  • Patent number: 11659254
Abstract: A service provider network can enable subscriber of a service with capabilities of performing one or more trick playback modes, such as pause, play, stop, fast-forward, and/or rewind to provide some examples, on media content provided by a service provider network that is being presently viewed by one or more subscribers while abiding by current copyright laws. The service provider network can broadcast the media content to a subscriber device that is associated with the subscriber and can simultaneously store an exclusive copy of the media content being displayed by the subscriber device. And, the systems, methods, and apparatuses can time-shift the exclusive copy of the media content in accordance with the one or more trick playback modes and can unicast the time-shifted copy of the media content to the subscriber device to perform the one or more trick playback modes.

  • Patent number: 11622295
Abstract: A wireless access point (WAP) determines whether to switch from one or more first communication channels to one or more second communication channels when the one or more first communication channels are experiencing congestion. The WAP determines an amount of congestion the one or more first communication channels are experiencing. When the one or more first communication channels are experiencing congestion, the WAP determines whether one or more communication devices can support, or reliably support, a channel switching announcement signal using the one or more first communication channels. If a sufficient number of communication devices from among the one or more communication devices can support, or reliably support, the channel switching announcement signal, the WAP broadcasts the channel switching announcement signal to the one or more communication devices to announce its intention to switch from the one or more first communication channels to the one or more second communication channels.

  • Patent number: 11601839
Abstract: A wireless access point (WAP) supports one or more physical layer (PHY) operational parameters which can be restricted from use to lessen congestion within a wireless network (WN). The WAP periodically transmits a management frame to enable one or more communication devices to establish and/or maintain communication with the WAP. The wireless network can restrict one or more of the one or more PHY operational parameters, such as PHY data rates to provide an example, that are supported by the WAP from being utilized for communicating the management frame. This restriction of the one or more PHY operational parameters allows the WAP to periodically transmit the management frame at an increased PHY data rate thereby decreasing time needed for communicating the management frame which can lessen the congestion within the WN.

  • Patent number: 11579196
Abstract: A remote control device testing environment evaluates operational performance of physical implementations of remote control devices. This operational performance of the physical implementations of the remote control devices allows the integrated circuits of the remote control devices as well as integrated circuit interfaces electrically coupling these integrated circuits to each other to be evaluated. Additionally, the interconnection, such as electrical coupling to provide an example, between these integrated circuits and/or the integrated circuit interfaces can be evaluated which otherwise would not be evaluated by software simulation alone. Moreover, the evaluating of this operational performance of the physical implementations of the remote control devices allows these remote control devices to be in evaluated in a real world environment with exposure to various environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, and/or electromagnetic interference to provide some examples.

  • Patent number: 11570488
Abstract: Embodiments include a system and method for a real-time distributed Transport Stream (TS) analysis that utilizes many parts of an available network to concurrently monitor TSs across a geographic region. Embodiments include the selection of a profile for each combination of a TS and a collection point where the profile includes one or more sets of acceptable transmission values or ranges associated with the combination. The profile may include for example, program service information tables, service information, TS transmission parameters, and/or general TS quality index analysis rules. Embodiments include real-time concurrent monitoring and analysis of multiple TSs from collection points distributed throughout the geographic region. As services associated with the TSs at different collection points evolve, the respective profiles and rules adapt accordingly to maintain the quality of service and performance associated with respective TS and collection point combinations.

  • Patent number: 11516177
Abstract: In a cable network, embodiments detect and remediate a non-responsive customer premise equipment (CPE) device in a customer's premise with minimal or no interaction with a customer. Embodiments may detect and remediate a non-responsive CPE device without rebooting the non-responsive CPE device or the associated cable modem. Embodiments include troubleshooting a data link layer (e.g., Open System Interconnection (OSI) layer 2, or media access control (MAC) layer) and a network layer (e.g., OSI layer 3, or Internet layer) between a service operator network and the non-responsive CPE device. Embodiments include a guided integration and a proactive integration method, computer program product, and system to reduce and/or eliminate the need for a customer service representative to reboot a cable modem, and/or for a customer to reboot a non-responsive CPE device resulting in a fast and less disruptive service experience for the customer.

  • Patent number: 11442979
Abstract: The present disclosure describes an autonomous mechanism for implementing a flexible image repository that includes an image retrieval service and an image repository management application. The flexible image repository performs delta processing to provide a subset of stored images to a subscriber device when the image retrieval service receives an image update request. The subscriber device thus receives updates to the image repository in a manner that reduces bandwidth requirements at both the server and the client, allowing client-side images to be updated more frequently. A content manager may update the flexible image repository via the image repository management application, which tags images according to a naming convention prior to inserting the images in the image repository.

  • Patent number: 11432345
Abstract: The formulation and execution of a connectivity policy is disclosed herein to improve the performance of a wireless network (WN). A wireless access point (WAP) within the WN identifies electronic devices that have been granted access to the WN and/or are associated with the WAP to provide a connectivity catalog that forms the basis of the connectivity policy. This connectivity catalog is communicated to other WAPs within the network. In some situations, these other WAPs can execute the connectivity policy to deny access to electronic devices within the connectivity catalog to their corresponding networks. For example, these other WAPs can execute the connectivity policy on those electronic devices that are within a prescribed connectivity distance from the WAP that provided the connectivity catalog.
