Abstract: A cable provider could offer a promotional feature, such as live pause of video, above and beyond a tier of service to which the customer subscribes, limiting the feature to being activated only upon occurrence of one or more events. In a network video delivery context, a set-top box plays live video, including an ability to pause live video upon the occurrence of an event. The system can detect an event, including an event unrelated to video, and prompt a user to pause. The system can include configuration settings enabling, for example, detection of various events, prompting the user to pause live video, and/or automatically pausing the live video. The system enables the user to play a time-shifted video corresponding to resuming the paused video playback. The system can include a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) local to the user, to facilitate the time-shifted video.

Abstract: In an anonymous matching system, a demand-side service platform (DSP) may select segments to populate a target audience. A data warehouse platform and a multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) platform ingest address lists, eliminate personally identifiable information (PII) from the address lists, and process the de-identified addresses to generate deterministic unique anonymous household identifiers (UHIDs). Households may be selected, for example, at the DSP's direction, to form a query request without exposing the PII. In response to the query request, the MVPD platform determines a matching UHID and includes a matching household attribute, such as an IP address or the like, in a query response without exposing the PII.

Abstract: Customers at a premises attempting to connect a new wireless device, such as a mobile phone or tablet to an available wireless network (Wi-Fi), receive network login information such as an Wi-Fi SSID (service set identification) and Password through a system generated equivalent QR code that can then be scanned to automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network. The system receives a request for Wi-Fi settings at a premises, identifies customer equipment associated with the premises, identifies an Wi-Fi SSID (Service Set Identification) and password associated with the customer equipment, generates a QR (Quick Response) code representing the Wi-Fi SSID and password, sends the QR code to one or more devices associated with the premises for display and subsequent scanning at the premises.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes an autonomous mechanism for implementing a flexible image repository that includes an image retrieval service and an image repository management application. The flexible image repository performs delta processing to provide a subset of stored images to a subscriber device when the image retrieval service receives an image update request. The subscriber device thus receives updates to the image repository in a manner that reduces bandwidth requirements at both the server and the client, allowing client-side images to be updated more frequently. A content manager may update the flexible image repository via the image repository management application, which tags images according to a naming convention prior to inserting the images in the image repository.

Abstract: A luminaire includes a housing defining an interior volume. The luminaire also includes a lamp within the interior volume and configured to emit light. Additionally, the luminaire includes a wireless antenna positioned within the interior volume, configured to transmit or receive a wireless signal along a first direction, and configured to be operatively coupled to an access point. The wireless antenna can be entirely within the interior volume. The luminaire can include a first reflective surface within the interior volume and configured to redirect the wireless signal. The lamp can be configured to be electrically coupled to a power inserter that powers the access point.

Abstract: Embodiments include originating and terminating a short message service (SMS) message using an IP network. Delivery of an SMS message is attempted on a first network a first predetermined number of times according to a first predetermined time schedule. Delivery of the SMS message on a second network is attempted after a failure to deliver the SMS message on the first network. Reattempted delivery of the SMS message on the first network is followed by reattempted delivery of the SMS message on the second network, according to a second predetermined time schedule. Embodiments also include monitoring registration of a recipient of the SMS message, receiving a new registration, and attempting delivery of the SMS message on the network associated with the new registration.

Abstract: Embodiments enable seamless Wi-Fi roaming by providing a user with a single username that is associated with a set of resources in the seamless network that includes different Wi-Fi networks (e.g., Wi-Fi networks with different domain names). As a user travels from a first access point in a first Wi-Fi network to a second access point in a second Wi-Fi network within the seamless network, network elements in the seamless network may recognize the user's single username as an already established session (e.g., with the first access point) and direct traffic accordingly to the second access point. Embodiments also satisfy business requirements by updating accounting data accordingly by indicating that the user accessed the seamless network from the first Wi-Fi network. Embodiments allow a user roaming on the seamless network to experience the policies and network requirements associated with the Wi-Fi domain of the second access point.

Abstract: In a video delivery context, collection and analysis of viewing data can provide insight into viewer interaction with video and the Internet. The viewing data can be transmitted in a controlled manner to a data repository. The system can selectively target specific viewers/households to obtain viewing data, which can be combined with demographics, anonymized, and encrypted. Embodiments enable precision selection of media opportunities, by determining detailed characteristics associated with broadcasts including movement of audiences and specific viewer behavior, such as visits to websites on the Internet. The effective yield of broadcasts, including promotional spots and advertisements, can be determined and predicted based on concrete data at a level of detail down to individual viewers. Accordingly, embodiments enable improvement of the effectiveness and return on investment for programming, promotional spots, and advertisements.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided to collect and update data on client devices connected to WiFi access points is provided. An inventory of WiFi cable modems and WiFi access points coupled to the WiFi cabled modems within a specific network is periodically collected. Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of WiFi cable modems and WiFi access points coupled to the WiFi cabled modems are periodically updated. Traps are periodically received from the WiFi access points. The traps are parsed to collect an inventory of client devices wirelessly connected to the WiFi access points and a time at which a client device connected to the WiFi access point. The WiFi access points are periodically polled to collect data on client devices, the data including a period of time that a client device has been connected to a WiFi access point and a physical location of the client device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses can detect whether an impairment is present within a service provider network. The impairment can cause a service provided by the service provider network to not perform as expected. These systems, methods, and apparatuses can develop multiple network records to record the performance of the service provider network at various instances in time. These systems, methods, and apparatuses can compare these network records among each other to detect for the presence of the impairment within the service provider network. These systems, methods, and apparatuses can thereafter diagnose and/or remedy the impairment when present within the service provider network.

