Abstract: A stylus device for use with a display of a computing device, the stylus device including: a compressible member with a first end of the compressible member being for mounting to a central stem of the stylus device; and a guide structure configured to be mounted to a body of the stylus device, the guide structure having an engaging portion configured to frictionally engage the compressible member as a second end of the compressible member protrudes from the guide structure.
Abstract: There is provided a first and second method for processing a composite video image. The methods generally include obtaining a first image of a scene through a first image capturing device with the composite image including a visual representation for directing a receiver's attention to at least one portion of the first image. Preferably, the visual representation may be an arm, a hand, a finger, or an object used for pointing.
Abstract: There is provided a method for accessing at least one audio file from a collection comprising more than one audio file stored within or accessible with an electronic device. The method includes generating one index comprising of information entries obtained from each of the more than one audio file in the collection, with each audio file in the collection information being linked to at least one information entry; receiving an input during an input reception mode; converting the input into a digital signal using an analog-digital converter; analyzing the digital signal using either frequency spectrum analysis or melody contour analysis into discrete portions; and comparing the discrete portions with the entries in the index. It is advantageous that the audio file is accessed when the discrete portions substantially coincide with at least one of the information entries in the index. The discrete portions may be musical notes, melody contours or waveforms.
Abstract: A system, a processor apparatus and a method for modification of control signals. The apparatus can include a processor and a control portion. The processor can be coupled to the control portion. The processor can be configured to receive and process input signals in a manner so as to produce output signals. The processor can be associated with response characteristics. The control portion can be configured to produce control signals. The control signals can be communicated to the processor. The control portion can be configured to receive data signals. The control signals can be modified based on the data signals. Response characteristics associated with the processor can be varied based on the modifiable control signals and the processor can be further configured to process received input signals based on the variable response characteristics so as to produce the output signals.
Abstract: There is provided a method for showcasing a built-up structure with at least one room. It is advantageous that the user is able to view the interior of the built-up structure by accessing and navigating about a single panoramic image for each room. An apparatus enabling the method and a method of using a work product of the method for showcasing a built-up structure with at least one room is also provided.
Abstract: A system and method of processing a video Instant Message (IM) is provided. The method may comprise receiving a captured video stream from an image capture device and selecting at least one video effect from a plurality of video effects. A modified video stream is then generated (e.g., using a digital filter) that includes the video effect and is then communicated to a viewing location as the video Instant Message. The IM application can be a legacy IM application and generate a graphic user interface via the IM application to allow a user to select the video effect. The captured video stream may be received from a web camera and the modified video stream may be communicated via the Internet to the viewing location. The method may be performed in a device driver that interfaces the image capture device to an Instant Messaging application associated with the device driver.

Abstract: There are provided methods and systems for processing a composite video image. The composite video image may be a combination of an image and at least one encoded screen capture at a communications apparatus either by a user or in accordance to pre-determined settings for the user's consumption and transmission to a network. Transmission to a network may be simultaneous during the user's consumption. It is advantageous that encoding of the at least one screen capture is independent of at least one application running on the at least one secondary device. It is possible that the at least one screen capture may or may not have audio signals.
Abstract: Embodiments of a virtual surround-sound system and methods for simulating surround-sound are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, a processing module may include spatial processor spatially processes surround-left and surround-right channel signals and front-left and front-right channel signals and combines the spatially-processed signals for providing to drivers of center speaker after crosstalk cancellation and combining with a center-channel signal. In some embodiments, the processing module may include circuitry to cause the spatial processor to refrain from spatially processing either the front-left and front-right channel signals when front-left and/or front-right speakers are connected.
Abstract: A system, a sound processing method and a sound processing apparatus suitable for enhancing gamer experience for electronic games. The sound processing apparatus can communicate with a terminal suitable for playing an electronic game. The electronic game can be associated with audio data which can be communicated from the terminal to the sound processing apparatus. The sound processing apparatus includes a receive module for receiving the audio data and a processing module coupled to the receive module. The audio data can include low frequency range audio signals, mid frequency range audio signals and high frequency range audio signals. The audio data can be communicated from the receive module to the processing module. The processing module can be configured to process the audio data in a manner such that at least one of the low frequency range audio signals and the high frequency range audio signals are accentuated relative to the mid frequency range audio signals.
