeve. When, for example, water breakthrough is detected, the zone producing too much water can be plugged, using, for example, a flow-through bridge plug, if there are other producing zones further downhole. The portable device may be use to make quantitative measurements or it may be used to do pre-screening of samples thereby avoiding further testing of negative samples.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for varying an operating parameter for a nuclear gamma ray tool for evaluating the integrity of gravel packing. The gamma ray outpat intensity and area of investigation are altered by changing a source housing geometry and the material from which the source housing is made. An actuator is provided to slide a variable electron density sleeve over the source and to vary the area of investigation by changing the distance between the source and a detector.

A ladder in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention comprises a plurality of rung units, each rung unit including a left column, a right column, and a rung extending between the left column and the right column. The ladder may include a first column assembly including a first column and a ring coupled to the first column proximate a distal end thereof, and a second column assembly including a second column and a sleeve coupled to the second column proximate a proximal end thereof. The second column being at least partially disposed within a lumen defined by an internal surface of the first column. Abstract: Disclosed is a method of determining the extent of recovery of materials injected into oil wells or subsurface formations. The method includes injection of one or more tracers into an oil well or into a formation. Included in the method are the steps of introducing a material of interest into the oil well or into the subsurface formation associated with the bore of the oil well; introducing a tracer into the oil well or into the subsurface formation associated with the bore of the oil well; recovering from the oil well a production fluid, analyzing the production fluid for a concentration of the chemical tracer present in the production fluid; and calculating the amount of material of interest recovered from the oil well using the concentration of the chemical tracer present in the production fluid as a basis for the calculation.

Abstract: A cervical immobilization collar incorporates one or more cooling elements for inducing a mild cerebral hypothermia by transcutaneous cooling of oxygenated blood flowing through carotid arteries. The immobilization collar includes an annular support structure having an extended axial length for limiting cervical compaction of a wearer's neck and a chin rest for limiting cervical rotation of the wearer's neck. In addition, the one or more cooling elements, which function as a heat extractor, are carried by the support structure in positions for inducing transcutaneous conduction of heat through an anterior portion of the wearer's neck from at least one of the wearer's carotid arteries.