Abstract: A service provider network can enable subscriber of a service with capabilities of performing one or more trick playback modes, such as pause, play, stop, fast-forward, and/or rewind to provide some examples, on media content provided by a service provider network that is being presently viewed by one or more subscribers while abiding by current copyright laws. The service provider network can broadcast the media content to a subscriber device that is associated with the subscriber and can simultaneously store an exclusive copy of the media content being displayed by the subscriber device. And, the systems, methods, and apparatuses can time-shift the exclusive copy of the media content in accordance with the one or more trick playback modes and can unicast the time-shifted copy of the media content to the subscriber device to perform the one or more trick playback modes.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments for dynamic mitigation of CGN IPv4 address provisioning for network gateways when adverse conditions are in effect. A network gateway may be provisioned with a shared WAN IP address from a pool of IP addresses designated for Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGN) and configured to detect the occurrence of an adverse condition for a connection provisioned the shared WAN IP address. Upon detecting an adverse condition, the network gateway may send a request for a new IP address to a DHCP server configured to recognize flags indicating an adverse condition. The DHCP server may then provision the gateway with a new public IP address.

Abstract: A system and method for polling a plurality of client devices of different types are provided. A reboot and polling tool pre-polls client devices, where the pre-poll is specific to a type of client device and identifies a state of the client devices. The reboot and polling tool then executes a script on the client devices that changes the state of the plurality of client devices. After the script is executed, the reboot and polling tool post-polls the client devices where the post-poll is specific to the type of client device and the post-poll provides information that identifies changes in the state of the client devices caused by the script.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for interrogating and remediating a device. For example, a method includes: transmitting instructions from a headend device to a plurality of remote devices, the instructions being for diagnosing a status of each of the plurality of devices; based on responses from the plurality of remote devices, identifying a set of remote devices from among the plurality of remote devices requiring remediation; categorizing each remote device of the set of remote devices into one of a plurality of categories based on a connectivity status between each remote device and the headend device; and assigning, for each of the plurality of categories, a respective number of connections for remediating the set of remote devices.

For example, the method may include searching a plurality of channels to locate a message on an active channel for the device, the message being transmitted on each of the plurality of channels; in response to locating the message, analyzing the message to determine a second channel from among the plurality of channels for downloading the operating data for the device, the second channel being different than the first channel; in response to determining the second channel, tuning the device to the second channel; downloading, via the second channel, the operating data for the device; and installing the operating data on the device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for real-time enablement of over-the-top media service applications. An embodiment operates by receiving a device identifier from a customer device including a disabled third-party over-the-top (OTT) application, determining a verification status of the customer device based on the device identifier, determining a customer identifier associated with the customer device, and determining an entitlement status based on the customer identifier. The embodiment further operates by assigning a vendor-issued identifier to the customer identifier, generating a third-party token based on the verification status and the entitlement status, and sending the third-party token to the customer device and a third-party service associated with the disabled third-party OTT application.

Abstract: A method and system to create a mapping of non-attached subnetworks to a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) associated with the non-attached subnetwork is provided herein. The method includes transmitting a query to the CMTS for an identification of the non-attached subnetwork and receiving the identification from the CMTS. The method further includes parsing the identification to determine an address of the non-attached subnetwork and mapping an association of the CMTS to the non-attached subnet in a database based on the address.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and systems utilizing a multiple-frequency antenna array system. The multiple-frequency antenna array system includes a first set of broadband elements that allows the establishment of a first cellular data communication session and a concurrent second cellular data communication session. The system also includes a second set of broadband elements that allow the establishment of a first local area wireless network communication session and a concurrent second local area wireless network communication session. Further, there is a broadband element configured to receive a global positioning signal. In addition, the multiple-frequency antenna array system is coupled to a vehicle. A method for establishing multi-frequency communication sessions using an antenna array is also presented.

Abstract: Systems and methods to remotely store and provide telecast programs are provided. The method includes storing an exclusive first transcoded copy of a program in a first configuration for a first user along with multiple shared transcoded copies in respective multiple configurations. The method includes receiving a request from the first user to view the program, streaming the first transcoded copy, determining based on one or more criteria whether the first transcoded copy is supported, and continuing to stream the first transcoded copy or switching to a second transcoded copy from the multiple transcoded copies based on the criteria.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a monitoring device for determining one or more characteristics of one or more scheduled programs within one or more packetized elementary streams of one or more transport streams. The monitoring device receives the one or more transport streams from a service provider system and de-encapsulates the one or more packetized elementary streams from the one or more transport streams. The monitoring device determines the one or more characteristics of the one or more scheduled programs from the one or more packetized elementary streams. The one or more characteristics can be used by the monitoring device to adapt on a dynamic, real-time, or near real-time, basis to changes to the one or more transport streams.
