Abstract: A method, system and electronic device for efficient graphic processing and display of display data. The electronic device can be configured for processing source data corresponding to at least one digital image. The electronic device includes a processing portion which can be configured for receiving and processing source data in a manner so as to produce output signals associated with a portion of the at least one digital image. The portion of the at least one digital image can be associated with a region of interest. The output signals can be based upon for at least one of producing display data displayable as graphic image and salient based learning.

Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a video conferencing system that may employ a video camera capable of capturing a view approximating 360 degrees, a viewing screen positioned to allow natural eye contact between conference participants, and a processing module capable of receiving and processing multiple data streams from video and audio capturing devices as well as data streams from other sources. In some embodiments, the video camera may be mounted above or below the viewing screen to capture an approximately 360 degree view of all locally appearing participants as well as the surrounding conference environment. The video conferencing system allows multiple participants participating from a single location to communicate easily and maintain natural eye contact with one another while maintaining eye contact with persons appearing from remote locations.

Abstract: There is provided a sound reproduction apparatus including a sub-woofer unit and a plurality of wireless speakers. A method of speaker charging and speaker calibration using the sound reproduction apparatus is also provided. The sub-woofer unit may be configured to perform tasks of both charging a power source in each of the plurality of wireless speakers; and calibrating speaker identity for each of the plurality of wireless speakers. It is advantageous that both of the tasks are performed when the plurality of wireless speakers is coupled to the sub-woofer unit. The speaker identity may include, for example, left front, right front, left rear, right rear, and center.

Abstract: There is provided a host implemented method for redefining at least one user interface element on a secondary device. The method may include connecting the secondary device to the host for communication between the host and the secondary device; redefining the at least one user interface element using an application running on the host; reviewing the at least one user interface element as redefined using the application (possibly including a visual preview of the at least one user interface element as redefined when viewed on the secondary device); determining whether the secondary device is able to support the at least one user interface element as redefined using the application; and incorporating the at least one user interface element redefined using the application onto the secondary device.

Abstract: The present invention describes techniques that can be used to provide novel methods of spatial audio rendering using adapted M-S matrix shuffler topologies. Such techniques include headphone and loudspeaker-based binaural signal simulation and rendering, stereo expansion, multichannel upmix and pseudo multichannel surround rendering.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing a coded graphic representation. The method includes providing a graphic array and processing at least a portion of the graphic array. A graphic array can be provided such that an array of graphic indications which includes a plurality of graphic indication pairs can be provided. Each of the plurality of graphic indication pair can have at least a first graphic element and a second graphic element. The first and second graphic element can be spaced apart such that each of the plurality of graphic indication pairs can be associated with an element pitch. The element pitches of the plurality of graphic indication pairs can be substantially similar. At least a portion of the graphic array can be processed by displacing at least one graphic indication pair in the plurality of graphic indication pairs such that at least one element pitch is deviated.

Abstract: A method for association based identification. The method includes providing at least one identifier and communicating identification information based on the at least one identifier. The method further includes receiving and processing identification information. Each of the at least one identifier can be associated with a color code. Identification information can be processed in a manner so as to produce association data. The association data can be associated with at least a characteristic data from a set of library data. The set of library data can correspond to a library of color codes and a characteristic data from the set of library data can correspond to a color code from the library of color codes. The association data is based upon to produce output signals. The output signals can be based on characteristic data associable with the association data.

Abstract: There is provided a method for communications involving at least one text message. The method includes a sender apparatus transmitting at least one message, the at least one message including message data and at least one video filmlet; transmitting the message data over a first network and the at least one video filmlet to a server on a second network; and a recipient apparatus receiving the at least one message, the at least one message being combined and generated from the message data received from the first network and the at least one video filmlet received from the server. Advantageously, the at least one message may be generated in a manner as composed by a sender of the at least one message. It is preferable that the sender and recipient apparatus are able to support a data sync protocol on the second network.

Abstract: A device and method for scanning an object on a working surface, the device comprising: a body located adjacent to the working surface; two or more cameras mounted on the body at a location elevated adjacently above the working surface for capturing images of the object on the working surface, the two or more cameras being angled such that their range of image captures overlap and the common overlapping region of the range of image captures of the two or more cameras corresponds with the size of the working surface, the two or more cameras being spaced apart such that each of the two or more cameras captures a different angle of the common overlapping region; and a processing unit capable of correcting skewed images of the working surface captured by the two or more cameras and capable of converting the images captured by the two or more cameras into a three dimensional image.

Abstract: An assembly, a support and a method for carrying a peripheral device. The assembly is configurable for carrying a peripheral device in one of a stand configuration and a grip configuration. When in the stand configuration, the assembly is capable of supporting the peripheral device in a manner so as to elevate the peripheral device from a substantially horizontal surface. When in the grip configuration, the assembly is capable of supporting the peripheral device in a manner so as flexibly attach the peripheral device to an elevated surface. The assembly includes a support configurable for carrying the peripheral device. The support includes a base portion and a body portion.

Abstract: A processing method and a processing apparatus for processing an output audio signal from an audio capture device. The output audio signal can be processed by a first processing module in a manner such that a preliminary signal and a first stage processed signal can be derived. The processing method includes providing power estimation signals, providing at least one cross power estimation signal, providing a leakage approximation and providing a control signal estimation.

Abstract: There is provided a control apparatus and method for controlling a sound reproduction apparatus. The control apparatus and method enables control of at least one parameter of audio reproduction depending on contact with a touch sensitive panel. The parameters which may be controlled include, for example, volume, bass, treble, equalizer settings and the like. The functions of the sound reproduction apparatus which may be controlled include, for example, radio channel selection, track selection, album selection and the like.

Abstract: An image display system with one or more client computers in selective communication with a visual server having image processing capabilities. The client computer generates image modifying data corresponding to a generated image, and transmits the data to the visual server. The visual server receives the image-modifying data, generates a modified image based upon the image-modifying data, and transmits the modified image as compressed data to the client. The client decompresses the modified image data and displays the modified image. In the system, the visual server and client can provide a sequential display of modified frames on client to support animation with complex 3-dimensional graphics.

Abstract: A noise reduction circuit 200 for a headphone 100 is disclosed herein. In a described embodiment, the headphone 100 includes a speaker driver 110 and the circuit 200 comprises a microphone 112 configured to convert ambient sound into a corresponding electrical ambient signal and which is disposed adjacent to the speaker driver's diaphragm. The circuit 200 further includes an active noise reduction path configured to provide active noise reduction of the ambient sound based on the corresponding electrical ambient signal and a vocal signal compensation path configured to restore attenuated signals within the vocal range of the corresponding electrical ambient signal to increase audibility of vocal signals of the ambient sound. The circuit 200 also includes a switching device 204,210 arranged to selectively deliver the corresponding electrical ambient signal to the active noise reduction path or to the vocal signal compensation path.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for enabling karaoke. The apparatus includes a casing for the apparatus; a microphone array incorporated within the casing, the microphone array being concealed from a user by the casing; a controller coupled to the microphone array to at least process audio signals from the user input at the microphone array; a data storage device coupled to the controller, the data storage device being for storing pre-recorded songs used for karaoke, and for storing songs as sung by the user; and an image capturing device coupled to the controller, the image capturing device being for capturing images of the user while the user is singing, with the captured images of the user being stored on the data storage device.
